Chapter 463: Stop Talking!

“No, Lil. Uncle Dan is not talking about your kind of pets,” I hurriedly said, fearing Lilith would call one of her undead familiars to show off to his family. Then, turning to my mom, I said, “Mom, could you babysit Lilith for the night? Janice and the rest of us are helping Dee3 with the funeral arrangements.”

“For the entire night?” Mary asked, eyeing her husband. Surprisingly, she didn’t seem to have a problem with babysitting someone else’s child for the night, but she couldn’t just decide without checking with her husband first. Seeing this, a part of me was worried about my parent’s marriage.

“What kind of funeral takes an entire night, not that I am complaining. But where is she going to sleep?” Alwin glared at his son, as if asking, ‘Young man, have you lost your mind?’

‘Dad, I don’t know if you can hear me, but I’m sorry. Please, bear with it this one night,’ I pleaded with my father with my eyes, adding, “Lilith can sleep in my room or Lyra’s. Whichever she prefers.”

“Wait, does that mean both of you will be spending the entire night out?” Mary exclaimed, just when Alwin caved to his son’s excessive demand.

“Yes. But mom before you say anything. It’s on the estate and I promise not to go anywhere near alcohol or do anything stupid,” I begged with my mother as I subtly put Lilith on her feet and pushed her to hurry into the house before my parent’s maybe turned into a resounding no.

“Why? Go have fun. But make sure you don’t go too far like this afternoon. Just promise you will keep an eye on your sister. I worry about that one,” Mary sighed, fearing her daughter would never give her grandkids with her current life choices, maybe a few bastards. That was a serious possibility.

Now that they were no longer living paycheck to paycheck and had a small fortune, Mary was beginning to loosen up. Her mindset grew from ‘My kids should always make the right choices in life’ to ‘Hopefully, my kids will grow with every mistake they make.’ Why the sudden growth? Because they could afford to. She had grown from a poor mom to a rich mom.

“Ace, check on Mandy too. Many of Dee3’s guests look like trouble,” Pam said, recalling the handsome men among the guests. There were just too many of them.

“Wait, Mandy? Isn’t she home?” I asked in confusion.

“No, she left earlier this evening, saying Lyra needed her help with something. I am guessing it’s the funeral,” Pam informed with details, while glancing at him suspiciously.

“Yes, I remember now. She went to make arrangements for catering service for the funeral at short notice. You guys have nothing to worry, both of them are smart and I will be there if they need me,” I lied, pretending to have a small lapse in my memory. Then I tried to change the topic using my cousin, “Have you guys checked on Danny? Last I checked, he was holed up in his room playing games.”

“Now you remember you have a brother?” Mary mocked with a grim voice. She really didn’t like how these kids were leaving Danny out of everything. If she was this offended, she couldn’t fathom how hurt Danny was.

I immediately regret my opening my mouth and felt like stuffing my foot in my mouth seeing how I made it worse. I should have just kept my mouth shut. Shaking my head, I decided to turn around and escape, without turning back no matter how loud my mother called for me. I knew I was only getting myself into a lot more trouble, but anything I said now would only make the situation a hundred times worse.

“You are right, Dan. Our kids are really insensitive and spoiled,” Mary said, unable to face Pam.

“Mary, I like that you’re finally agreeing with me on something, but if I were in their place, I wouldn’t take Danny either,” Dan spoke honestly, only to feel his wife’s ruthless left elbow on his defenseless right ribcage. He may have had one too many beers, but it still hurt. And it would hurt a lot more when he was sober in the morning.

“Aww, babe, that hurt. But be honest. Seventeen-year-old you would too, right?” Dan asked, reaching for another beer from the cooler, but his brother cut him off, seeing he was drunk and on a truth spree. Any more beer in him and they might have to carry him to his bed.

“Dan, this attitude of yours is what spoiled all our kids. Fortunately, Mandy doesn’t have your DNA, so she turned out okay, but my poor baby boy had the odds stacked against him before he was even born,” Pam blamed Dan for everything bad in her son’s life. The duo began to bicker causing the other couple to put down their liquor and step in out of worry.

Meanwhile, their beloved son was vigorously humping a silicone adult doll in missionary style. He and his room stank of sweat and seen with a hint of bbq. He didn’t appear to be bummed out about not being invited to Janice’s party or Dee3’s funeral… who were they fooling? It was clearly a party. Otherwise, who holds a funeral at night?

Danny seemed to be enjoying the rare alone time he got with his adult doll since his relatives moved in. He didn’t indulge himself this much since the first couple months his young aunt gifted him the doll. He planned to pull an all-nighter tonight.

…

‘I didn’t think it would be so easy to infiltrate the void-tier curse array,’ Kidd thought to himself as he entered the array covering the Lander estate in his work disguise, a young, handsome male in his mid-twenties a.k.a Agent King Kidd.

Kidd thought of using this disguise to hide the fact that he was actually a kid after he found explaining himself and proving his abilities to every damn agent he worked with was a hassle he would rather avoid going through again until the said agents had proven themselves as worthy and not a liability.

Without wasting any time, Kidd headed for his target. It seemed he did care about talking action with the crowd present. After all, he did have the licence to kill anyone.
