The Grand Duke's Son Is A Heretic - Chapter 457
Chapter 457: 457
“Woah… Now this is marvelous!” Kael muttered as he gasped at the huge sight before him. His eyes widened and he took a slow step forward, almost breathless from what he saw.
It was a massive underground space that stretched farther than the eye could follow. The walls rose like ancient cliffs carved by giants, and the faint glow of runic light filled every corner. An endless number of arrays and magic circles pulsed across the stone floor and walls, weaving together like veins of light running through a colossal body. The entire place hummed softly, as if it was alive.
The structure itself resembled an ancient monolith. It had sharp gothic arches that curved up like claws reaching toward an unseen sky.
Pillars stood tall and thin, carved with old symbols that looked older than any kingdom. Dust floated lazily in the air yet the arrays burned brightly as if maintained by something unseen. In the center of the hall, the ground sank slightly, forming a wide circular platform. On it were several lotus-shaped stone pods, arranged neatly like the seats of an old sacred ritual.
Kael stared at them in amazement. “Now what is this place?” he asked while looking around, still unable to hide the thrill inside him.
Ramos walked beside him with his hands behind his back. “It is the place of enlightenment.”
Kael and Ramos paused suddenly when they heard footsteps coming from behind them. They turned around and saw three figures walking toward them through the glowing light.
It was Martina and Roosevelt, led by Pleard. The three approached calmly, their steps echoing across the quiet stone hall.
Seeing Kael still frozen in place, Martina let out a light smile. “What? Aren’t you gonna greet your fiancée?”
“Also the future Emperor,” Roosevelt added smugly as he lifted his chin.
Kael slowly turned his head toward Roosevelt and glared at him. “Do you think I give a damn about you?”
Roosevelt blinked. “…”
Kael raised both hands. “Hahaha. It is a joke. Come on.”
He walked forward and extended his hand toward Roosevelt. “Congratulations.”
Roosevelt reached out and received the handshake a bit awkwardly. Kael then turned toward Martina and looked at her with a sharp gaze that seemed to pierce through her calm look.
“I know it is an act but what if I tell you I don’t have a habit of letting things go.”
Martina’s eyes widened for a second. A faint surprise crossed her face before she let out a small chuckle. “Better than marrying a random guy. I would gladly choose you.”
“What if I have several others?”
“This…” Roosevelt suddenly jumped forward and grabbed him by the collar.
“What? Are you already setting your sights on other girls? How dare you?”
Even Ramos and Pleard’s expressions hardened for a moment. Pleard turned toward Ramos with cold eyes.
Ramos shouted instantly. “Hey, why the hell are you looking at me?”
Kael raised his hand and pulled Roosevelt off him. “Calm down. I don’t have anyone else now but what about the future.”
“No. You are forbidden from engaging with any other girl beside my sister.”
‘Forbade? Why don’t you say that when you meet my wives..Then I will see if you have guts.’
“Cough…”
Pleard cleared his throat loudly. “Guys… Let us stop and finish things.”
Hearing this, Ramos stepped back and folded his arms while Pleard walked to the side of the platform and lifted his hand.
“This place… In this very place a being ascended to Godhood.”
“Godhood? Who?” Kael, Martina and Roosevelt asked at the same time.
“We don’t know,” Pleard answered. His tone became serious. “But this place will be very fruitful if you manage to tap into it.”
Kael’s expression fell a bit. His shoulders loosened and he looked at the glowing ground with a sigh.
‘It is good but not that super duper helpful. Still… It is better to give it a try and see…’
Martina walked closer to the lotus pods. “So how do we do this?”
“Just go and take your seat on the lotus pod and concentrate,” Pleard explained. “If you are lucky you can see a vision and if not… That is fate.”
“The vision will boost your soul power and if you are lucky, you three might breakthrough to the SS rank as the enlightenment will clear the blocked path ahead.”
The three of them exchanged a small nod. With slow steps, they walked toward the platform and climbed onto the lotus pods.
Ramos leaned toward Pleard and whispered quietly. “What do you think? Will they spot anything? I mean it is quite useless as I couldn’t see anything..It should be the same for them, isn’t it?”
Pleard’s lips twitched. He turned his head toward Ramos and spoke sharply. “Not everyone is an idiot like you.”
“Idiot? Did you call me an idiot? Did you forget the piledriver I gave you and knocked you out?”
“What piledriver? You bastard cheated.”
“Ohhh… Now look at this. Using dirty foul words when the Emperor is not here.”
“You…”
Both men stepped closer as if they were about to lunge at each other. Their faces tightened and their fists curled.
Then suddenly a blast of energy erupted across the hall. A cold wind rushed through the room and froze the two of them in place. Their spines stiffened and their bodies trembled as if someone pressed a blade against their necks.
They slowly turned around.
A faint figure had materialized behind Kael. It stood tall and silent, and its body made of shimmering light and shadow. Its gaze fell on Ramos and Pleard with a cold look that sank straight into their bones.
The voice that echoed inside their minds was cold, emotionless and heavy like a command.
[Go and make noise, and you will witness the destruction beyond your wildest dreams.]
Gulp.
Both Ramos and Pleard felt their throats tighten. Sweat formed instantly at their brows.
Now what is this shit!
The entire hall fell silent again. Even the glowing arrays seemed to dim for a moment as if the presence had pressed its will across the whole place.
Ramos slowly stepped back, his legs shaking slightly. Pleard clenched his fists but still lowered his gaze because the warning was not something he could ignore.
