Chapter 651: Something Limitless
Circe stood before a door and took a deep breath before knocking. She then stepped back hastily and waited for a moment. The door did not open, but instead a tear in reality emerged and she walked through it.
Hecate, not looking towards the direction of her tear, continued reading the book in her hands as she asked. “Circe? What has brought you here? It is not like you to disturb my peace unannounced. Do you need something?”
Circe said nothing, simply walking to the side of the room and began fiddling with a tea set, indicating to her teacher to finish reading as she had something to discuss.
Hecate glanced at this and finished reading her chapter of Gyrokinetic accounts: Gravity be gone! By the time she was done, Circe had brewed the pair of them a nice cup of Stimulating tea.
“Pulling out the big guns are we? Thank you dear.” Hecate said, taking the tea and having a sip. She then placed the cup down to the side and asked. “So, what can I do for you this evening?”
Circe looked at the book cover Hecate was just reading and smiled softly at the coincidence. “I just had dinner with our newest addition to our group. Apollo.”
Hecate smirked hearing this. “Oh, did you now? Has someone finally caught that eye of yours? You couldn’t have picked a finer specimen in my opinion.” She then winked at Circe, prompting Circe to hastily correct her.
“What No! Not like that! I mean, I saw his body and it was very… Nice. But I’m not into him like that. No, Ugh! You frazzled me! I’m starting over.” Circe then took a deep breath and started again.
“I just had a friendly dinner with Apollo and I have to admit, he has left me very curious to know more about him, but I don’t want to seem weird or give off the wrong impressions. So, I have come to you to ask what you know about him.”
Circe was no fool and Hecate knew that. So she was confused as to why her student was keeping information from her? It was subtle, but she noticed. For now, Hecate decided to play along.
“Very well I will share some things that don’t break his confidence, but first I want to know how you came to have dinner with him?”
“Oh.” Circe started. “Well, I saw him in Mary’s place and he was alone. I went over to apologise for being rude to him the other day. Then as I was engaged in conversation with him, Jack, Vera and Hamish walked in.”
Hecate then rolled her eyes. The trio were talented, hence in her club, but they also were… to put it simply, Cunts.
“You know how Jack is around anyone that talks to me and I was about to shut him down when he walked over to Apollo and started talking disrespectfully, he was about to bring up Valerica when-”
“Hahahaha!” Hecate suddenly began laughing. “With how close those two are, I doubt that went well. Sorry, continue dear.”
“-Well, Jack couldn’t get anything out as Apollo shut that down With vocal amplification. It really scared me as he had shown no ability to use Psionics in his vocals. Plus I was still a bit tipsy on Psionic beer.”
Hecate muttered to herself and wrote down on a data pad. “Vocal amplification? He didn’t mention that to me… Interesting. Wait. You had a Psionic beverage? How? You don’t have permission for that. Oh did Apollo give you some of his? That man… Have you seen how much he can drink? It is scary, one sip and I am basically defenceless. Sorry Circe, continue.”
Circe shrugged her shoulders and began playing with her hair. “There isn’t much to tell after that. We sat and enjoyed a meal that Mary brought over, speaking of, the man eats like twenty. I digress. We talked about Psionics, he talked about his Sapphire and how he came up with the idea for a catalyst and talked about his Pyrokinetic abilities for a bit as well as the fact he has a teacher outside of the academy, but… I don’t know. I feel deep in my existence there is something about that man. Like he holds a secret that could… I don’t know-
“-Trivialise your advancement?” Hecate said, causing Circe to look at her in shock at taking the words out of her mouth.
Hecate then floated out of her chair and went to put her book away while asking Circe. “What does every one of you that I have invited into my group have in common Circe?”
Circe replied immediately. “We all possess a unique gift and or an incredibly potent Psionic potential for our age.”
Hecate nodded. “Good, now would it surprise you if I was to say I would discard all of you to the side, as unique and talented as you all are if Apollo only wanted me to teach him and him alone?”
Circe wanted to speak up about suddenly feeling betrayed by those words, she saw Hecate as a… But honestly she agreed. Hecate noticed the look on Circe’s face and smiled.
“See, talented beyond reason. You have noticed something about Apollo that I also have. There is something about him I haven’t told you yet. He at only eighteen, has awakened more than four times. I didn’t have my third till I was in my seventies. Something about him… There’s something-”
“-Limitless.” Circe finished Hecate’s sentence as she began to ponder what She had just learnt. Awakening twice as a youth is rare, but not unheard of, she herself has already awakened twice, but after that… You have to be a prodigy among prodigies… So to awaken over four times… She was right, there was something special about that man. He was like a puzzle and she wanted to know more about him…
Hecate then returned to her seat with another book and put it to the side before taking her tea. “I invited Apollo to be a part of us as I believe by connecting myself to him in some way, I can figure out how to advance by leaps and bounds. I think he is oblivious to this effect he has, he is too humble for someone with that level of capability after all. My advice to you? No schemes. No ploys. No plots. Nothing nefarious. If you want to learn more about him. Continue what you have already done this evening. Talk to him. Become his friend or ally. He has a very tight circle, try and join it, but don’t breach it, and who knows what might happen?”
Circe took everything Hecate just said to heart. That didn’t sound difficult to do, in fact the thought excited her. She enjoyed her time with Apollo this evening. It was a fresh change of pace talking to someone without other motives on their mind. With that in mind and with the safety of her future friend on the line, she asked her teacher.
“So, what are your intentions for Apollo then?”
Hecate simply smiled. “Simple. Be there for him as a teacher and do my best not to diddle him. Honestly Circe, I know you have no interest in that regard of your existence right now, but be warned. His mind is beautiful. He is a genius despite his more dense aspects, as you will come to learn.”
Circe opened her mouth in confusion and was about to ask Hecate to clarify what she meant, but her teacher then continued to say something interesting.
“Plus, as strange as it sounds, even the thought of trying anything nefarious towards him gives me a bad feeling. And not just because of the information I know about him… As he currently is, sure he is no match for me, but there is something in the undercurrents that even just saying that makes me know it’s a horrid idea. So yes. Kindness is the way forward. Remember that going forward. Now, as much as I enjoy talking about Apollo, I must focus.
Hecate then looked at the table in front of her and focused on a paperweight and the thing began to wobblily elevate upwards “Gyrokinesis is a very complex Psionics that requires more concern for material laws and I can barely lift this basically weightless thing with this untrained Psionic power right now. I need to focus and understand it better if I am to help him.”
…
I didn’t stay with the Pyromaniacs for too long. While they were all very kind and expressed clearly that I was always welcome there, I had something that I needed to take care of. Arriving back home, I opened the door and the moment I did I was hit by a tornado forcing me to the ground.
I then stroked the tornados purple hair as it yelled concerned and full of love.
“Where have you been? Orchid missed you! The green one said you got taken away by a head teacher. Are you ok? Does Orchid need to kill them?”
