The SSS Ranked Villain's Return - Chapter 407
Chapter 407: Remembrance
As her words hung in the air, Neraxis felt like a wave of emotion had hit him all at once.
His chest tightened as he stared at her beautiful, tear-filled crimson eyes.
She was his everything.
Such a long time had passed, and yet… the memories they had shared, they were all coming back to him.
The first time they met, and the many moments they had shared in each other’s comfort.
It was almost like he had never left. But he did, and that was where the problem stemmed from in the first place.
Still, even as the seconds passed, he couldn’t mutter a single word. It just didn’t feel like he had any right to speak at the moment.
But when he finally mustered up the courage, he couldn’t even get a word out as Evangeline leaned in, placing her soft lips onto his.
She cupped his cheeks and closed her eyes, deepening the kiss.
His chest tightened further as he indulged in the kiss, and after just a few seconds, Evangeline parted her lips, her face flushed.
“You really have terrible timing, don’t you?” Evangeline mumbled. “What is it now… a year, two years, since we last saw each other?”
She narrowed her eyes and spoke in a stern tone. “Let me back inside your mind.”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Neraxis replied in a low voice. “You see… I’ve been busy for the last couple of years. You could say millions, but truthfully, I’ve lost count of how much time I’ve truly spent away from you.”
“Clearly.” Evangeline nodded, wiping away a single tear. “But I want to see it. I want to experience everything that you’ve gone through… can I?”
Neraxis stared at her for a few moments, unsure of what to say.
It wouldn’t kill her, but the things he had in his Void realm were not something he wanted Evangeline to see.
After all, killing billions with the snap of a finger because an experiment had not gone the way he planned was… cruel.
He knew it was cruel, but he still did it. And because of that, he didn’t want Evangeline seeing this side of him.
But alas, he wanted transparency above all else, so with a heavy heart, he focused on his mind.
And almost like a weight had been lifted off his mind, a soothing sensation enveloped him.
When he met Evangeline’s eyes, he saw them glow for a moment, then settle down. It was almost like she had managed to see everything he had experienced in less than a second.
And once her eyes landed on his, he felt a strange profoundness coming from them, which meant that his suspicions were correct.
“Hmm…” Evangeline tilted her head slowly with a mixed expression. “That’s it?”
Her eyes lingered on him for a few moments longer than usual.
“…?”
“What?”
Evangeline continued. “I mean… with all that you’ve been hiding, I thought there was more to it. But you’re just taking your anger out on Lagus. Or I guess, you were since he’s dead now.”
She took a few steps back and twirled on her heel, an amused look on her face.
“But you thought quite a lot about me, haven’t you?” she muttered, pouting slightly. “You’re a big idiot.”
Neraxis sighed. “I know. I should’ve come back sooner. But now I played around with Lagus, and nearly got myself killed. I’m sure you’ve seen my memories. I’ve become a mortal.”
“That’s a very majestic way of putting it.” Evangeline giggled. “Well… it’s fine. Now that we’re together, we have all the time in the world.”
She appeared in front of him in an instant, then grabbed his hand. Before he could react, the two vanished.
They didn’t teleport; Evangeline was just that fast.
But they didn’t travel for long, as only a few moments later, they arrived in some sort of bar. It was crowded with people, yet for some reason, none of them attacked Neraxis on sight.
“Oh? Is it that lad? He’s back?”
“Seems like it. Neraxis Valen, welcome back.”
The two who spoke were the bartenders, but they made Neraxis even more confused.
“What is this place, Evangeline?” he asked.
Evangeline was slightly dazed, but then she turned toward him, a small smirk appearing on her face.
“This is a place I bought with your money. All the employees are vampires, so you don’t have to worry about betrayal. If they so much as have a negative thought about you, their heads are going to explode.”
“As for why we’re here…” Her voice fell lower. “I’m still digesting your memories since, well… you did spend a very long time here. Because of that, I want us to catch up on an old promise.”
A shiver ran down his spine. “…Now?”
“Now.” Evangeline nodded, her smirk widening. “I feel like if we don’t do it now, then you’re going to find a way to run away again. And believe it or not, I don’t want you to run away from me again.”
She took a few steps closer and wrapped her arms around his neck, then leaned in, passionately kissing him on the lips.
She was very assertive, and Neraxis knew exactly what she wanted.
A kid.
He had promised her that they would do it soon, but he couldn’t hold true to his promise. He made her wait years, and he himself was out of commission for even longer.
His hand assertively traveled down her body as he put a single arm around her waist, pulling her closer.
The kiss was even more intoxicating than the last, and just like that, they had made their way up the stairs and into a large, single-bedroom.
Neraxis picked her up, and while kissing, brought her over to the bed.
He gently set her down and calmed his mind.
The reason they had set a date for this was because they planned on doing it normally. None of that roleplay.
And from the longing look in Evangeline’s eyes, he knew that was what she wanted too.
