Chapter 451: Blaming games
It was already late evening when Cassian and Analisa finally stepped out of the confessional chamber. Analisa’s legs were still shaky, her face burning with embarrassment, while Cassian casually steadied her like nothing unusual had happened.

Brigid stood waiting outside, arms crossed, sipping wine with the kind of furious expression that promised future violence. Cassian only flashed a smug little grin—so casual Analisa wondered for the thousandth time if he had any sense of fear about being punished by the woman who technically owned him.

But then again… Cassian never really listened to Brigid, and Brigid never actually did anything about it. And Analisa, after today, had a pretty good guess why.

“Well,” Brigid said, wearing an angry little smirk, “you two certainly took your time.”

Brigid set her cup down with a hard clink, eyes burning into the two of them.

Analisa tried to stand a little straighter, but her knees wobbled, and she ended up clutching Cassian’s sleeve instead, face red down to her chest.

“So?” Brigid said. “Mind explaining why you two were defiling the holiest place like rabid animals? You—” she jabbed a finger at Analisa, “—are a cardinal. And you—” she turned the glare to Cassian, “—should’ve been on your knees the moment I told you to stop.”

Cassian just lifted a brow, smirk widening. “You said it like you expected me to care.”

“Why didn’t you stop him?” Brigid asked, bit louder turning to her grandmother again. “Or was I supposed to believe you had no control over yourself either?”

Analisa swallowed hard. “B-Brigid… he’s your slave. I… I tried—”

Cassian cut her off, voice full of teasing as he holded her by her waist, “She didn’t try anything.”

Analisa froze, shoulders tightening, the shame climbing all the way to her ears. She didn’t deny Cassian’s jab, didn’t even try. Her silence said enough—too much—and it made Brigid’s jaw clench so hard it looked painful.

But she still held back. She couldn’t press it.If Analisa knew—really knew—that Cassian wasn’t obeying his “master”… then Brigid didn’t dare push the subject and have it spelled out loud. She wasn’t about to hand her grandmother the truth wrapped neatly with a bow.

So she swallowed the fury burning in her chest, tore her gaze away, and muttered, “You know what? Fuck it. If I ever catch you two doing this in a holy place again, may the faithful stone you both for corrupting the Lord’s house.”

With that, she turned on her heel and walked off, wine cup swinging at her side, leaving Analisa standing there small and guilty—like the shame finally hit her now that the pleasure was gone.

…but definitely not the man who’d already gotten her addicted to the way his hands wandered across her body. Cassian leaned in with that smug little curve on his lips and murmured, “So now that she’s gone… wanna finish the rest in your room?”

Analisa snapped, cheeks burning, shoving his chest with both hands. “Take your hands off me…” she hissed, voice cracking between anger and fluster. “Because of you, I can’t even show my granddaughter my face…”

Cassian’s face tightened with annoyance as he hauled her back, keeping her upright when her legs threatened to give out. His grip on her waist was rough, and when he fisted a hand in her hair she had no choice but to look at him.

“You really have the nerve,” he said, voice sharp and mocking. “You begged for me like a starved slut… and now you want to act offended?”

Analisa’s breath trembled, her body still reacting to every brush of contact, shame and leftover heat tangled together. She hated how obvious it was.

“If you’re desperate to blame someone,” he went on, leaning in with a crooked smirk, “blame the that losse cunt of yours.”

Analisa shoved at his chest again, but her arms had no strength; she only managed to wrinkle his shirt. Cassian didn’t budge. He dragged her closer, jaw flexing, eyes cold with that irritated amusement he always had when she tried pretending she wasn’t the one who broke first.

“You think you can glare your way out of this?” he muttered, tightening his grip in her hair. “You were trembling for me a minute ago.”

“Shut up,” she hissed, cheeks burning. “You ruined everything. Brigid saw— gods, I can’t even look at her now.”

Cassian laughed—low, sharp, cruel.”Oh please. If you had even a shred of control, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”

Her breath caught, fury battling humiliation. “I was— I was overwhelmed. You pushed me—”

“Oh no,” he cut in, voice dropping into that taunting rumble. “Don’t rewrite it. You leaned into every second. And you know damn well you did.”

Her fingers curled at her sides, frustration trembling through her. She hated how his words hit her—too accurately, too easily.

“Let me go,” she snapped, trying again to pull away.

But he yanked her back with ease, tilting her chin up until her eyes met his.”Yeah… keep that look,” he murmured, amused at how her glare burned hotter the closer he pulled her.

“I liked the crazed, needy version of you from earlier,” he went on, smirking as her jaw tightened, “but this one—this furious, glaring version—is my favorite. Especially when I am fucking you…”

Analisa jerked her chin out of his grip, fury sparking through the exhaustion still clinging to her limbs.

“Try me,” she snapped, breath rougher than she intended. “If you can even make me moan again—” she leaned in, eyes narrowed to slits, “—I’ll get on my knees for you anytime you want.”

Cassian’s smirk faltered for the first time, surprise flickering over his face. Not because of the challenge—he lived for that—but because she said it like she hadn’t been the one a few minutes ago losing her voice on him, loud enough that half the chapel probably heard.

Her voice was still a little coarse, still betraying exactly how hard she’d broken earlier.

He stared at her for a beat, then huffed a laugh, somewhere between disbelief and pure amusement.

“So you really don’t remember how you sounded?” he asked, leaning close enough that she stiffened. “You were shaking so much I thought you’d collapse.”

Her jaw clenched, cheeks heating despite the anger twisting her expression.

“Try it,” she hissed again, refusing to back down even as her legs wobbled under his hand on her waist. “Try and see if you can pull so much as a breath out of me this time.”
