Chapter 1385: Terms Of Sincerity
“Perhaps it’s due to their similar natures that they’ve been able to thrive there.”

“Now, they’re slowly making their way into the Middle Layer. I suspect the Vylkr spawns cooperating with the Spirit Beast Coalition are a few of those that were sent ahead to prepare a stage for the rest to arrive. I also suspect the Divine Corps are aware of this, hence why they’ve been planting their bases across each Spiritual Link Point to prevent them from advancing and to eliminate the Vylkr spawns.”

Orion was surprised by this revelation.

He already knew there were other reasons why the Divine Corps had stationed their bases across the Spiritual Link Points beyond just eliminating divines and Vylkr spawns.

However, he had never expected that one of those reasons would be to halt the advancement of the Vylkr spawns into the Middle Layer.

Before the Spiritual Link Points were tethered to the Material Realm and used by its residents to travel between realms, they were natural gateways that connected the Lower, Middle, and Upper Layers of the Spirit Realm.

Unlike the inhabitants of the Material Realm, who could sometimes stumble into these layers by chance, Spirit Beasts couldn’t cross between them unless they had mastered the Spirit Space to a significant degree, or could soar above the misty sky.

Princesses like Dakari could easily accomplish the former, which was why Orion hadn’t been surprised when she mentioned the situation in the Lower Layer.

Using the Spiritual Link Point in Paradise, Orion had once explored the Lower Layer. Because of its brutal environment, he saw it as an ideal place to execute specific plans for Paradise.

But regardless of their approach, they were attacked almost immediately by powerful Spirit Beasts, so he had no other choice but to abandon his initial plan.

Even now, despite being stronger than his former self, he would still choose to give up on the Lower Layer.

It was far too violent.

Orion had already had a hostile encounter with a Malevolent Spirit Beast and doubted he could reason with them the way he had with the Spirit Beasts in the Middle Layer.

As for the Upper Layer, before they had even interfered in Celestial Spirit Court matters, an army of powerful Spirit Beasts would’ve already descended upon them to demand an explanation.

If they deemed the response unsatisfactory, the exploration would’ve ended in failure.

Only the Middle Layer suited his plans.

It was the best of both worlds.

Orion wasn’t the only one who understood this. Other gods knew as well, hence why they flocked to the Middle Layer instead of the others.

Naka must have understood this too. But given the nature of the Vylkr entity, the Lower Layer was the most suitable environment to nurture it.

However, considering the vastness of the Spirit Realm, it was extremely rare for two Spiritual Link Points to lead to the exact location. So Orion was genuinely surprised that the Divine Corps had uncovered Naka’s schemes.

Then there was the fact that they were fighting over an Omnithriallian corpse. Orion may have stumbled upon the battle by sheer luck, but the same couldn’t be said of the other forces, who clearly seemed aware of one another’s movements.

Did they have insiders?

No. That was highly unlikely.

Both factions were too cautious and secretive to allow such a breach. If anything, their paranoia was evident in the fact that they had created entirely different beings to carry out their objectives.

“Are the Kings in the Lower Layer unaware of all this? Why haven’t they intervened?” Orion asked aloud.

He might not have met one personally, but he was certain that a Malevolent Spirit Beast at the King level wouldn’t simply sit back and watch the Vylkr entities wreak havoc within their domains.

“They are aware. And they’ve been eliminating the Vylkr entities over the past few hundred years since learning about their existence. But no matter how much they tried, the Vylkr entities kept reemerging at various corners of the Lower Layer. There are even rumours that King-level Vylkr spawns are protecting them, which is why they dare to act so openly,” Dakari said, smiling wryly.

“I also learned that the Divine Corps are as much of a threat as the Vylkr entities, which is why they’ve been able to establish bases across various Spiritual Link Points. This has forced the Kings to face two powerful adversaries at the same time.”

