Chapter 1383: Checkmate (2)
“It won’t be easy, they’re fiercely loyal, and trying to read their memories can trigger backlash, but I believe you’ll be able to uncover some clues, just as we have.”

“That’s all the information I have to share with you. I believe it’s more than enough to fulfil my end of the bargain.”

The Vylkr Spawns?

The Blessed Order of Divine Apostles?

The Spirit Beast Coalition?

The Spirit Beasts slowly digested the information that Orion had revealed to them.

They had never expected that the Spirit Beast Coalition, renowned for their ability to push back the Divine Corps, had colluded with the Vylkr Spawns, who were also connected to the Blessed Order of Divine Apostles.

Although Orion hadn’t explicitly stated that the organisation was involved, anyone with half a brain could conclude it was most likely the case.

Many of them had already investigated both the Vylkr Spawns and the Divine Corps. The Vylkr Spawns possessed a dangerous, unfamiliar power, capable of consuming or corrupting anything under its influence through Vylkr energy, making them a formidable adversary.

Meanwhile, the Divine Corps had proven themselves capable of fighting multiple Vylkr entities alone, and even possessed the power to eliminate Spirit Beasts, a feat only gods could typically achieve.

Some were also concerned about the deteriorating state of the Material Realm, due to the spreading Vylkr vines, which were tied to the Vylkr Spawns and their ravenous hunger for its residents and the spirit beasts. As such, many Spirit Beasts regarded them with the same hostility they held toward the gods.

However, unlike the gods, whom they could not remove without eliminating every race in the Material Realm, the Spirit Beasts were more than willing to eliminate any new mysterious threat before it could rise.

Their stance was clear: if these forces crossed paths with them, they would be destroyed without hesitation.

Besides, no matter what the others did, the Spirit Realm would forever remain their home. Outsiders would always be weakened here, having their strength halved, putting them at a severe disadvantage.

If not for these revelations, the Spirit Beasts wouldn’t have paid attention to the war. But now, everything was connected: the sudden appearance of a King’s aura, he disappearance of the Seven-Headed Hydra, the Vylkr Spawns, and their creator.

“I’ve previously made plans to take a look at the Spirit Beast Coalition and their ongoing war with the Divine Corps after learning about how it had been destabilising the surrounding territories and had made no improvements.

However, I hadn’t expected to receive this much shocking, in-depth information. You are truly a man of your word. If possible, I’d like to offer more as gratitude for the knowledge you’ve shared,” said a spirit beast with black and yellow striped fur, long rabbit-like ears, and a flowing black robe. He exuded the spiritual aura of a Prince.

He was one of the few with detailed insights into the current state of things, and Orion’s revelations had helped him piece it all together. Initially, he thought it might all be nonsense, but he had held out hope for something valuable.

Fortunately, his instincts had been right. And before he left to deal with the Spirit Beast Coalition, the Divine Corps, and the Vylkr Spawns, he wanted to express his gratitude.

One of the things he now desired was to know Orion’s identity, and that of the force behind him. For anyone to dig so deeply into matters concerning the King and to obtain such precise information, they couldn’t be ordinary.

“I’ll be joining you. I also believe it’s time we ended this war; it’s dragged on long enough. But before that, I’d also like to offer something. This information is worth far more than what I bargained for!”

“I’ve been itching to destroy a Divine Corps base ever since I encountered those troublesome pests. Now I also have the chance to deal with another pest like the Vylkr Spawns before they gain more momentum.

And of course, I want to express my gratitude for the information you’ve shared. I have several rare minerals beneficial for crafting Spirit Weapons and artefacts!”

“Hahaha… This is going to be fun. I’m glad I made the right decision. As a token of gratitude for this valuable information, I can offer over a thousand territories, each better than Floating Frost Valley, where you can build a strong foundation for a future base in the Spirit Realm!”

“Since everyone’s in agreement, this should be an easy task. That said, I don’t have much to offer… but I’m willing to offer myself. I wonder if your forces are recruiting. I want to join and help you establish your first base in the Middle Layer!”

