408: Chapter 407: Talking to Cloud 2 408: Chapter 407: Talking to Cloud 2 “But before we could even go to our mission site, we were suddenly put to sleep, and everything had changed after we woke up.

A lot of my comrades had been bitten by zombies, and only three people, including me, were left in our unit.

We couldn’t proceed with our mission any longer, so we decided to go back to the north base.

The place where my friend was staying was near where we had stopped by, so we managed to meet up.

When I met my friend, five out of the eight pigeons I had were already dead.

One pigeon was asleep, and only two were awake.

Traveling back to the north base was hard, and there were many delays on the road, mainly because of the zombies and the weather.

That’s why we only managed to arrive at the northern region more than two months ago.

After arriving in this region, I finally sent one of the pigeons that hadn’t changed since the beginning.

The one that had been asleep also woke up afterward, then grew bigger and became more intelligent.

It became more intelligent, but I wasn’t sure if it would change further, so I didn’t dare use it to send messages back to my family.

If the pigeon suddenly became violent and injured one of my family members while sending a message, I’d surely regret it.

So, even though it was obviously more intelligent than the others, I just let it stay with me.

I’ll probably use it after making sure that it really won’t attack anyone.” “You’ve already arrived here in the north more than two months ago.

Why are you guys still here-and being chased by a lot of zombie rats at that?” “We met mutant cows on our way, and a lot of the people with me were injured, so we had to stop to recuperate.

Afterward, there was also the long winter and then the sudden rain.

Fortunately, the building we stayed in was high and sturdy enough to withstand the blizzard and the flood around.

But because of that, we had been trapped in the building for a long time since the water level hadn’t dried up for quite a while.

After staying in the building for so many days, the food reserves we had wouldn’t last long.

So, we had to enter a more populated town nearby to look for food supplies, as those in easier places without a lot of zombies had already been looted by others.

We killed a lot of zombies in that town and gathered enough food supplies for me and my people to last until we reached the north base.

Unfortunately, that town was also a den of zombie rats.

When we were about to leave, we noticed that the number of zombie rats around us was increasing.

When I felt that something was off, I immediately asked the others to swiftly board their cars and drive out as fast as they could.” Afterward, we kept driving at top speed to avoid the zombie rats.

And we were indeed successful in maintaining our top speed for a long time.

However, the number of zombie rats multiplied greatly until their numbers became very frightening.

The horde of zombie rats seemed bent on eating me and the others, so we had to keep driving without stopping, hoping to get away from them even though the hope was slim.

Until we met you guys, who had very good abilities that could make barricades around a place very easily,” Cloud said, then asked, “By the way, Treyton, how did you guys even manage to strengthen your abilities?” “Before answering your question, you should let me know first how you guys managed to strengthen your abilities.

Based on what I saw, the abilities of the people you’re with are also stronger than usual.” “We’re always training and using our abilities to improve.

What about you guys?

We could give you some supplies and other things after you share how to get stronger.” “No need to give us anything.

We already told the base about it, so we’ve already received a lot of gifts and rewards from them.

So, to increase your abilities…” Treyton explained how to strengthen their abilities properly, and Cloud listened carefully while also asking about some parts that he didn’t immediately understand or things that he wanted to make clearer.

Based on Treyton’s tone and reactions, it was obvious that even though his relationship with Cloud wasn’t as close as with Nathan and his other friends, Cloud was still an acquaintance he got along with.

After Treyton explained the methods to Cloud, both of them continued to talk about other things, especially those related to zombies, mutant animals, and other encounters they had along the road.

Both of them had families that they belong to and some things couldn’t be said clearly as they might not be good for themselves.

So, it was clear that both of them started their conversation because they wanted the information the other had.

So, they tacitly shared what they could and avoided what they couldn’t.

Both of them knew what they were doing and what their limits were, so they talked for a long time about the things they wanted to exchange until Nathan came out of the tent.

“Nice meeting you here, Cloud!

I didn’t expect to see you around here!” Nathan said, happily joining their conversation.

After Nathan joined Treyton and Cloud’s conversation, the previously purposeful discussion between the two finally stopped, and many things that weren’t that useful were added, as Nathan was asking a lot of questions and talking about many topics.

Because of Nathan, they learned that aside from Cloud’s three other colleagues and his friend, the rest of the people who followed them were those they had met in different circumstances.

They also learned that they had encountered many hostile people along the way and that most of those who were now with them were people they had rescued from bad guys.
