Chapter 459: The Cunning Plan of Singularity of Light (2)
“What’s going on? Why are you calling me? Has something happened there?” Nolan asked calmly.
A cold wind blew past, causing his hair to sway gently.
“I want to talk about something important,” Malverna replied hesitantly. “And it has to do with my disciple.”
“Your disciple? Is it the Demon Emperor Zerathos? Has he been resurrected?”
Malverna was startled and asked in disbelief, “How did you know?”
Standing atop a high hill, Malverna wore a confused expression.
She was certain she had never told Nolan about this, yet somehow, he already knew.
“Pfft! I’ve known about it for a long time,” Nolan replied calmly. He rubbed his chin and paused for a moment before explaining, “Do you remember the previous courtroom? Back then, I sensed a powerful demonic energy coming from Cassian. At first, I thought I was mistaken, but after contacting Cassian again a few days later, I realized the truth. Cassian was the incarnation of the Demon Emperor Zerathos, your disciple.”
Before him, nothing could be hidden—not even Zerathos’s presence within Cassian.
“If you already knew, why didn’t you expose him? Wouldn’t that have benefited your sister in the battle for the throne?” Malverna asked hesitantly.
In her mind, Nolan would do anything for his sister, Elina.
The chance to gain prestige by exposing Zerathos’s existence was right in front of him, and it would have greatly benefited Elina.
Nolan simply smiled and did not answer immediately. He stepped forward, and at that moment, snow falling from the sky landed on his head.
Such cold weather would make ordinary people shiver or even suffer from hypothermia.
However, Nolan felt nothing at all. To him, heat and cold made no difference.
While walking down the quiet, foggy road, he explained, “Although I support Elina in the battle for the throne, that doesn’t mean I will do anything to ensure her victory. How long have you been with me? Why haven’t you realized that yet?”
He rolled his eyes in annoyance. If one counted the time, it had been almost four to six months since Malverna made a contract with him.
Yet the big-breasted woman still did not understand his character.
Malverna felt ashamed after hearing his words. She always saw how kind and gentle Nolan was toward Elina, causing her to forget something so important.
When Malverna was about to speak, Nolan cut her off.
“Besides, you should remember that I promised to help you fulfill your desire to kill the Demon Emperor Zerathos, right? If I reveal his whereabouts to my father, your disciple will surely escape and move to another incarnation. Once that happens, it will be extremely difficult to track him accurately.”
A promise was a promise—this was Nolan’s principle. He could have killed Zerathos directly.
However, doing so would have been pointless. The Demon Emperor Zerathos was indeed powerful and had once nearly flattened the continent with his demon army.
Unfortunately, that was only in the past, back when the Seven Singularities did not yet exist.
In this era of unprecedented peace, the reappearance of the Demon Emperor Zerathos would not cause changes as drastic as those of a thousand years ago.
Even Nolan himself was not certain that the demon could gather an army in the near future, let alone destroy the continent.
After all, the Demon Empire had collapsed, and the demons of the present era were no longer as powerful as they had been a thousand years ago.
“Alright, let’s get straight to the point. What exactly happened after the Demon Emperor’s resurrection? Was the party ruined?” Nolan asked indifferently.
Malverna sighed deeply. “More than just ruined. It was a complete disaster…”
“Hm?” Nolan narrowed his eyes and listened carefully to her explanation.
After fifteen minutes, he finally understood everything and smiled cynically.
“This is clearly the agenda of the Light Singularity,” Nolan said coldly.
“The Singularity of Light’s agenda?” Malverna looked surprised.
Nolan exhaled slowly, white smoke escaping his lips.
“Do you think the Singularity of Light is unaware of the Demon Emperor Zerathos? No. He is fully aware of his existence. According to your story, he looked at Cassian during the party, right?”
“Yeah. I saw him glance at Cassian, but only briefly,” Malverna admitted.
Nolan slipped his left hand into his trouser pocket and spoke mockingly. “At that moment, he wasn’t looking at Cassian—he was watching the Demon Emperor Zerathos. In front of everyone, he even claimed the tampered recording stone was genuine, just to put pressure on Elina.”
The recording stone itself had been his idea.
He had taken inspiration from a recording device in his previous world—a small box capable of capturing crystal-clear video.
However, lacking proper blueprints, he replaced modern technology with magic circles instead.
All of the magic circles were intricately woven and immensely powerful, making them nearly impossible to destroy except by someone extraordinarily strong.
Since the Demon Emperor Zerathos was a master of magic, it was no surprise that he found a loophole in the recording stone’s magic circle used by Cassian and altered its contents to frame Elina.
However, no matter how powerful Zerathos was, he would have left traces of demonic power on any magical object he touched.
Yet, as one of the Seven Singularities, the old man pretended not to notice and instead supported Cassian in front of everyone.
His goal was simple—to make Elina the scapegoat.
Fortunately, Malverna intervened and changed the situation.
Nolan was grateful to her and intended to reward her later.
“So that’s how it is. I understand,” Malverna said. “Come to think of it, the Singularity of Light’s behavior was indeed strange. He killed Cassian in front of everyone, yet actually let him go. That might have fooled everyone, including your father, but it didn’t escape my gaze.”
Nolan faintly smiled. The Singularity of Light was a cunning old man, so it didn’t surprise him.
“By the way, there’s something I’m curious about,” Nolan said. “Given your hatred for the Demon Emperor Zerathos, why didn’t you kill him on the spot?”
He understood how deep Malverna’s hatred for her former student ran.
It felt like watching one’s parents die before their eyes because of someone else’s actions.
Therefore, Nolan was quite surprised to learn that Malverna had not launched even a single attack on the Demon Emperor Zerathos.
Malverna paused for a moment, took a deep breath, and replied calmly, “It’s not that I don’t want to. I just thought it was best not to act rashly. After all, I don’t know whether Zerathos has a way to escape and hide within his other incarnations. I still remember your words—never act rashly.”
Hearing this, Nolan was briefly taken aback before smiling.
“You’ve grown stronger, Malverna. As your master, I’m very proud.”
Malverna felt both embarrassed and annoyed by his words. Despite having been Nolan’s slave for over four months, admitting it was still humiliating.
“I will cut off our communication. Be careful—Zerathos will definitely come looking for you. After all, everything that happened is indirectly related to your sister, Elina.”
With that, their communication ended. Nolan merely smiled and shook his head.
“If he dares to come, it will be the end for him…”
