Chapter 912: Chapter 912: ‘Plunderer?’
Bea did not dare contest with a demigod in its mindscape, even if it seemed weakened. That would be absolute suicide.

Even 1% of its power would be a dimensional reduction blow against her.

Like a human stepping onto an ant.

“Don’t worry about it, that’s not what I want you to do. Although I like the kid, I would never risk you’re well-being for him.” Kain said, voice low but unwavering, upon sensing her concerns. “But who said the channel opened by the Empty Throne Effect can only be one way? It’s still risky but you’re not going in. Just knocking on the door and hoping that the ‘owner of the house’ has enough sense remaining to leave the burning down building on his own.”

A heartbeat of silence.

Then Bea understood.

The next second, Kain sensed a rapid decline in her spiritual power as she extended the Pale Thought Field to envelope the cocoon and her splits instantly died inside.

A soft, soundless annihilation. No resistance. No trace.

Bea shuddered in his mind. “All…erased instantly.” This once again raise her conviction that the demigod level is still too far above for her to get mixed up in fighting directly.

“Keep going,” Kain said quietly.

More splits swarmed forward—tens of thousands—then hundreds of thousands.

Each winked out like sparks in a storm.

Bea’s paused not sure if this plan will work. It honestly felt like her splits were dying before they could even fully form in his mind, she had no idea if their ‘death’s’ can still trigger her skill. “I can’t push too deep into his mind. They pretty much die instantly—”

“You don’t need deeper.” Kain stepped forward again, violet light pulsing along his arm. “Just open a crack on the surface.”

But Bea need not worry, as usual her dying splits created microscopic disturbances in the mental space of the target.

And those disturbances gradually became a fracture.

And then a channel. An unstable one, but a channel nonetheless.

The cocoon convulsed in response, tightening, resisting, trying to seal itself.

Then the clearing’s floor vibrated.

Above them, the dragon’s translucent body twitched.

Its violet eyes peeled open.

The dragon’s gaze swept the basin.

Ancient. Heavy. Ageless.

The air turned icy.

A whisper rode the vibrations.

“Do not interfere.”

The cocoon pulsed, growing thicker—

—and Bea screamed.

Her mind fractured for a moment as another million splits died in an instant and she suffered backlash.

Even the channel she’d formed at great sacrifice was beginning to close.

‘K-Kain—! I’m losing connection—’

“Try your best to hold on a little longer” Kain said anxiously, while transferring some source energy to Bea, hoping that the higher-order energy would help. “Just hold the channel a little longer and hopefully—”

“There is no channel. At least not one stable enough for a soul to pass—”

“There will be” Kain said, with a strong conviction as he continued to feed her more energy.

Suddenly, the cocoon shuddered violently.

A hairline crack appeared in the mind of the boy, one that only Bea could see.

Well…Bea and whatever was trying to come through it…

Bea gasped, her mental voice trembling, terrified that the demigod would come to her through the channel. “K-Kain—something’s—moving—”

Inside the crack—a faint light.

Thin. Fading. Barely more than a spark.

The light wavered, struggling to squeeze through the fracture Bea and Kain sustained by sheer force and sacrifice.

Bea’s breath hitched in fear and then calmed. “It’s him! He’s dying, but his consciousness escaped!”

Kain could finally see the escaped consciousness via his connection with Bea. He didn’t hesitate.

He seized the light with his source energy—gentle as cupped hands—wrapping it in a protective shell.

The spark stabilized.

Bea enveloped it mentally, holding it like the most fragile thing she’d ever touched.

Unfortunately, the good times didn’t last long…

The cocoon buckled.

Then convulsed.

Then ripped open.

Dark fragments scattered like shattered glass, dissolving into black and violet smoke.

And the boy floated upright.

His eyes opened.

They were bright violet—so luminous they looked carved from burning amethyst.

Black scales crept across his skin, covering his limbs, curling over his cheeks, spreading like ink. His fingers elongated into clawed talons. Dark smoke coiled from his mouth with each breath.

The boy was gone.

Something else breathed through him now.

The dragon laughed—not aloud, but into the air, vibrating the ground. “Still too weak… but functional.”

Then the boy’s head jerked unnaturally.

His eyes locked onto Kain.

And he vanished.

He reappeared a breath later, a clawed hand already swinging down.

Kain barely managed to block—it felt like he’d been struck by a falling mountain. The impact blasted him backward across the basin.

Aegis leapt forward instantly, forming a shield of earth—but the boy punched through it, shattering Aegis’ armor and sending him skidding into a wall of twisted black trees.

Queen darted to Kain’s side, healing his injuries. A necessary measure, as he realized with a sinking feeling that the wounds caused by the demigod couldn’t be easily healed by his new body, composed of Source energy.

It seemed that his newfound ‘invincibility’ was nothing before a demigod, even a weakened one. Or perhaps there really was just something extra special about this one.

The boy landed on the cracked ground, head tilting, movements jerky, as if learning the body he was wearing.

Then the dragon spoke through him again—

“Strange…I sense Divine Energy on you, but it seems not to be purely from this planet. Are you perhaps…also a Plunderer?”

The dragon’s eyes that had previously been looking at him only like prey, began to take on a weary tinge.

No being that takes on the path of stealing the collective of luck and fate of another divine being’s planet, also known ‘Divine Energy’, was good and simple. Nor were their followers. Which is what it assumed this weak human before it was—after all, he was far too weak to be a Divine Being himself.

It had thought that its ‘Great Mother’ was the only one eying this planet that was like a ‘fat piece of meat’, but it would appear that in the time it had been imprisoned here, another competitor had appeared.

It debated between killing Kain or just escaping, since it didn’t have much knowledge of the outside world.

For all it knew, its Great Mother and the one behind this human were in a cooperative relationship. After all, they’d even brought its ‘vessel’ to it. Although they didn’t allow it to consume the vessel’s original soul, that’s not enough for the complete breakdown of a cooperative relationship—especially if such cooperation still has elements of competition.

‘Plunderer?’

But the one who had caused all of its overthinking was even more confused…

‘What the heck is it talking about?’
