Chapter 406: The Fateful Reunion
“Don’t even start,” Neraxis replied with a scoff. “I’m fine with the food, and if anything, just give me some monster blood. That should be enough, right?”

“I mean… sure? But why would you want to drink monster blood when there’s a human in front of you? I read enough vampire comics to know that vampires don’t react well to animal blood,” Raguel said plainly. “Also, you’re bleeding from your nose. Get that shit fixed, would you?”

Hearing that, Neraxis’s eyes slightly widened. He wiped away the blood, then glanced toward the waitress.

She didn’t suspect a thing, or rather, she pretended not to. But it was not necessary, this caution.

He wasn’t planning on turning into some sort of mosquito who went around biting people just to suck their blood.

Therefore, Neraxis slammed the table and stood up, walking out of the coffee shop.

He roamed through the streets for a few moments until, eventually, Raguel appeared beside him.

“Raguel, whose memories are you using right now?” Neraxis asked out of nowhere.

“Hmm? Mine. Or rather, yours and mine,” Raguel replied plainly. “Are you worried I’m going to turn evil like those sentient robots in movies? Nah, you don’t have to worry. This power creep is going to fade in like an hour. After that, I’ll cook you some food.”

Although Neraxis was skeptical, he simply nodded, agreeing. But there was one more thing that troubled him, a concern.

“Can you feel Evangeline?”

“I can feel all of them. They’re healthy. But they’re also slightly sad. They haven’t seen you in ages. My… you should see the look on Evangeline’s face. She’s practically begging you to come back…”

He froze. “Shit…”

“What did you do?” Neraxis asked with a frown.

“Oh… it’s nothing…” Raguel scratched his cheek. “Would you be mad if I told you she found out someone was spying on her?”

“…”

“You fucking idiot.”

“Haaa?” Raguel’s eyes widened. “That’s the spirit! I knew that stupid past self of yours was still there. Give me a high five, call me a bastard.”

“Back off… rather, teleport us away somewhere,” Neraxis said hurriedly. “If she finds me, she’s going to kill me.”

“Oh. Sir, yes sir,” Raguel replied, saluting.

Then, he extended his hand. “Come, I’ll take us to the Arctic lands. You should be fine, I think. You still got that sun vampire shit of yours, so I doubt you’d freeze to death.”

Neraxis nodded and grabbed his hand, and in the next moment, Raguel vanished.

Yes, only Raguel vanished. Neraxis was still there, holding out his hand like an idiot.

“Raguel…” Neraxis mumbled. “What do you think you’re doing?”

[Awh… my bad. That was totally my bad. I never teleported before, and I remembered you used to teleport Evangeline naked. I didn’t really wanna see your junk. Give me a few moments, I’ll figure it out and come back, yeah?] Raguel replied inside his mind.

And that was when Neraxis realized the severity of the situation.

Raguel had left him for dead. He was finished.

Therefore, without wasting a single moment, Neraxis ran ahead, heading straight for the mall.

It wasn’t as empty as he had expected. In fact, there were thousands of people present, almost like before.

But once they saw a handsome, white-haired man running around, they soon realized who he was.

“Oi, isn’t that the guy?”

“That’s definitely the guy… does he still have that bounty?”

“Of course he does… let’s get him!”

Just like that, he got a whole raincloud of awakened people running after him.

Neraxis dashed inside a clothing store, got himself some glasses, a wig, and even a hat.

After that, he dashed through the back door, making his way outside as he continued running from the masses.

Yet he wasn’t that successful, as only a few seconds later, he was struck in the side, sending him flying into the nearby fence, denting it.

He groaned slightly, then lifted his gaze.

There were hundreds of people in front of him, all fighting one another over who was going to be the one to bring him in.

But that was when a single one took out a gun and pulled the trigger.

Neraxis’s reflexes kicked in, and in the nick of time, he managed to raise his hand and catch the bullet with his forearm.

It hit his bone, failing to pass through, but it only put into perspective how normal he had become.

Yet at the same time, he was furious.

For so long, he was treated as a guardian deity, one that overlooked the infinite multi-universe he himself had created.

But now, he was reduced to a mere mortal, one that was being picked on by literal ants.

Neraxis narrowed his eyes at them, his anger boiling.

“How impertinent…” Neraxis muttered. “You’re all so very greedy. People like you would be liberated in an instant on my worlds.”

“Huh? The fuck are you on about? Did that earlier blow make you turn into an idiot?”

Neraxis ignored that comment, and with a groan, he stood up.

He extended his hand forward out of instinct.

The space shook violently as spatial fissures appeared in the sky, causing miniature meteorites to rain down on the people in front of him.

But when they began to scramble around, trying to run away or capture Neraxis, he struck the final nail in the coffin.

He clapped his hands once, and in the next moment, all those who were before him turned to dust.

Even though he had controlled his powers, a portion of the mall was decimated, but not enough to collapse it.

But with such a forbidden power came a cost.

Neraxis fell backward, nearly hitting his head on a rock.

His heart began to palpitate, feeling as though it might explode at any moment.

And the more time that passed, the more pain he found himself in.

Eventually, it became so unbearable, he started closing his eyes, accepting the fact that he had likely just ended his own life.

But when his eyes were half-closed, he saw a figure descend from the sky.

It was a woman with long, yet slightly curly red hair and piercing crimson eyes. She held a sword at her waist, one which was pointed toward Neraxis.

Of course, it was none other than Evangeline herself.

Once their gazes met, her eyes shook as she tossed the sword to the ground.

Her eyes widened as she descended onto the ground, then took a few steps forward, arriving right above him.

She crouched down and parted his glasses, then his wig and cap.

A single tear fell from her eye, landing right on his cheek.

Evangeline cupped his cheeks and leaned down until her face was mere centimeters from his.

And of course, the voice he had long forgotten rang through his ears like a beautiful melody.

“Neraxis… you’re alive…”
