Chapter 1386: Terms Of Sincerity (2)
“And even if she did, she wouldn’t do so with the boldness and confidence you’ve shown. The information you carry about the Vylkr entities and Naka might be worth something, but not enough. It would have been wiser for you to offer more, but you didn’t.”

“Even a man on death’s doorstep would still offer everything, even his life, if there was a chance to live. In other words, you weren’t desperate enough.”

Princess Dakari nodded thoughtfully, muttering faint words under her breath. None of which Orion could make out.

“So, to get you to help me, I need to show my sincerity by offering something more?” she said.

“Alright. I understand.”

Dakari looked at Orion with a firm expression.

“I’ll be honest with you from now on.”

Dakari leaned forward across the table, her face now just inches from Orion’s.

“I know your secret,” she whispered.

Orion’s eyes fluttered, but he quickly composed himself.

“I have many secrets, and I’m sure you have yours as well. So I’m not sure what you’re referring to,” Orion replied, narrowing his gaze at her.

Did she truly know?

Or was she simply testing him?

But her boldness in saying those words unsettled him.

“I know. Everyone has secrets. But this one… this is a deep one. One you’d do anything to keep buried,” Dakari said quietly. “It’s about your potent fertility. I know that you impregnated Zymera, Seven-Headed Hydra.”

Orion’s expression froze in shock. How could she possibly know that?

His first thought was someone had betrayed him, but he quickly dismissed it. The layers of precaution he had taken made such a leak nearly impossible.

If anyone else had known, he would’ve been alerted instantly.

That left one possibility. Either she was a Queen or a Transcendent Spirit Beast. But no, her aura was unmistakable: she was a Princess.

The only remaining explanation was far more disturbing.

She had likely been present all along, hidden and observing everything in secret during the earlier months, when he and his forces were still weak and unable to sense her.

This aligned with his earlier suspicions.

If true, then her hesitation in approaching them made sense. She might’ve been fearful of the King and wanted to appear without hostile intent.

This also meant the forces backing her were likely on par with, or just beneath, a King.

In other words, they were dangerous.

Still, despite all of this, Orion chose to feign ignorance.

He glanced around the room, then shook his head slowly.

“I don’t understand what you’re talking about. It doesn’t make sense. How could I impregnate a Spirit Beast? Isn’t Princess Dakari aware that Spirit Beasts can’t conceive with gods or anyone other than their own kind?” he asked, his voice calm.

“I advise you to stop making baseless claims. If you persist, you’ll be punished and expelled from this territory.”

Dakari raised an intrigued brow. She rested her chin on one hand, her gaze sparkling with amusement and curiosity.

“So you’re choosing that route first… I suspected you would,” Dakari responded, “If I’m forced out, I’ll have no choice but to release the truth about why the Seven-Headed Hydra managed to ascend, breaking through the natural age limit, and why it drew the attention of a King.”

“I wonder how those Spirit Beasts you’ve lied to will react when they learn the truth. But I’m certain that they won’t happen, because I came prepared with another secret, to ensure you take me seriously.”

She didn’t take any of his threats seriously. She recognised that he was probing her, trying to determine just how much she knew.

And she was more than willing to share, if it got him to listen.

Leaning in again, she whispered, “You are an anomaly.”

Her words hit Orion like thunderclaps.

Instantly, a wave of pressure descended upon Dakari’s shoulders.

Dakari’s body stiffened as she sensed the immense weight.

‘So powerful,’ she thought inwardly.

She had already seen him kill countless Princes and Princesses with a single mysterious lightning bolt, and she had assumed he was strong, perhaps as strong as a Spirit Beast who had just touched the threshold of the King-ranked.

Now, feeling it firsthand, she realised just how wrong she was.

This pressure was something she had only ever felt from a true King. In other words, this Supreme Leader before her hadn’t merely touched the threshold; he possessed strength equivalent to a fully-fledged King.

Dakari realised she had gravely underestimated him.

