Chapter 1382: Checkmate
“I will now reveal information regarding the current location of the Seven-Headed Hydra, which we have uncovered through extensive investigation,” Orion said.

The Spirit Beasts immediately perked up their ears in anticipation.

“Have any of you heard of the heavens?!” Orion asked.

Their expressions twisted into confusion.

“The heavens? I’ve never come across that before. Is that a dimension within the Spirit Realm?!”

“In all my eighty-seven thousand years of wandering the Spirit Realm, I’ve heard of the Six Hallowed Celestial Peaks, the Purple Silent Void, and even the famed Sealed Furnace Abyss Dimension, rumoured to have been created by a Prince. But ‘the heavens’? I’ve never heard of it.”

“Wait… perhaps it’s a hidden pocket dimension, like the Night Abyssal Vault?”

“I apprenticed under a solitary Marquis sage who dedicated his life to cataloguing every territory within the Middle Layer of the Spirit Realm, yet he never once mentioned ‘the heavens.’ Could it be that its true name has been erased from all records?”

“When I battled with two gods tens of thousands of years ago, he mentioned, before his death, that he was trying to escape from ‘the heavens.’ I didn’t think much of it at the time; it seemed like a dying being’s ramble. But now, it seems I was too simple-minded in my thinking.”

“No… I’ve never heard of it.”

The crowd began murmuring among themselves. However, only a handful of them had ever heard of the heavens. And even then, their knowledge came from ancient records or ancestral teachings passed down over millions of years.

This was because it was widely believed that the heavens had been destroyed, and all that remained was a realm suspended between existence and non-existence, where the Divine Mysteries were said to reside.

Even gods who had ascended hundreds of thousands of years ago were unaware of the existence of the heavens, unless they had encountered an ancient god or one from that forgotten era who could pass on the knowledge.

As such, they were unable to understand how any of this related to the Seven-Headed Hydra’s sudden disappearance.

The spirit beasts immediately fell silent when they noticed Orion preparing to speak again.

“It seems the majority of you are unfamiliar with the heavens? That’s not a problem. I’ll explain,” Orion said, his voice calm.

He observed their inquisitive expressions, a trace of amusement flickering behind his gaze.

“The heavens are the place from which the gods first emerged, before descending into both the Material and Spirit Realms,” he explained.

“It’s commonly believed that the heavens were destroyed. But the truth is only known to the true gods themselves. However, they have vanished entirely after they have transcended. No one knows where they went, and their whereabouts remain a mystery to this day.”

“However, according to rumours, there’s one individual who still knows the truth about the heavens. He calls himself Naka. He’s the creator of the Vylkr Spawns and the Blessed Order of Divine Apostles that terrorised these regions’ spirit beasts before the emergence of the Celestial Spirit Court 600 years ago, making it easy for them to gain control.”

“According to our investigation, shortly after the Seven-Headed Hydra vanished, she received a message from Naka to leave the Spirit Realm. So, we suspect she is now in heaven. Those of you already aware of the Vylkr Spawn that attacked us months ago may have already connected the dots.”

“For those who haven’t, one of those spawns tried to eliminate us because we possessed knowledge about this truth. Unfortunately, we weren’t around to stop it. Still, thanks to the bravery and decisiveness of spirit beasts like Duke Zaelthar, Rhylla, Jaros, and others, the spawn was quickly subdued and handed over to us for punishment.”

“However,” he continued, “we still don’t know the exact location of the Seven-Headed Hydra. Her whereabouts remain speculative.

After gaining insight into why the King’s aura had lingered, this was the information that Orion decided to release.

Their current thorn was Naka and the Divine Corps. With the Kings and Transcendent Spirit Beasts appearing to be a potential threat to Paradise, what better way to confirm Naka’s location, learn about his current state, whether he had made progress in breaking into the heavens beyond just creating the Vylkr spawns, distract the Divine Corps and those backing them with false information about Naka’s shenanigans with Zymera, and at the same time turn a King or more, depending on their influence, against Naka?

