Lord Damon’s face scrunched up in a scowl, his frown deepening. “What kind of bullshit is that?” He shot Azrael a skeptical look.

Azrael, however, shot back with a hint of irritation, “Hey! That’s why I said I’m not sure about it. Living for thousands of years doesn’t mean I know everything, you know.”

I let out a long exhale. My gaze flickered towards Lord Damon.

‘Okay, spill the beans. What’s that? You know something, right?’ I prodded him, grateful that I hadn’t spilled all the beans, particularly about the colossal eye.

‘We’ll talk about this later. But whatever you want to say, don’t say it in front of him. There are some things that only a royal can keep,’ he conveyed, his expression remaining unreadable.

‘Okay,’ I answered.

Azrael couldn’t help but notice our exchanged glances. His eyes darted back and forth between Lord Damon and me.

“Why are you guys suddenly quiet?” he questioned. “Are you guys having an internal conversation without me?” He made a bold guess.

Lord Damon responded with a wry smile.

“We are using our brains and thinking about what it is,” he replied, his tone curt and vague.

Azrael’s narrowed gaze suggested his persistence. “So you don’t know what it is?”

With a sigh, I shook my head. “Unfortunately not,” I responded. “I also want to know what it is.”

“Right… What about you, Damian?” Azrael inquired. “Did something happen? I noticed you looked hurried when you arrived.” His eyes bore into me.

I let out an exasperated sigh. “I just want to discuss about Zatan and Beel with my Dad,” I muttered, my words accompanied by an annoyed huff. “They are as slick as eels, really annoying.”

Azrael couldn’t help but cringe. “Ah, them,” he responded, his voice colored with distaste. “I forgot you also have to deal with them.” He glanced at my father once more. “What is your plan?” Azrael probed.

“Catch them, of course,” he replied, his tone matter-of-fact. “They were already planning to overthrow me and trying to kill my son. What else is there to ask?”

Azrael, on the other hand, wasn’t about to let the conversation veer off course. He shot Lord Damon a flat, annoyed stare. “I mean about the strange power I detected,” he emphasized.

“I will do an investigation about it,” Lord Damon declared. “But since it’s near your territory, I hope you don’t mind that.”

The demon lords’ territories weren’t always clearly defined, and their boundaries often blurred, so it was important to tread carefully.

“You can also do the same investigation, or maybe we better work together on this,” Lord Damon suggested. “It’s better than our subordinates competing against each other, right?”

Azrael offered a nonchalant shrug. “You have a point there,” he admitted. “Okay, I’ll give you the details and send some people to carry out a joint investigation,” he confirmed as he rose from his chair.

I couldn’t help but be taken aback by the surprising turn of events. The exchange had gone far more smoothly than I had anticipated, and Azrael had seemingly agreed to Lord Damon’s terms without hesitation.

However, my optimism was soon shattered by what happened next.
