Chapter 405: Coffee Shop
The moment Neraxis uttered those words, he turned on his heel and thrust his arm forward.

He pushed the man away, then grabbed the knife off the counter and, in the next instant, threw the knife directly into the man’s throat.

Yet despite this quick sequence of events, once the knife reached the man’s throat, it bent, then broke off.

What followed was a bout of laughter.

“Pfft… hahaha! What was that? Were you trying to kill me? That might be a bit difficult to do since I’m a C-ranked awakened,” the man said with a smirk, then pointed at his friends. “And those two are both D-ranked awakened, so knives and all this stupid stuff won’t work on us. Only mana will.”

Of course, guns could also work, but Neraxis had no way of disarming the man before he got shot. Therefore, he was not left with many choices here.

But before he could wonder what else to do, the ground slightly shook.

In the next instant, the roof above their heads was split open, and through it came Raguel.

Yet instead of landing on the floor beside them, he landed directly on the man who held the gun, squashing him.

Neraxis opened his mouth, but before he could utter a word, Raguel raised his hand and snapped his fingers, killing the two companions of the man by making their heads explode.

And just like that, the altercation was finished.

“Gosh, I’m starving,” Raguel said plainly and approached the stunned receptionist.

“Give me a… uhh… What is the best coffee again?” he mumbled. “You know what? Just give me orange juice!”

The receptionist, Rina, flinched.

“W-We don’t have any orange juice. We have apple juice if you’re interested…?”

“Apple juice? Hmm… very well. Two glasses of apple juice, one for me and one for Neraxis. Make sure to pour it in a big glass. Oh! And get me a side dish. Anything is fine.”

Rina nodded slowly, then pressed a few buttons on the register. In the next moment, she glanced over at them.

“That’ll be 20 crowns.”

“For two glasses of apple juice? Fucking hell…” Raguel scoffed. “Fine, Neraxis. Pay her.”

“With what?” Neraxis sighed. “You of all people should know that all my possessions have been lost or compromised.”

“Then how am I supposed to pay her?” Raguel asked, worried.

That was when he spotted the wallet of the dead man below them.

He crouched down with a cheeky smile and took the wallet, checked for money, then approached the receptionist and gave her the whole wallet.

It was bloodied, and a bit of brain matter was even scattered on it, giving off an ominous and disgusting look.

And yet despite that, Raguel snapped his fingers confidently and spoke.

“Keep the change.”

“…”

Rina hesitantly took the wallet and tossed it aside.

And like that, she went over to get them apple juice.

As for Raguel, he turned back to Neraxis and gave him a thumbs up.

“How’s it feel being powerless?” Raguel asked.

Neraxis rolled his eyes. “How does it feel being powerful?”

“Ha… reversing the question on me? That’s no fun,” Raguel complained, then let out a sigh. “I’d like to say that it’s everything I’ve ever imagined, but it’s not really, is it?”

“What do you mean?” Neraxis asked and sat down at one of the seats that didn’t have bloodstains on it.

All he did was push away the debris that had fallen when Raguel demolished the roof.

“What I mean… Have you ever played tennis?” Raguel asked out of nowhere.

“…?” Neraxis tilted his head. “What are you talking about now?”

“Okay, so you know how easy tennis looks, right? But in reality, it’s pretty difficult, right? Right?” Raguel continued energetically. “Basically, I thought life was tennis, but now that I’m here, I’m a bit confused. Though not in a bad way. Your influence, or rather, your influence before your brain was all fucked up, was a good motivator for me.”

“And you couldn’t have used a simpler example?” Neraxis sighed. “Well… I can’t really lecture you on life. I have never lived a full life myself, after all.”

“Attachment issues?” Raguel mused, then let out a chuckle. “Just joking…”

Despite that, Neraxis couldn’t help but bring one point up.

“What’s up with you? Ever since you got a body and my powers, you’ve started acting strange.”

“Ah… that.” Raguel scratched his cheek. “I’ve read a lot of comics while I was trapped inside your mind. Turns out that one of your incarnations was a total nerd. He read nearly all manga in existence, and… I’m blabbering again, aren’t I?”

Neraxis nodded, and so Raguel continued.

“There were a lot of cool concepts I saw in those comics that used mana. Eye beams, telekinesis. All of that is so easy, but at the same time, if harnessed correctly, could turn out so cool… All I need is a cape, and I can become a hero.”

Hearing that, Neraxis was left speechless.

Frankly, he knew Raguel was based off his personality, if just a little bit.

But to see him acting so childishly was a bit…

Is it my fault? It has to be… maybe not.

A moment later, their apple juice arrived.

Of course, there was a side dish too, a bacon omelet.

Rina had brought over two of those bacon omelets for them to enjoy, so they dug in right away.

And after a few minutes of eating, they were done. Or rather, Raguel was done.

Neraxis had stopped eating midway through since it just didn’t taste right.

All of a sudden, he noticed Rina leaning down beside some debris, and in the next moment, she pricked her finger on one of the sharp rocks, drawing blood.

She covered it up immediately, however…

“Oh? Right, you’re a vampire now,” Raguel remarked. “Blood is a snack for you. Or… since you don’t have any mana, it’s more like life force. So yeah, if you don’t want to prematurely die, I suggest you take a sip.”

He narrowed his eyes and subtly pointed at Rina.

“After all, we got one blood bag right beside us, don’t we?”
