Chapter 473: Unbelievable Bad News
Inside his office, Glarvic stood before a large window overlooking the outside.

Snow fell heavily, limiting his view to barely five meters. It was an everyday sight, yet today it filled him with unease, clouding his thoughts.

“It’s been over two hours, but the Tower Master, Miss Jisha, and Olivia still haven’t returned to the palace. Could something have happened?” Glarvic muttered, biting his lower lip.

The Tower Master was powerful. An accident should have been impossible. Of that, he was certain.

Even so, the unsettling feeling refused to fade, tightening its grip on him.

Suddenly, a knock sounded at the door, followed by the panicked voice of a servant from outside.

“Your Majesty, forgive the disturbance! Miss Jisha and Princess Olivia have returned!”

***

Glarvic and Leina rushed toward the parlor. Jisha and Olivia were seated there, both looking pale.

“Olivia, Miss Jisha!” Glarvic called out, his voice filled with panic.

They looked up, and relief washed over their faces when they saw him. Olivia, in particular, rose quickly and threw her arms around her father.

“Father…” she said hoarsely.

Glarvic hugged her back and gently patted her back, as if to soothe her.

He didn’t ask any questions at once, allowing his daughter time to calm down.

After a minute, Olivia finally regained her composure and relaxed.

She slowly loosened her embrace and looked up at him with her dark eyes.

Glarvic froze in surprise. “Your blindfold…”

Before he could finish, Olivia smiled and said, “I can control my eyes’ power a little now, so I don’t need it anymore.”

Glarvic was overjoyed and burst into laughter.

“Hahaha! That’s incredible! This must be thanks to the Tower Master’s teachings!”

How many years had it been since he last saw his daughter without her blindfold?

Twelve? Thirteen? Or perhaps even seventeen years?

He couldn’t quite remember. All he knew was that it had been a very long time.

Unexpectedly, after only a few days of training with the Tower Master, his beloved child had already managed to control the power of the Arcanum Eyes.

It was an achievement worth celebrating.

Beside him, Leina was happy as well. With Olivia gaining control over her power, the Kingdom of Kaldarion would grow even stronger in the future.

However, she soon sensed something was wrong. Neither Olivia nor Jisha looked happy.

Their faces were gloomy, filled with sadness and heaviness, as if something terrible had happened.

Only then did she notice that the Tower Master was nowhere to be seen.

“Um… Princess, Miss Jisha… Where is the Tower Master?” Leina asked cautiously.

Glarvic realized it as well. He looked around, but the woman was nowhere in sight.

He turned to Olivia and Jisha, and a bad feeling slowly crept into his chest.

His breath caught as he asked in a trembling voice, “Don’t tell me she…”

Jisha cut him off at once. “Yes. My master has been… defeated. It’s even possible that her fate is unknown—whether she’s still alive or not.”

Her voice was heavy and subdued. She wasn’t crying and forced herself to stay strong because she believed her master was not a fool.

If she had felt unable to defeat the white dragon, her master would have chosen to retreat.

Even so, Jisha couldn’t forget her master’s stubborn nature.

The monster had reached the catastrophe level, and no one knew whether it would attack the capital in the near future.

It was not impossible that her master had sacrificed herself to protect the people of this kingdom—at least, that was the worst-case possibility.

Upon hearing her words, Glarvic froze. His eyes widened as his heart began to pound wildly.

“The Tower Master has been… defeated? How… how is that possible?”

His breathing grew ragged, and dizziness washed over him, as if he were being forced to accept an impossible reality.

Olivia panicked and hurried to support him. Leina stepped in as well, the same concern etched across her face.

“This is impossible… It’s impossible for the Tower Master to lose!” Glarvic shook his head, refusing to accept the truth.

Yet his reason quickly caught up with him.

It was unlikely that Jisha would lie—especially about the fate of her own master.

After calming himself somewhat, Glarvic drew a deep breath and asked weakly, “What exactly happened? Can you explain it to me?”

Olivia and Jisha nodded in unison. Then, they began recounting what had happened earlier.

Fifteen minutes later…

“So the White Dragon has become a catastrophe-level monster?” Glarvic gasped, a crushing weight pressing down on his chest.

Catastrophe-level monsters were the worst nightmare of all living beings in this world.

There were few records of their appearances, but two recent cases stood out—the emergence of two catastrophe-level monsters within the Great Velmora Empire.

The first occurred in the western region of the empire, within the territory of the Duke of Valcrest.

It was said that the number of victims reached hundreds of thousands—perhaps even more.

The second took place during the announcement of the empire succession, when a catastrophe-level dragon nearly destroyed the capital city of Solvaria.

If not for the intervention of the Singularity of Chaos in both incidents, the Great Velmora Empire would have been reduced to a mere footnote in history.

But now, a catastrophe-level monster similar to those disasters had appeared within his own kingdom. The thought alone drained the color from Glarvic’s face.

Leina, standing beside him, was no less shaken.

Seeing their reactions, Jisha smiled wryly. She realized that there was little Glarvic could do.

It was only a matter of time before the Kingdom of Kaldarion was reduced to dust.

“What about the Tower Master’s situation?” Glarvic asked in a heavy voice.

Jisha lowered her gaze and shook her head.

“I don’t know, Your Majesty. She should be able to escape… but I can’t be sure whether she will.”

That answer silenced Glarvic at once. His expression turned blank, and his body felt weak.

Once again, Leina and Olivia had to support him to keep him standing.

Suddenly, Olivia remembered something and said eagerly, “Father, let’s ask Prince Nolan for help. There’s still time before it’s too late!”

Hope and urgency shone on her face.

However, Glarvic shook his head firmly.

“No, that’s impossible! How could I ask him for help? They are wolves who would devour our kingdom!”

Olivia pursed her lips, but she did not back down.

“Then do you want to see the people continue to suffer like this? Don’t you understand the threat of the white dragon? Even my master cannot defeat it, let alone your army. How long will you keep being so stubborn?”

Her voice rose, sharp with anger.

Glarvic and Leina were stunned, unprepared for such harsh words.

Noticing their shock, Olivia showed no fear.

She took a step back and said, “Father, I am your daughter, and I am already an adult. I understand the problems facing this kingdom. Please, be more rational. You don’t want us all to be slaughtered by that monster, do you?”

This time, Glarvic did not answer at once. He lowered his head, biting his lower lip, as if sinking into confusion and despair.
