Chapter 415: Giant Door
“That’s one giant ass door,” Neraxis remarked, whistling.

The mansion wasn’t that fancy, but the dungeon sure as shit caught his attention. Or rather, the door that was sealing something inside it.

“Is this as far as you got?” he asked, looking it up and down. “It does look big, but by no means does it look sturdy.”

It had some intricate patterns lining each side, but he wasn’t brave enough to try and decipher them. After all, the last thing he wanted tonight was to explode into a million bits.

However…

“Honestly… I never tried to open it,” Celina admitted. “I could. I definitely could. But it just didn’t feel right.”

“Why not?” Neraxis asked, puzzled. “Seems like a fun thing to check out. I surely couldn’t resist.”

Celina shook her head. “It’s not that. I guess… I was thinking of it as a surprise? I wanted to show it to someone special. Aurelia is special to me, but she’s just a friend. You, on the other hand…”

A faint blush spread across her cheeks. She didn’t have to go into further detail as Neraxis understood pretty much everything she was trying to get across.

He liked her too, after all.

“I see…” Neraxis smiled. “Then, do you want to open it now? I’ll back off a little.”

“No need for that,” Celina replied and approached the giant rune-carved door.

She placed her hand on it, and in the next instant, the entire door crumbled. She brushed the dust off her hands, then nodded at him.

“I accidentally broke it last time. Aurelia managed to keep it together with her Light magic.”

“You don’t say…” Neraxis chuckled. “Fine. Let’s go inside, shall we?”

He did say that, but he was pretty spooked. She opened the door, but he couldn’t see anything beyond it. For all he knew, this was some hidden rift, or maybe an inheritance chamber with a legendary dragon god inside it.

Sure, he was being a bit silly, but having an open mind really didn’t make him less spooked.

At the same time, he had Sparky on his shoulder, who seemed to like him greatly. Sparky kept licking the side of his head and messing up his hair. Despite that, Neraxis didn’t swipe him away. Having a cute little dragon on his shoulder was any man’s dream.

I really am being too childish, aren’t I? Neraxis thought, and after a deep breath, he took the first step through the door.

Immediately, the veil that had been obscuring the entrance vanished, and what replaced it was a pleasant aroma. It reminded him of a raspberry pie, similar to the ones his mother had used to make when he was younger.

But when his vision finally settled, he soon realized that he was inside some sort of inn. Not only that, it was packed full of people.

People might be a rather broad term. After all, half of these individuals were monsters.

Humans, draconians, lizards, some werewolves, and normal wolves. All of them were huddled around tables, chatting and eating food without a care in the world.

But once they spotted Neraxis, and Celina who finally went through the portal, they halted.

One of the werewolves stood up with a confused look and approached them, stopping right in front of Neraxis.

“How’d you get here?” the werewolf asked. “Pretty sure we didn’t give out any invites to humans as of late. Did you find a door?”

Celina stepped forward and spoke in Neraxis’s stead. It seemed like she was a little afraid of the werewolf accidentally harming him.

However, what she didn’t know was that despite Neraxis’s feeble exterior, he could, at any given moment, draw upon a portion of his power and destroy half of the universe.

But alas, wasting power was not on his bucket list.

“We found a door inside a mansion,” Celina said respectfully. “It was buried inside a cave. Not sure who it belonged to, but after we opened the door, we arrived here.”

“I can see that.” The werewolf sighed, his black fur slightly brushing against the wind.

But when Neraxis spotted that little detail, he soon saw the door to his side being kicked open, revealing a human with a very long gray beard, perhaps the longest Neraxis had ever seen in his life.

Yet despite that massive commotion, not even a single person glanced toward the man. It was almost as if this kind of spectacle was a daily occurrence.

“Don’t mind Johnathan,” the werewolf commented. “Despite his appearance, he’s actually twenty-two years old. He just ages a little faster than normal humans. He is similar to demi-humans though, like us.”

“Werewolves are demi-humans?” Neraxis raised a brow. “I thought you people were just an individual race.”

The werewolf frowned. “Discrimination like that was abolished nearly five centuries ago. Now, everyone who is not a human is considered a demi-human.”

Neraxis tilted his head. “Even rats?”

“Rats…?”

“What about dogs? Normal dogs. Are they demi-humans too?”

Celina coughed, interrupting them. “That’s enough of that… Could you please tell us where we are? If we’re not allowed here, then we can go back.”

The werewolf shook his head. “My name is Girard. I’m the Shadow Werewolf chieftain. As for where you are… Consider this one of the many astral stores. If you require sustenance, you come here and get it free of charge.”

Girard grinned. “Or that’s on the surface. With every meal, however, you get more and more addicted to the food, to the point where just leaving this inn would send you into withdrawal. I, personally, am not sure if I’m still the chieftain. Frankly, I left my duties behind nearly a decade ago just so I could eat some food here.”

Upon hearing that, Sparky began wagging his tail. However, the moment he did that, Girard’s attention immediately shot toward the dragon on Neraxis’s shoulder.

And the reaction that he was expecting when they first arrived finally happened.

“Y-You! Why do you have a dragon with you!?”
