Chapter 476: Establishing Power Ranks (Part 3)
“The current heat is 300 degrees (572°F).”

The voice reported the current temperature. It had already reached a threshold of heat capable of carbonizing organic matter within seconds, the kind of scorching intensity that stripped moisture from anything living almost instantly.

It was a level of heat that could turn any plastic, rubber, wood, and textile, and of course ordinary clothing, into ruined material that could no longer survive. Everything would soften, warp, or char until nothing remained but brittle residue and distorted shapes.

The upgraded STF uniform on Adyr’s body appeared to be mostly cloth, with metal plates camouflaged as fabric reinforcing joints and areas like the abdomen and chest and covering his entire body. Even under this intensity, it showed no reaction at all. It endured the heat perfectly, as if it had been designed for a far harsher environment than this sealed chamber.

In contrast, the all-white clothes Zephan was wearing, which had been sewn by Lunari tailors, were starting to turn brown and then black. The fabric became brittle, and the fibers lost their shape, becoming weak and breaking off in thin, ash-like pieces that fell to the ground around his feet.

Zephan’s brow furrowed slightly as he realized he was losing his favorite white robe and was about to reveal his natural suit to all the observers in a shameful manner.

Deciding this was not the place to allow a scene like that, he activated a Spark skill, and a moment later faint electric currents began to materialize over his body, first as thin, flickering strands along his shoulders and arms. Then they condensed into bluish lightning, wrapping his entire figure and rapidly forming a new garment on him made of pure, glaring lightning.

“That’s a very useful skill.” Adyr looked genuinely impressed as he watched the silver-haired, silver-eyed Lunari now clad in lightning.

The flashy garment hugged Zephan’s frame and rippled with light, making him look almost like a deity when combined with his natural racial beauty.

Adyr knew exactly which Spark skill it was. The recognition surfaced immediately in his mind as he matched the sight to the records he had seen before.

It was only a Rank 2 Spark and not a unique one, but the skill was highly practical. Almost all Lunari Practitioners had it in their skill sets, keeping it as a reliable defensive tool for emergencies like this.

The Spark’s name was Thunderback Tortoise, a creature that lived in rainy, stormy regions and was often seen moving slowly under dark clouds and constant thunder. It was one of the few defense-type Sparks available to the Ignis Path.

Its low selling price in the market, ease of feeding, and remarkably effective skill were the reasons Thunderback Tortoise was very popular among Lunari and other Ignis Path Practitioners.

Zephan laughed lightly as his gaze traveled over Adyr’s suit, taking in the way the material sat on his frame. “I don’t believe it’s as useful as your armor.”

What Adyr was wearing clearly wasn’t a skill but a tailor-made suit. The fact that it was able to endure heat at this level without even discoloring was proof of how expensive it must be and how advanced the crafting techniques behind it were.

“There are many talented crafters among my people. Once we finish here, I can provide you with a custom-made one if you desire. Just tell them what style you want.” Adyr displayed his generosity and wealth as he spoke, offering a gift that made Zephan feel inferior and further indebted.

“I will gladly accept it.” It was the only answer the Lunari Ruler could give with a smiling face. There was no way a warrior would refuse a tailor-made combat suit, especially one proven in such extreme conditions.

Meanwhile, the two rulers kept chatting casually under the scorching heat. Everyone in the observation room stayed silent, their eyes glued to the screens, hands hovering over the consoles.

They kept nudging the temperature up, second by second. Watching the two monsters stand there as if nothing had changed, even when the display hit 600 degrees (1112°F) and both of them still looked perfectly fine, felt unreal. It was like looking at a simulation, not a live test.

Through their screens, the air inside seemed to shimmer constantly, bending light like a mirage. A faint hum could be heard coming from the microphones, produced by the heat distorting the air pressure and the vibration of the expanding, hot air pressing against the chamber walls.

It was a temperature comparable to standing near an active lava flow or at the core of a raging forest fire, the kind of environment where stone would crack and metals would begin to soften.

These were levels of heat; no organic material should be able to survive. Yet the living proof stood in front of their eyes, casually chatting, their posture relaxed as if they were simply standing under a harsh summer sun.

Even so, it wasn’t as visually overwhelming and shocking as the Blood Dragon, who could withstand multiple nuclear explosions and Silverlight Zephan’s strikes, or as dramatic as Adyr enduring Sevrak’s red beam attack. Those moments had been special cases, surrounded by chaos, extreme conditions, and external factors that complicated the data.

Blood Dragon wasn’t an ordinary organic lifeform, as it was a Spark.

Adyr also had endured Sevrak’s attack thanks to his bloodline talents and his Rank 4 Spark Citadelith, both acting as extraordinary shields that distorted the true limits of his flesh.

Still, seeing them withstand this level of heat using only their physical bodies gave the Researchers better data to assess how durable their flesh was without any additional protection. It stripped away external influences and left them with raw numbers based on bodily endurance.

The Lunari Elders also looked at the screens and the numbers flowing across them with strange expressions, trying to grasp how high the internal temperature had risen.

They could only make guesses without any real frame of reference, quietly aware that these values were far beyond what they could endure.

As the test screeched past the 5-minute mark, the heat finally reached 700.

When Zephan began to show clear signs of discomfort, making it seem like he had almost reached his limit, they stopped the test. None of them wanted to agitate their guest further or risk pushing him into genuine harm.

Inside the test chamber, Zephan looked exhausted. His pale skin was extremely dry, and his eyes were starting to redden as if irritated by hot air.

Adyr, however, still appeared the same as before, clearly showing he could endure much longer. His breathing was steady, and his posture remained unchanged.

Just having 905 stat points invested in his [Resilience] was enough for him to survive in this heat. On top of that, there was the extra toughness coming from his [Physique] stat, which was already approaching the 2000 mark, reinforcing his body like an internal armor.

After finishing the heat test, the examination continued. They progressed to cold, toxins, a few other trials, and, finally, gravity tests, in which Zephan demonstrated remarkable durability.

During the gravity test, in particular, he even outperformed Adyr, forcing the researchers to reexamine their studies and data to uncover the reason.
