Chapter 467: The Arrangement of the Table
They had watched the recordings of the recent battle against Sevrak. In their minds, Silverlight’s attacks still appeared as silver pillars shooting toward the sky, strikes powerful enough to erase a city, images that lingered like nightmares born of both fear and awe.

On Earth, Marcus and Vivienne had always been seen as influential and highly respected. Yet, as they watched this man—a living weapon, a ruler, a legend in his own right—bow his head toward Marielle, who had been nothing more than a worker in an orphanage until recently, their sense of importance suddenly felt thin and fragile, almost laughable.

A single scene was enough to redraw the map of who truly mattered.

They shifted their gazes from Zephan to Adyr, and understanding clicked into place with painful clarity.

A son who can make the world bow to his mother, Vivienne thought, feeling an unexpected warmth rise in her chest, something between pride and humility.

Marcus Ravencourt, a leader of a powerful family on Earth, stood there with mixed emotions tightening behind his calm expression. Only now did he fully grasp that the man chosen by the 12 City Managers to represent humanity and carry it forward was not just a convenient symbol. He truly was worthy of all the praise, and perhaps of more than people and media had thrown his way.

Marcus had never been a man who feared all power resting in a single pair of hands. For years, he had managed his company and his family by being the sole authority, the final decision-maker, and the one voice that mattered when it came to direction and survival.

So, seeing that Adyr not only possessed overwhelming strength but also the composure and presence to bear such responsibility, he felt something loosen inside him, a small but sincere sense of relief.

To their surprise and quiet delight, Adyr then turned toward them and did not treat them as footnotes in the room. He brought them into the center of the moment as well.

“This man is my trustworthy advisor, Marcus. He has a very special talent for trade and economics. And Vivienne, whom I have known since my birth, has always been by my side, helping my family and me simply with her presence.”

Marcus and Vivienne both looked genuinely taken aback by the weight of the praise, their eyes widening for a fraction of a second.

They had never been that close to Adyr, at least not in the way his words now suggested, but hearing him introduce them with such high praise felt like being handed recommendation letters for this world, the kind that could open doors for them anywhere in the Outer Region.

They quickly gathered themselves, lowered their heads again, and greeted Zephan and his elders with renewed seriousness, this time not only as representatives of Earth but as people Adyr had personally chosen to stand near him.

Zephan gave them a small nod in return, a subtle tilt of the head that still carried real respect. He did not care that they were mortals. Hearing that they held important places within Adyr’s circle was more than enough reason for him to acknowledge their value.

He himself kept mortal advisors in his kingdom, people who helped him handle matters he either lacked the time for or the specific expertise to manage, so this kind of structure was nothing unfamiliar to him.

The person most shaken by this entire exchange, however, was Henry, still standing at the threshold of the door, watching everything from just outside.

He looked at Marcus and Vivienne’s faces and could clearly see how happy and satisfied they were, how easily Adyr had reaffirmed their loyalty with a few well-chosen sentences.

With just a few words he pulled them completely to his side, Henry thought, feeling the last fragments of his carefully designed two-faction system crumble into dust.

Adyr was not only someone who could rule through raw strength and fear. Watching this scene, Henry was forced to accept that Adyr also possessed the political instincts to draw people toward him, to bind them with recognition and respect instead of chains.

That combination, he realized, was not simply impressive. It was dangerously astonishing.

Adyr also did not forget Vesha and introduced her as a very good friend, which made her face flush with a mix of embarrassment and excitement.

Not long ago, she had been nothing more than a powerless young lady from a small household in a small kingdom. Now, she found herself in a room full of powerful figures, speaking and moving among them as if she belonged there. The change had come so fast that a part of her could not help wondering if all of this was just an illusion.

“Then, let us take our seats.”

Having finished the introductions and fully taken control of the room, Adyr guided his mother and Niva back to their previous places near the head of the table, seating them once more as the honored guests of the gathering.

From that point, the remaining seating arrangements fell into place almost effortlessly. Adyr did not even need to gesture to show Zephan and his 2 elders where they should sit. Marcus and Vivienne, already sensitive to the flow of the room, stepped back at the right moment and quietly offered their own seats, the places to the left of the head of the table.

At Henry’s call, a small army of servants poured into the room. In a matter of moments, they brought in new chairs, cleared the table completely, and removed every trace of the previous meal. The lingering smell of food faded and was replaced by the clean, light scent of the room itself, and shortly after, fresh dishes arrived, filling every plate and glass as if the table had always been prepared for this exact moment.

All of this happened within seconds. Zephan and the other natives of the Beyond watched the entire process in silent awe, their eyes tracking every movement.

Seeing that Humans showed this level of discipline not only in their military but even in their butlers and servants, all moving with the professionalism of soldiers on a field, led them to a quiet conclusion: perhaps the Metalbenders were, in their own way, as battle-loving as the Lunari. The thought made them feel a little closer to this race.

Once everyone was seated and the extras had left the room, leaving only the main figures behind, Henry took his place at the far end of the table with Rhys beside him, while Adyr settled into the head seat; with that, the room felt as if everything had finally felt properly arranged.
