Chapter 403: The Mosquito Helper
<Motherfucker…> Raguel muttered. <How long did you silence me for, huh? And for what? Just so you can play your stupid games of vengeance? Tsk… why did I get such a stupid host. Wait, am I stupid because I share a bit of your personality…? Shit…>

Neraxis didn’t bother replying as he closed his eyes, trying to get some sleep.

But before he could, that annoying, mosquito-like voice rang out inside his mind again.

<Hey. Are you trying to kill yourself or something? Is this supposed to be symbolic? Dying in your sister’s grave is, like… totally stupid. Why don’t you just jump in front of incoming traffic instead?> Raguel suggested. <Not that I’m telling you to kill yourself, I’m just saying there are better alternatives.>

Can you be quiet? Neraxis asked, exhausted. I’ve had a long few years, I’d really wish to get some sleep.

<I can read your mind, genius. I know that the moment you fall asleep, you’re not going to wake up again,> Raguel said with a sigh. <Hold on… let me try something…>

In the next moment, that annoying voice vanished, replaced by something else entirely.

A feeling of someone gripping his arm, followed by Neraxis’s body flying through the air, hitting a nearby tombstone.

He groaned in pain as another crimson eyeball appeared where his wound was.

However, after noticing that Neraxis no longer had any mana left, it vanished into nothingness.

It was so soothing not feeling that excruciating pain, but he now had to deal with another kind of pain…

“You broke my wrist,” Neraxis mumbled, waving it around.

That was when a pair of footsteps resounded ahead of him, and when Neraxis glanced up, he saw a man with long golden hair and purple eyes.

His stature was similar to Neraxis’s; he was just a bit shorter and had less muscle.

Even so, it didn’t take a genius to figure out that the person in front of Neraxis was none other than Raguel himself.

“Sup.” Raguel waved with a smirk. “I’m not attached to you anymore. How neat is that?”

“Basically, since you kind of shut down the system, I used what little remained of it to manifest myself a body. Of course, I used the mana you held inside your Void realm.”

“I don’t have a Void realm anymore,” Neraxis replied with a scoff as he slowly rose to his feet. “Plus, now I have to look at your face while you’re buzzing like a mosquito. So if you don’t have anything to do or want to explore life, go for it. You’re free, so act like you’re free.”

With that, Neraxis prepared to jump back into the grave. But as expected, Raguel grabbed him by the collar and held him in the air.

“Calm down. First things first, make a few calls. Not much time has passed since you left, believe it or not,” Raguel said plainly. “From the time you rescued Jane to the time you came out of your Void realm half an hour ago, almost 3 months have passed.”

“…?” Neraxis tilted his head. “Why is the city so dead, then? If only 3 months passed, shouldn’t it be more normal?”

“Dreamspire disappeared, the people grew slightly weaker. There is no guardian anymore either—at least, not one I can feel. So over time, this world is going to return to what it once was. Powerless, and waiting for a burst of mana to hit it,” Raguel replied with a distant look.

“Oh, and your Void realm still exists. Even if you can’t access it, it’s still there, and will forever be there,” Raguel added.

A moment of silence ensued as Neraxis took a deep breath and pushed Raguel aside.

He stood on his feet, then glanced at his right wrist that was still broken.

But still, because he was a vampire, the healing gradually kicked in. Instead of mana, it seemed to use his stamina.

So after it was done healing, he not only felt a little tired but also very hungry.

Almost like Raguel had expected something like this, he pulled out a sandwich from behind him and handed it over to Neraxis.

Neraxis stared at the sandwich for a moment, then accepted and dug in.

And after he was done, a single question arose in his mind.

“I can still feel mana off you. Why? Aren’t you tied to me?”

“I told you I’m drawing mana from your Void realm,” Raguel replied, rolling his eyes. “It’s an infinite mana source, and honestly, the only ones still connected to it are those who you turned into vampires.”

Before Neraxis could reply, Raguel continued.

“Yes, they have your former strength. They’re probably the strongest people in the universe now—or at least, not counting the administrators.”

“Then…”

Raguel nodded. “The crisis of mana being lost could be averted if you opened the Void realm’s mana reserves to everyone in this world.”

“But if everyone has infinite mana, how’s that going to work?” Neraxis asked, puzzled. “I’m sure I can set a limiter, but the Void realm is not a person. It’s a realm that I have assimilated with, so—”

“I was created to be a guide, so I can act as the guide,” Raguel stated. “But I want your permission to do so. Can I take over the Void realm and become this world’s guardian?”

“…No.”

Raguel’s eyes widened. “No? Why?”

“Whatever purpose I created you for, you have fulfilled it,” Neraxis said sternly. “I don’t want you becoming the slave of these people who jumped at the first opportunity to attack me and my family. For all I care, they can all rot and die.”

“…”

“Well, that’s one way of looking at it.” Raguel scratched his cheek. “But if that’s your decision, then can you allow me to do one thing?”

Neraxis nodded. “What is it?”

“Allow me to use the Void realm’s powers to seal away the mana in this world permanently,” Raguel said in a serious tone. “By doing so, I can assure that this world will not be found by prying eyes. At the same time, there will be no future mana rebound.”

He raised a single finger. “But if I do that, then I will have to remove the mana from every single living being on this planet…”

“So what do you say, Neraxis?”
