Chapter 622: Shocking Discovery
Mo Junjie nodded at Shen Jinyue and asked, “Did you add honey?”
“I added a spoonful of honey as you like,” Shen Jinyue said with a nod.
“Thank you,” Mo Junjie said and finished the glass of milk in several gulps.
Only after seeing him finish the milk did Shen Jinyue take the glass and return to the kitchen.
Sitting across from him, Cheng Rui suddenly asked, “Brother, why didn’t you go out with your team?”
Mo Junjie glanced at him when he heard this. But unlike other people, he didn’t bother to reply to him or ask him anything and ignored him instead.
This was the first time Cheng Rui was treated like air. He wanted to get more information about the Phantom team from Mo Junjie.
While he racked his brain to find a topic, Mo Junjie finished the last drop of soup from his bowl and stood up.
Before leaving, he looked at them and said, “If you want to join the team, just wait until the Captain is back. If the Captain dislikes you, it’s useless even if you get close to the Shen family.”
As soon as he finished his words, he left carrying the tray, not waiting for Cheng Rui’s response at all.
Staring at his back, Cheng Rui turned to his brother and asked, “Ah Yue, what did he mean by that?”
Cheng Yue finished his food and wiped his lips with a tissue before he replied, “He told you to suck up to the Captain instead of those people.”
“Is that so?”
“Maybe.” Cheng Yue shrugged and left with the empty bowl.
After having his meal in the store, Mo Junjie returned to his apartment. Since he didn’t go with the team, he had a lot of free time.
Sitting cross-legged on the carpet, he opened his palms and circulated his ability energy. The next moment, a ball of black mist floated above his palms. Unlike usual, he no longer felt any pain despite using his ability.
Recalling the unknown liquid injected by Du Beiye before, his eyes flickered for a moment before he stood up and went to the guest room.
He locked the door, closed the curtains, and took out the tools from his spatial necklace and his blood sample. He was curious about the thing injected into his body and drew a vial of blood to do some tests on the blood.
With the advanced tools he obtained from the Capital base before, Mo Junjie managed to get the result at midnight.
After working for a whole day without eating, he was feeling dizzy. Feeling hungry, he made cup noodles. While waiting for the noodles to be ready, he read the result thoughtfully.
Even though he had guessed this, it was still hard to believe that his blood test actually ended with two different DNA sequences.
The blood sample from before he was injected indeed had some errors caused by his ability. This was the reason for his ability to corrode his body from the inside.
But the result from the blood sample he just took today showed that his DNA sequence no longer had this error. This result was far beyond his imagination.
For years, countless researchers tried to find a way to fix the error in the DNA sequences, but so far, they only managed to rewrite a small part of the DNA sequences to cure a specific disease.
Even this small step allowed the researcher to receive a Nobel Prize and made a groundbreaking breakthrough in the medical field. Therefore, he never expected Du Beiye to have something that not only fixed a small error but almost rewrote the entire DNA sequence.
Clenching his fists, he muttered with a frown, “Du Beiye, who are you exactly?”
Despite this shocking discovery, the night passed peacefully and another day arrived as usual.
Today was the fourth day since Feng Yun’s family arrived at the Lin’an City base. Thanks to the Phantom team’s reputation, the Feng family was able to settle down more easily.
With Xie Zhou’s help, Feng He managed to get a job as an accountant in the logistics department, and Feng Xuan joined the workers to build the fifth wall. As for Jiang Li, she would be staying with Feng Zhen and taking care of the house.
At this moment, Feng Zhen was currently staying in the hospital as he was still under observation. After the morning check-up, he was reading a book in his bed when he suddenly felt pain spreading from his chest.
“Ugh!”
Clutching his chest, Feng Zhen reached out to press the bell. But before he could reach the red button, he suddenly vomited blood and fell to the ground with a thud.
Lying on the ground, his body twitched and his eyes rolled back.
When Jiang Li returned from the cafeteria, she saw her son’s condition and exclaimed in shock, “Ah Zhen!”
Due to her shout, the nearby nurses came over to check the situation. The moment they saw Feng Zhen’s condition, one of them quickly went to inform the doctor while the rest of them performed first aid.
“Comrade, please wait outside,” one of the nurses said while dragging Jiang Li out of the room.
Soon after, a doctor came over followed by his students. Jiang Li could only stand outside with a pale face, praying that her son would be able to survive.
Fifteen minutes later, the doctor finally came out. His clothes were drenched in sweat and he heaved a sigh of relief.
Seeing him, Jiang Li rushed over and asked, “Doctor, how is my son?”
“Comrade, although we are able to save the patient, his condition is critical. You have to prepare yourself for the worst case,” the doctor replied with a sigh.
Hearing this, Jiang Li’s pale face turned even paler and she staggered backward. Fortunately, the doctor reached out to support her. “Comrade, are you okay?” he asked.
Jiang Li was too stunned to respond.
The doctor helped her sit on the bench before leaving. Right now, there were no comforting words he could offer to the patient’s family. All he could do was do his best to let the patient feel as comfortable as possible as he waited for his time.