“Even for Kings, traversing a layer of the Spirit Realm takes considerable effort. That has made eliminating them exceedingly difficult.”

“With their pride and reputation, the Lower Layer Kings would never ask for help from the layers above. And even if they did, few Kings would risk venturing into the Lower Layer to fight against Vylkr spawns that have devoured countless Spirit Beasts to grow to this level,” Dakari continued with a sigh.

“But I doubt they’re unaware of what’s going on below. They’ve already seen through the Spirit Beasts Coalition’s collusion with the Vylkr spawns, but they’ve chosen not to act yet. They may be choosing to stay as observers, waiting for the two forces to destroy each other or for things to spiral out of control before stepping in.”

“As for the Spirit Beasts Coalition, their destruction is imminent. They’re at fault for colluding with beings who threaten the safety of the Spirit Realm.”

Orion furrowed his brows in thought.

If the Kings were observing, then that meant the Transcendent Spirit Beasts must have also learned of this matter.

“So there’s a possibility that the King who appeared here was one of those monitoring the conflict between the Divine Corps and the Vylkr spawns before it escalates?” Orion asked, looking at Dakari.

“Yes. That was the reason I came here initially. After detecting the presence of a King’s aura, I believed they had finally taken action. I had gathered intel from the Lower Layer and came to share it, hoping to gain the cooperation of a few Spirit Beasts that had also assembled here to break into the Lower Layer and rescue my sister,” Dakari responded.

“But my assumptions were wrong. What I found was just as surprising as the appearance of that King-level aura. With your help, I believe it’s possible to rescue my sister.”

Orion nodded. He didn’t comment on her last sentence.

Instead, he asked, “And what about information on their creator, Naka?”

“I will only share that information with you if you’re willing to help me, Supreme Leader,” Dakari replied, shaking her head.

Orion narrowed his eyes at her and asked another question, “You seem to be quite knowledgeable, Princess Dakari. How did you manage to uncover all of this?”

He was aware of the information gap between Spirit Beasts of different ranks, especially between Kings and those below. Unless she came from a King-level background… but if that were the case, she wouldn’t be here, pleading for help to rescue her sister.

“I have a very unique racial skill, one I acquired due to my bloodline. Because of this, I’ve managed to attract the attention of certain powerful Spirit Beasts who are willing to trade information with me in exchange for… other things,” Dakari explained. “That’s how I was able to gather the intel I now possess.”

Orion nodded. “I believe you. But I still feel like you’re hiding something,” he said, narrowing his gaze at her.

Dakari had joined Kun’lin and the others to take the binding oath later than Jaros, after him and the rest. This meant she had arrived here earlier, possibly sometime after Nyzzorrak’s defeat, or even before that.

Which meant she’d had the time to investigate before choosing to take the binding oath.

Added to the fact that she was one of the few Spirit Beasts who had remained on the front line behind him, observing his confrontation against the Spirit Beasts earlier, as though prepared to step in at any moment, while the others took the opportunity to retreat, Orion found it hard to trust her words.

The only reason he hadn’t called her out earlier was that he was intrigued by the information she possessed.

“Before you respond, I must advise you to take your time and think carefully about your answer. I will not hesitate to throw you out, or ensure you suffer the consequences if I discover that you’re lying,” Orion said, seeing that Dakari was about to speak.

Dakari closed her mouth. She looked at Orion momentarily, countless thoughts floating through her mind, before she sighed and shut her eyes.

Moments later, Dakari opened her eyes and locked her gaze on Orion.

Her eyes were sharper than they had been before.

The atmosphere around her had shifted.

Orion raised a brow at her new demeanour.

Now, more than before, she looked like a true Princess.

“I thought I could stop you from growing suspicious… at least until you agreed to help and we were already en route to the Lower Layer,” Dakari said.

“It’s simple,” Orion replied. “A Princess who has lived for more than 250,000 years would find it difficult to ask a god from the Material Realm for help.”
