1007: Chapter 1007 Figured It Out 1007: Chapter 1007 Figured It Out But unfortunately, Leo wasn’t playing by Rafael’s playbook.

When he saw Hera being carefully placed on the king-size bed, he silently propped himself up, slowly swinging his legs over the side while the IV dripped from his arm and other machines beeped and whirred around him.

To anyone watching, he looked pitiful, fragile, even bullied.

Hera, still glowing from her own happiness at seeing Leo warm up to her, felt her heart ache at the sight seeing him struggling so determinedly just to sleep beside her.

Rafael, on the other hand, who had hoped for some alone time with Hera, could only gape, utterly unprepared for Leo’s silent determination.

With gritted teeth, he could see that Leo was playing the pitiful card again.

Although Hera didn’t scold him for pushing Leo this far, it was obvious she felt a pang of guilt for him.

She slowly propped herself up, and if she weren’t injured, she probably would have leapt out of bed and gone to him on her own.

“Alright, alright, my loss,” Rafael said, defeatedly, as he looked at Leo with mixed feelings.

Leo wasn’t smiling or wearing that triumphant expression, but Rafael could catch a glint in his eyes, subtle, yet unmistakable.

He almost rolled his eyes, realizing that whether Leo had amnesia or not, he would always be Hera’s most beloved.

Competing with him would be like an egg striking a rock; only Rafael would end up disappointed and hurt.

Better to focus on his own business, Rafael thought, protecting both his heart and his love.

With that resolved, he crouched down again and carefully carried Hera to Leo’s bed.

“No need to move, just sit there, maybe scoot over to the edge,” Rafael said as he approached Leo’s bed.

Seeing Rafael carrying Hera, Leo hesitated for a moment, then glanced at his own bed and nodded, sliding over to make room.

But when he looked up, he froze; not only was Hera now lying in his bed, but Rafael had also climbed in on her other side, settling himself as if he were going to stay.

“Why are you here?” Leo asked, incredulously.

“Why?

Do you really think you can sleep with my woman while I’m left alone on the other big bed?

What, are you trying to isolate me and make me feel bad?” Rafael asked, raising an eyebrow.

In truth, he was setting a trap for Leo: if Leo said no, it would imply he had no objection to Rafael sleeping beside them.

But if Leo said yes, it would make him look petty, targeting Rafael, and Hera would feel sympathy for Rafael instead, putting Leo in an awkward position.

Either way, Rafael had cleverly cornered him.

Leo pursed his lips, staring blankly at Rafael.

Who would have thought Rafael would scheme against him like this?

But since it was harmless, he didn’t mind.

Slowly, he lay down on the bed while Rafael helped Hera settle beside him.

As Rafael and Leo engaged in their silent standoff, Hera felt a flutter of nerves.

After all, this was her first time sleeping beside Leo again since his amnesia.

For some reason, it felt like the very first time all over again.

Her hands grew clammy with anxiety, and she barely registered the jabs exchanged between Rafael and Leo.

Because of her nervousness, Hera felt her stomach flutter, and she couldn’t stay still.

She secretly glanced at Leo beside her.

He lay motionless, eyes closed, face turned upward.

She could see the chiseled contours of his handsome features, his prominent nose bridge tipped slightly red, and the pallor of his skin.

Despite his sickly look, his attractiveness made her heart skip a beat.

As if sensing her gaze, Leo’s thick eyelashes fluttered, though he remained in place, slightly stiff.

The attention made him nervous, too.

Seeing Hera so focused on Leo, Rafael’s jealousy flared.

He pulled Hera close, burying his nose in the crook of her neck.

From this position, he sneakily observed Leo, who struggled to adjust due to his broken ribs; he could only lie facing upward, not to the side.

Hera was similarly constrained.

In that moment, Rafael realized he had the freedom to act as he pleased, taking advantage of their limitations.

When Leo opened his eyes and glanced beside him, he saw Rafael clinging to Hera like a koala.

Their gazes met, and Rafael smirked tauntingly before burying his nose in the crook of her neck again.