Jaros, Zaelthar, Rhylla and others, along with several other Spirit Beasts who saw an opportunity to form a stronger relationship with Orion, stepped forward one by one.

They had no issue with Orion establishing a base in the Spirit Realm. Even if they hadn’t suggested it, they were confident he would consider it eventually. With his power, it wouldn’t be hard.

What they didn’t expect… was that their reaction had been anticipated. It was already part of Orion’s plan.

Orion smiled inwardly. Remaining cautious regardless of one’s strength was truly an undeniable method to guarantee overall safety.

However, outwardly, Orion simply shook his head in response.

“Although I appreciate your consideration, I don’t need your gratitude. I shared this information with you because you’ve already offered enough in exchange,” Orion said.

“That said, if you’re still intent on showing your gratitude, then I’ll make only one request. I hope you can deliver the Vylkr spawns into my hands. I’ll have my forces personally interrogate them. Once we uncover the exact coordinates of where they took the Seven-Headed Hydra, I’ll freely share that information with all of you.”

He allowed his words to settle before falling silent.

Although his request was a little excessive, especially since it was precisely this matter that had prompted their intervention in the war, he was sure they would accept.

None of them wanted to risk being the centre of attention if the King suddenly returned and discovered what had happened to the unique Spirit Beast it had shown interest in.

Since Orion and his force were the only ones known to have faced a King and lived to tell the tale, they had no choice but to leave the investigation to him.

Soon after Orion made his request, the Spirit Beasts fell silent.

“If that’s what you want, then I have no problem with it. You’re the one who brought all this information to light in the first place. It’s only reasonable for you to get the rest of it!”

“I agree. I think the Vylkr spawns should be captured and handed over to the Supreme Leader. Since reading their minds is risky and might result in a backlash, the Supreme Leader would be able to extract the truth through interrogation instead!”

“If that’s the case, then I have no objections either…”

Just as Orion had expected, they agreed to his request one by one.

With several powerful Spirit Beasts handling the war while he seized the opportunity to claim the Omnithriallian corpse, and at the same time protect the territories of the Spirit Beasts who had pledged loyalty to Paradise, Orion was confident that Paradise’s involvement would go barely noticeable.

Even if the unknown figures behind the scenes tried to dig deeper, they would find nothing, as Paradise had yet to fully reveal itself.

For now, they remained a mysterious and powerful force capable of commanding several high-ranking Spirit Beasts to carry out complex tasks.

Orion had not yet met the unknown entities the bizarre Will of the Divine Mysteries intended to introduce, but he was certain even they couldn’t boast of such influence.

As the atmosphere fell silent once more, Orion nodded.

“Thank you. I will ensure that I don’t disappoint anyone,” Orion said, his tone filled with gratitude.

“I have some issues to handle and need to make preparations, so I’ll be leaving first,” he added. He turned around and gestured for the Spirit Beast women to follow him as he flew toward the White Winged Gryphon Island.

Celeste, Greta, and Gina followed closely behind, ensuring they encountered no harm.

Iy’yra and J’garin swiftly joined soon after, not wanting to be left behind amidst so many high-ranking Spirit Beasts.

Observing their daughter flying away, Zaelthar and Ryhlla couldn’t help but feel a mix of emotions.

Only one Prince, or a few Dukes, would have been enough to handle this matter. But since so many were participating, it was a guarantee that the task would be completed with ease. Their efforts would barely be needed.

So why not take the time to spend the remaining moments they had with their daughter before Orion and his forces vanished once more?

They exchanged looks, realising they shared the same thought. They nodded and swiftly followed behind Orion and the others.

They were not alone; several others had done the same, and a few who wished to meet Orion privately for other matters also trailed behind.

….

Author’s Note: I’ve been trying to take breaks every Sunday to deal with issues regarding my personal life. But it’s been difficult. I’m sorry about the late chapters. I’ll try my best to continue updating regularly.