Also, this way, he wouldn’t have to reveal his fertility.

Simultaneously, he could earn the loyalty of the Spirit Beasts by his side, further strengthening the protection of those under Paradise.

Orion chose to lay several groundworks before meeting the mysterious forces that the bizarre Will of the Divine Mysteries had mentioned.

Paradise bore a personal grudge against Naka and the Divine Corps and needed to handle some matters internally, without outside interference.

Orion hoped other hidden forces were watching, learning this ‘secret information.’

As Orion finished his words, he went silent, allowing them to linger in their minds.

The Spirit Beasts, who had eagerly awaited Orion’s explanation, were instantly dazed by the astonishing revelations.

Despite the bargains that had occurred earlier, many assumed Orion would cobble together some vague excuse or lead them nowhere, especially after his warning.

They hadn’t expected real information, let alone something this significant.

So when they heard a detailed report from what had happened to the Seven-Headed Hydra, the original home of the gods, the creator of the Vylkr spawns, and the strange divine apostles who had once terrorised these territories before the rise of the Celestial Spirit Court and the Spirit Beast Coalition, they were stunned.

Even those who already had some inkling of these truths were shaken to learn that the Seven-Headed Hydra was now with Naka.

Especially Zaelthar, Rhylla, Jaros, and the others who had helped defeat the Vylkr spawn.

They puffed their chests out with pride as the others glanced at them, now fully aware of their contributions.

Iy’yra and J’garin, who had silently observed the entire scene from the beginning, gasped in shock. To learn that the Blessed Order of Divine Apostles, who had terrorised their territory, and the Vylkr spawns, who had attacked them later, were created by the same individual caused their heart to tremble.

Suddenly, immense rage surged through Iy’yra, filling every fibre of her being.

‘Maybe if I were strong enough, I would have learned about this information sooner,’ she thought bitterly.

She understood that Orion would have likely kept this information secret until he believed the time was right, if not for the current situation.

Her heart ached at the realisation of her own weakness, unable to protect her people or uncover such a critical truth on her own.

‘I can’t stay like this. Maybe… I should give it a try too,’ Iy’yra thought, a glint of clarity in her eyes as she stared at the spirit beast women standing slightly behind Orion as he addressed the crowd.

At that moment, a voice rang out, “How do we know you’re not lying to us?”

It was a winged tiger with a rocky body. He radiated the aura of an Earl-ranked Spirit Beast and was one of the few who remained in their true Spirit Beast form, albeit at a smaller size.

He knew full well he couldn’t survive if Orion attacked him, but he would rather die fighting with his full strength than do so handicapped.

Several others nodded inwardly at the question, though none dared speak.

Seeing that he was still alive, the rocky winged tiger let out a small sigh of relief. “Humph…” he snorted, noticing the approving gazes cast in his direction by the other Spirit Beasts.

“I’ve no reason to lie to you. But before you ask me that, shouldn’t you be more curious about how Naka learned this information faster than anyone else? I’ll tell you why…” Orion said with a smile.

Seeing he had their attention once more, he continued, “For those of you who’ve done your research, the place where the Seven-Headed Hydra ascended, and where the King’s aura is most saturated, was the former base of the Celestial Spirit Court.”

“From our investigation, we’ve uncovered that the Celestial Spirit Court has been working with the Vylkr spawns to harm their fellow spirit beasts. It was through the Court that the Vylkr spawns learned this information, swiftly contacted their creator, and plotted the disappearance of the Seven-Headed Hydra.”

“This leads us to believe that the Blessed Order of Divine Apostles’ attack 600 years ago, and their emergence years later, were both planned. We also suspect that the Spirit Beast Coalition might be working with them.”

Seeing the shocked expressions at yet another revelation, Orion sighed and continued in a confident tone, “But if you still don’t believe me, then go to their headquarters and find out for yourselves. As long as you capture a Vylkr spawn, you might be able to uncover the truth.”

Author’s Note: No. I haven’t forgotten about Flintor and the others.
