Chapter 715: You Thought I Was A Noob
I snuck up on the Exo-Knight that was still clinging to the asteroid, making sure that I stayed out of their sight as I got close to them.

When I was close enough that I could reliably empty my entire clip on them without missing my shots, I raised my gun to point at their back before I tried to connect to the Exo-Knight with my call.

I bet the pilot was surprised that they were even receiving a call but they quickly answered the call anyway.

A screen popped up to show a male human with a cybernetic eyepiece installed over where his left eye should have been.

“What? Who are you? What are you doing calling me?” He demanded.

I tilted my head at him, “I should be asking you what you’re doing here. You don’t look like someone who should be here. Are you lost?”

He shifted his gaze to the side and I think he was checking his map or something to check where I was. Guess he was too distracted by something else and didn’t realise someone else had snuck up on him.

When he realised that I was behind him, his brows furrowed not so inconspicuously.

“You… How did you sneak up behind me?”

Well… That was a simple trick… Actually, it can’t even be considered a trick but more like just common sense?

With so many asteroids around, your radar is most likely looking for heat signatures or something along those lines.

I already spotted you from far away so all I had to do was use my thrusters to give me a push towards your direction and shut it off. So I won’t even show up on your radar unless I turn on my thrusters again.

Pretty sure this tactic is pretty common.

I made sure my autocannon was still pointed at the back of his Exo-Knight as I continued, “You don’t need to know. You’re the one who is in a place where he shouldn’t be right now, so I suggest you answer the question. What are you doing here?”

He stared at me for a moment before he broke out into a smile, “I see… You’re just a student here aren’t you? This makes things easy.”

I felt a bad premonition and quickly squeezed the trigger on my joystick right as he spun around to try and fire a few shots at me.

At the same time, I started up my thrusters again and dodged to the right, letting his lasers pierce through empty space while I peppered his Exo-Knight with several kinetic rounds.

His shield materialised to protect him from me but I doubt he would be able to outlast me even if we were to just trade shots since the Exo-Knight I was piloting was designed to tank damage while his does not seem to be the defensive type.

That assumption was proven true as I raised my shield to block his lasers without needing to dodge and the next few shots from my autocannon completely shattered his shields.

This guy probably thought that I was a completely new student who didn’t even know how to pilot their Exo-Knight and was just trying to intimidate him.

But now he knows that I wasn’t just some stupid pilot who doesn’t even know how to shoot straight and he’s probably regretting his actions.

Since our call was still connected, he quickly let out a cry, “Wait! Wait! I surrender! I surrender! You got me, ok?! I surrender!”

Well that’s a pretty quick change of attitude.

I obviously wasn’t going to take his words at face value and kept my gun trained on him just in case he was thinking of waiting for his shields to recharge before shooting at me again.

“Drop your weapon,” I demanded, still keeping my gun trained on him.

He didn’t comply with my demand immediately so I took a shot at his Exo-Knight’s hand.

The blast ended up destroying his hand and causing his laser rifle to float away as the guy recoiled from the blast.

“Alright! Alright! I got it! Don’t shoot anymore!”

I moved closer to him and changed my autocannon for the halberd so even if his shield recharges, I could still cleave him into two if he attempts to attack me again.

Of course, I was still wary that he might also have a melee weapon of his own so I was prepared to lop off his other arm if he even showed any indication of trying to do that.

“Ren… Ahem… Android? Can you contact the instructor and let him know what is happening here?”

Renata spoke back with the android’s original voice, “The instructor has already been informed. Would you like to call him?”

“Do it.”

Another screen popped up and this time it was the instructor looking back at me.

“Is the message true? You found someone who tried to attack you and they aren’t a student here?” He asked, getting straight to the point.

I tapped on my controls to share my camera view with him, showing the other Exo-Knight in front of me.

The instructor didn’t say anything for a moment as though he was considering what to do before he spoke again.

“I’m sorry but could you escort him back to the station? If he tries to run or fight back, just kill him.”

Wow, ok then~

I switched my gaze to the screen with the guy inside the Exo-Knight, “Well then. You heard him. You’re following me back to the station and if you try anything, I’m lopping you into half. And before you even think about it, I have killed people before, so don’t think I will hesitate.”

The other guy didn’t say anything but he slowly floated away from the asteroid.

I moved behind him and made sure my halberd was pointed at his back and started escorting him back towards the station.

I was still fully expecting him to try and escape or fight back but surprisingly, he was quite compliant with me.

Just in case, I also sent a quick message to my girls so if I needed backup, they could rush to where I am quickly.

Eventually, the station came into view and I was a little surprised to see a few drones hovering outside the station, all of them flying towards me the moment I appeared.

I have a feeling these drones are supposed to be an automatic defense system from the station and the instructor activated them for this guy.

I escorted him towards the hangar and I still kept my weapon on him as we passed through the atmospheric barrier to land in the hangar.

Interestingly, there was another Exo-Knight that was also standing there waiting for us.

I assume this was the instructor and he was also piloting one of the Exo-Knights to deal with this guy. Surprisingly, it looks like it was the same model as ours which was unexpected since I would assume he has his own personal Exo-Knight which would be much better in quality than these ones that we’re allowed to use.

Hey, maybe he really likes tank type Exo-Knights so that’s why he got so many of them?

Or… He’s using a spare since he has to get here fast or something, I dunno.

The other guy stood still as the instructor approached the guy, our call still linked to each other.

“You… Were you sent by them?” The instructor asked.

The guy smirked at his own screen, “I don’t know what you are talking about. I’m simply just travelling with my Exo-Knight here and I suddenly got attacked by this crazy girl. Are you supposed to be her instructor or something? I think you should pay me compensation for this.”

Damn… This guy really is shameless…

I was about to point out the fact that we have a recording of our interaction when the guy suddenly reached for the waist of his Exo-Knight to pull out something.

In that instant, I realised that the instructor was within melee range and I assumed that this guy was trying to draw his energy blade or something to cut the instructor down.

Thus, I reacted quickly by thrusting my energy halberd forward, piercing through the other Exo-Knight’s arm through the armpit before I pulled back, slicing the entire arm off at the shoulder.

The arm dropped onto the ground and I realised that it was indeed holding on to a deactivated energy blade handle so I went ahead to sweep the Exo-Knight off its feet with my halberd’s handle, knocking him to the ground.

I then slammed my shield on top of its chest, using its weight to pin the Exo-Knight down and preventing the guy from trying to get up again.

Hmph… He thought he could just catch me off guard huh? Too bad, I was already prepared!

Eh? Why is the instructor just looking at me without saying anything? Actually… Why is the guy also looking at me like that?

What did I do?
