- Chapter 392 - 392 Fishing
392: Fishing 392: Fishing “Have you prepared the fishing rods?” Nolan asked.
Sharon nodded enthusiastically.
“Yes, I’ve got them ready!” She opened her right palm, and two fishing rods appeared out of thin air.
Handing one to Nolan, she held the other herself.
“Great!” Nolan smiled faintly.
“Let’s head to a good spot.
If I’m not mistaken, there’s an excellent fishing area at the bottom of the ship.” Sharon followed his lead.
Soon, they descended to the lower deck.
Sailing could be boring, so Jack and his friends often went fishing to pass the time.
At the bottom of the ship was a special area designated for fishing, which happened to be free that day.
Nolan asked for permission to use it.
Jack had no objections and even offered to accompany them.
The loot from the ghost ship had made him and his crew incredibly wealthy.
They had acquired chests filled with gold and top-quality weapons-swords, spears, and other arms.
All their treasures combined were worth tens of millions of Sharn.
Since he and his comrades received forty percent, that meant they could still pocket several million Sharn each.
For them, it was an unimaginable sum-they had never held so much money in their lives.
Thanks to Nolan’s generosity, they were finally able to live out a small part of their dreams.
However, Nolan declined Jack’s offer.
He and his sister were fishing purely for fun, not for anything serious.
Even so, Jack had prepared the spot meticulously.
When Nolan and Sharon arrived, they were impressed by how clean and comfortable everything was.
“Pfft!
Jack really respects you.
And it’s not just him-the entire crew looks at you with such high regard.
Even toward me, Cassiopeia, or Draco, it’s not like that,” Sharon said with a giggle.
Nolan smiled.
“Isn’t that natural?
People respect those who give them something valuable.
It’s the law of nature.” He was completely indifferent about the forty percent share from the ghost ship’s loot.
It was just pocket change.
He could have handed everything to Jack and his friends, but that would have raised unnecessary suspicion.
Both Cassiopeia and Draco knew well enough that he was a poor prince.
If he gave away all the treasure, they would surely wonder where his confidence came from and start investigating.
Though Nolan could have easily dodged their questions, it was safer to avoid them altogether.
“You’re right,” Sharon said, nodding in agreement.
The two then began preparing their fishing equipment.
This was the first time either of them had ever fished.
Sharon, especially, had no idea what to do.
She watched Nolan bait his hook and copied his actions.
When he cast his line into the sea, she did the same.
“I saw earlier that you’re really skilled, Nolan.
Have you fished before?” Sharon asked, gripping her rod with both hands.
Nolan leaned back in his chair and joked, “I’ve never fished for fish.
But when it comes to fishing for other people’s anger and rage, I do that all the time.” Sharon: “…” She hadn’t expected her brother to crack a joke like that.
The two continued chatting as they waited for a fish to bite.
The calm, peaceful atmosphere, accompanied by the refreshing sea breeze, slowly eased their boredom and restlessness.
“By the way, I just remembered something, Nolan.
One of my friends at the academy has a crush on you,” Sharon said with a mischievous smile.
“Oh?” Nolan looked slightly surprised.
“How is that possible?
I’ve never even left the Empire.
Is your friend from the Great Velmora Empire?” “No.” Sharon shook her head.
“She’s from the Eastern Empire of Izanagi.
She’s the eldest daughter of the Ashikaga noble family and has magical talents just as strong as mine.
I often talk about you to her, so she’s very interested.
I even told her that your mother is from the Eastern Empire, which makes you two a perfect match.” A sly smile spread across Sharon’s lips as she added, “When I gave her your photo, she immediately fell in love and asked me to introduce you.
Since then, she keeps asking for more photos of you, which sometimes gives me a headache.” Sharon pressed her temples, pretending to be troubled.
Nolan was speechless.
He never expected something like that.
Yet the name of his sister’s friend’s family caught his attention.
The Ashikaga family, huh?
Isn’t that a first-class noble family in the Eastern Izanagi Empire?
he wondered.
Like the Great Velmora Empire, the Eastern Empire of Izanagi had its own noble hierarchy.
While his empire had dukes, marquises, and so on, the Eastern Empire used a system of first- to third-rank families.
The top rank was held by three famous families-the Ashikaga, Inuzuka, and Takeda.
These were comparable to the four Duke families of the Great Velmora Empire.
The second and third ranks were made up of families with slightly lower status, though they still wielded considerable influence and power.
Just then, Sharon’s fishing rod began to jerk violently.
She yanked it up, but the fish on the line was incredibly strong.
“Need my help?” Nolan asked as he stood.
“No need.” Sharon shook her head.
“Watch your sister in action!” She planted her feet firmly, braced herself, and pulled with all her strength.
Splash!
A fish nearly one and a half meters long leapt out of the water, and Sharon quickly cast a spell to bind it.
Then she pulled the fish toward them.
“Woah!
What a huge fish!
I really hit the jackpot!” Sharon exclaimed, marveling at her catch.
The silver fish shimmered with faint blue scales, and its size made it clear it would be delicious on the table.
“Tsk!
You caught a very rare blue-scaled silver fish.
Sister, you’re lucky!” Nolan praised.
Blue-scaled silver fish were indeed rare, and Nolan knew the species immediately thanks to what Jack had told him.
Sharon couldn’t hide her smug smile.
She lightly patted her big chest and said, “Of course!
Your sister is really amazing.” Nolan chuckled at her pride, not the slightest bit annoyed.
That was just his sister’s nature.
Suddenly, Nolan’s fishing rod jerked violently.
“Nolan!
A fish took your bait!
Pull it up quickly!” Nolan gave a slight nod and strained with all his strength.
To his surprise, the fish was so powerful that Nolan was completely overpowered.
Sharon had no choice but to jump in and help.
Together, they heaved with all their strength, and finally, the creature on the line was dragged onto the deck.
But when they saw it, both froze in shock.
“This…” Sharon’s eyes went wide.
“An octopus?”
