Chapter 478: Unleashing Ultimates (Part 1)
“So how durable is it currently?” Adyr asked. He wanted to know if he could unleash all his power here, the kind strong enough to burst his body if it ever slipped out of control.

“It’s enough to block and contain the blast from a 50 kT nuclear explosion.”

Adyr raised one eyebrow as he thought about the number, weighing it like a silent math problem.

Even the nuclear warheads he had used against the Blood Dragon had a yield of 20 kT. A single one of those could wipe out an entire city, along with the tens of thousands of people living and breathing inside its streets.

This small room could hold that level of power inside without letting anything leak out, which was genuinely mind-blowing; the very walls themselves felt like a quiet insult to common sense. It was more durable than Adyr’s Malice Armor and maybe on par with the Blood Dragon’s defense, if its regeneration ability was not taken into account.

If he could wear armor made from this gold coating, it would grant him something akin to an extra Rank 4 Spark’s power wrapped directly around his body. The idea of walking around with that kind of protection was staggering.

He let that thought sit for a moment, then asked another question that had been stuck in his mind for a while, lingering at the edge of his curiosity.

“If you were allowed to produce a nuclear warhead without any concern for ethics or restrictions, how high could the power go?”

Henry and the 12 City Managers let him use 20 kT nuclear warheads, but Adyr knew that with the current weapon technology of Humans, those were nothing more than snacks, compact toys compared to the true extremes they could reach.

During the last nuclear war that had nearly destroyed the Earth, they had launched bombs with yields of 50 MT (50,000 kT) and even 100 MT (100,000 kT). Those far exceeded the numbers they currently had in stock and were permitted to produce, turning continents into scars that still had not fully healed.

Adyr wasn’t planning to ask them to create those disasters, of course.

Even he would hesitate to use them; their detonation meant damage no power could undo. In that case, his Grace would not be enough to restore the soil they left behind, the land turning into a dead, poisoned crust.

He still wanted to know what they could build if they didn’t have to follow any restrictions.

The head researcher and the other researchers seemed to tense up slightly when they heard the question. A brief silence fell over the group as the head researcher and the others exchanged uneasy looks, clearly unsure how to respond.

Henry’s eyes widened in particular. A flash of alarm crossed his face; he had been pushing to limit Adyr’s authority in the Human council precisely to stop a situation like this from ever appearing on the table.

He was sure that if Adyr now asked them to produce those warheads and gave them a reason that sounded even remotely reasonable, there would be no one with the power or courage to refuse him.

It was the kind of risk and disadvantage that came with allowing a single person to rule an entire race and the world, concentrating so much power in one pair of hands.

Adyr laughed loudly when he saw their faces, the sound bouncing off the smooth walls. “Why do you all look so tense? I’m just asking, not telling you to produce them.” He then met Henry’s eyes as his laughter faded, leaving only a calm, edged smile on his lips. “I’ll soon reach a level where my attacks are as strong as those toys anyway. Why would I need them? ”

His last words were enough to give the researchers a reason to relax. They let out a quiet breath, shoulders easing as they realized he was speaking the truth: once he reached that level of power on his own, whether they ever built such weapons or not would barely matter.

For Henry, however, those words sounded like a threat, a quiet echo in his chest. Once again, they reminded him that the one relying on humanity was not Adyr, but the opposite. Humanity was the one relying on Adyr just to keep standing.

Meanwhile, though they did not understand the language, Zephan and his Elders picked up on the strange atmosphere and the tension running through the Humans. They watched faces and tone instead of words but stayed quiet, waiting patiently and respectfully for the attention to return to them.

Whatever was being discussed, they felt they actually did not want to know. It seemed like the kind of topic that would shatter their understanding and make them doubt everything they had believed so far about existence and power.

Adyr turned back to Zephan and the Elders, his expression taking on an apologetic softness that made it look as if he had only just realized he’d been ignoring them. “Sorry. I just wanted to make sure this room can handle your power.”

“I’m sure it can handle a few punches and kicks without any trouble.” Zephan let out a light, effortless laugh as he spoke, his tone relaxed and confident. His attitude showed that he now trusted Human technology, especially since he had seen the endurance room with his own eyes and tested how strong it was with his own body.

What he did not realize was that Adyr was not expecting him to test his physical strength. He wanted to see Zephan’s most powerful skill combination, the kind he used only when he intended to end things.

“I was thinking of something a bit more than a few kicks and punches. I want to see that move you used on the Blood Dragon.”

A moment ago there had been no doubt, but now it began to take shape inside Zephan, a faint crease tightening between his brows. “You’re sure about this?”