He wrapped his arms around her small waist, pulling her closer to share his warmth, because the hospital air was slightly chilly.

Carefully, he draped the blanket over her, yet didn’t forget to adjust Leo’s blanket as well, giving the appearance of thoughtfulness, but in truth, he was relishing the jealous glare Leo shot him.

After all, Leo had taunted him earlier, and Rafael considered this a harmless payback.

Content, he settled against Hera, feeling her warmth and breathing evenly.

The rhythm of his steady breath tickled her at first, then gradually lulled her into sleep.

She had been holding back her drowsiness for some time, and with the lingering effects of the medicine, she finally allowed herself to drift off.

Rafael, exhausted from the day’s events, fell asleep too, while still holding her gently.

As Hera drifted into sleep, Leo gazed at her serene, beautiful face for a quiet moment.

Slowly, his hand found hers, resting gently atop her stomach.

The position might have been awkward or uncomfortable for anyone else, given his long arms and how close they were, skin almost touching, but Leo felt none of that.

Instead, the warmth of her hand in his palm sparked a sensation like fireworks blooming in his chest.

A magical, heartwarming feeling coursed through him, filling him with warmth from head to heart, making him feel alive in a way he hadn’t expected.

Now he realized that even though his mind had forgotten the woman sleeping beside him, his heart had not.

As he got close, his heart recognized her instantly.

He truly believed that he must have loved Hera unconditionally before losing his memory.

Perhaps the reason he had forgotten her was that, even before losing consciousness, she had been the only person on his mind.

In order to protect his failing body from the overwhelming stress of thinking about her, his brain had adjusted his memory, shielding him from harm at a critical moment when he was at death’s door.

Reflecting on this, Leo finally drifted into sleep, and surprisingly, it was the deepest, most restful sleep he had experienced since opening his eyes in the hospital.

By noon, all three of them were still asleep, enjoying the rare comfort of uninterrupted rest.

Although Leo’s hospital bed was larger than typical hospital beds, it was still smaller than a king-size bed, as it needed to accommodate doctors and nurses checking on the patient.

As a result, they were all a little cramped, yet somehow comfortable.

When Zhane entered the room, he was greeted by the sight of them, still in their positions, sleeping soundly like babies, completely unaware of the door opening and closing.

Having rushed back to the hospital after hearing about the disturbance, his exhausted body threatened to give in as well.

Though the larger bed was spacious, it felt cold and lonely, and Zhane found himself looking longingly at the other bed before finally succumbing to sleep.

When Rafael, Hera, and Leo woke up, they noticed another person sleeping in the room, and only then did they realize Zhane had arrived as well.

Seeing how exhausted he looked, they tacitly remained silent, lying quietly in the hospital bed, feeling each other’s warmth and hearing each other’s steady breathing.

The silence wasn’t awkward; instead, it felt peaceful, and they stayed that way for a while.

Eventually, they noticed Zhane stirring on the other bed.

At that moment, Rafael gently propped himself up, stood, and headed to the kitchen to fetch Hera some water.

Now that Zhane was awake, someone would be there to watch over Hera while Rafael busied himself in the kitchen, gathering water and a few fruits for her to snack on.

When Zhane opened his eyes, he noticed the faint movement in the mini kitchen and, blinking against the afternoon light, he sat up on the bed, rubbing his eyes before putting on his glasses.

“How are you feeling?” he asked softly, his gaze immediately settling on Hera.

After all, he had already heard what happened and even caught glimpses of the livestream on his way here.

He wanted to know, not just if she was physically okay, but whether she was upset or angry as well.

As if sensing his worries, Hera flashed a mischievous smile.

“A few of them aren’t even enough to make me sweat.

Besides,” she added with a light chuckle, “as you can see, she didn’t even manage to hurt me.” Her expression was that of a smug cat who’d just stolen a treat.

“I’m glad to hear that,” Zhane said softly as he stood up, walked over to her bed, and sat beside her.

His hand gently stroked her long, silky hair, a quiet gesture of relief and affection.