Unbeknownst to her, she had still underestimated him. This Orion was merely a clone, whose strength was suppressed to below the threshold of a true god, which was equivalent to the power of a Transcendent Spirit Beast.

Had she known this, she might have been even more frightened and chosen to ask for forgiveness, with the immediate thought of fleeing as far from this territory as possible.

But she couldn’t.

Orion narrowed his eyes at her.

“How did you come across such information?” he asked, his tone sharp.

He could ignore the fact that she somehow knew about his potent fertility impregnate, but he couldn’t overlook the fact that she knew he was an anomaly.

That was something not even J’garin, Iy’yra or any of the other Spirit Beasts under his command had discovered yet.

No matter what happened, he needed to find her how she had learnt about it. And he couldn’t allow her to leave with that knowledge.

“I’ve told you before, I deal in information,” Dakari replied calmly, a faint smile curving her lips. “I have transactions with various Kings who are willing to trade secrets, especially when I fulfil certain… requests.”

“A few of them have extraordinary senses. Some can unravel traces of events that occurred in a specific area simply by scent. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you their identities. Otherwise, you might end up with another King as an enemy.”

Her tone grew sharper at the mention of ‘Kings,’ delivering a veiled warning for Orion not to act rashly.

Orion’s gaze hardened.

Outwardly, his expression remained composed, but inside, his mind raced.

As a true god, he had long assumed that only the Transcendent Spirit Beasts posed a threat to him in the Spirit Realm.

But now, he realised he had severely underestimated the power and influence that King-ranked Spirit Beasts could wield.

Suddenly, the pressure that had been pressing down on Dakari vanished.

Dakari sighed in relief.

She honestly didn’t want to be in a situation where she would be forced to fight against them, as it would incur heavy losses that far outweighed any potential gain.

“If you were given this information… then does this also mean that others…?” Orion asked, his voice trailing off.

Even though he didn’t complete the sentence, Dakari swiftly understood what he meant.

She nodded. “Yes. According to the information I’ve gathered, there are other formidable Spirit Beasts who are aware of this and are interested in you, and in your child… the Divine-Spirit Beast hybrid. The only reason they haven’t acted yet is because they’re wary of each other, and they don’t want to interfere with the conflict between the Divine Corps and the Vylkr spawns not yet.”

Orion’s mind raced with various thoughts. He suspected they had been noticed the very moment they crossed through the Spiritual Link Point with Sylvalis.

But they hadn’t been attacked, likely because the observers didn’t yet know what they were dealing with and didn’t want to take a premature risk. So they had chosen to focus on the larger conflict already at hand.

Unknown to them, their attack on the Celestial Spirit Court had also aided in the conflict by drawing out the Vylkr spawns, and diverting their attention.

Still, he didn’t downplay how critical that initial caution had been. If they had chosen to intervene in the conflict too quickly, they might’ve ended up cleaning up someone else’s mess, only to be attacked themselves afterwards.

A trap within a trap.

“Do you know of any other reason behind the conflict between the Divine Corps and the Vylkr entities? …Perhaps something related to a corpse?” Orion asked.

Dakari’s expression shifted into one of confusion.

“I’m sorry, but I’m fairly certain there isn’t any conflict between the two sides involving a corpse,” she replied, shaking her head.

Orion nodded. That answer confirmed his expectations: the existence of the Omnithriallian corpse was still a closely guarded secret, known only to a few.

Someone like Dakari, despite her usefulness to the powerful Spirit Beasts, would not be among them.

“What do you know about Transcendent Spirit Beasts?” Orion asked, his tone grave and expression unreadable.

“Transcendent Spirit Beasts?” Dakari repeated, her brows furrowing. “I’m sorry, but I’ve never heard of them.”

‘If a King is already considered a myth and a legend to them,’ Orion mused, ‘then the existence of a rank beyond that may not even be known. It’s possible they don’t have any awareness of beings above the King-ranked.’

The question had been gnawing at him. If there were any chance that the King-ranked Spirit Beasts were aware of the Omnithriallian corpse, then the Transcendents surely would be too.
