Chapter 455: 455
“Who is the one in charge here?” Kael asked.

“One of Five Constellations was here who oversaw things, but after this event she left, leaving everything to me to avoid further scrutiny because Emperor Edward might make a move and it’s gonna be very ruthless.”

“That’s good..”Kael nodded.

Her prediction turned out to be painfully true.

……..

And just as Mariana expected, the entire Capital was swept by bloodshed.

Iron Hawks, the specialized task forces under the Emperor responsible for dealing with such people, were ordered to cleanse each and every corner of the Capital and surrounding areas.

They moved without hesitation. It’s like hounds that had been kept on leash had been released.

Countless hidden group bases and hideouts were destroyed overnight. Without Rein’s protection to shield them, they were exposed far earlier than planned.

Thankfully Kael took precautions early and began to shift the base before the hounds could sniff around. Because of that, the Heretic survivors avoided annihilation.

He wanted to meet the Saintess, but with everything happening so fast, he postponed it.

Shockingly, the base was directly below the Church of Darkness that had been abandoned for years. It had around ninety members of C ranks, led by two B ranks. Kael asked them to leave immediately.

He already arranged a place at a nearby city by buying land and building a safe haven. He personally showed up at the checkpost to make sure nothing went wrong.

Thankfully the Iron Hawk did not make it difficult for him.

After all they had seen him fighting evil group members, and by now everyone in the Empire knew one thing clearly.

Kael Veydrin was the most hated and most wanted guy by the three evil groups.

If there had been a person who was hated by all evil groups, leaving aside the Abyssal group, then it was none other than Kael Veydrin.

Because of this strange reputation, the people who hated evil groups started seeing him as an idol. To the point some members of Iron Hawk even asked for his signature.

Kael almost fainted from pure disbelief.

“Damn….This is getting too much!” Kael cracked his head, feeling flustered by the sudden turn of events.

Vic nodded with arms folded, his face serious. “Yeah. These shit heads have few screws loose to worship someone like you as an idol.”

“…” Kael slowly turned his head toward Vic.

“Did you want me to crack your head?” Kael asked coldly. The air turned tense, sending a chill straight down Vic’s spine.

Vic froze. “I… I was just saying,” he muttered.

“Saying…Then let me see you saying that again after I crack your head.”

Chris stepped in with a calm face. “Sir, cracking Vic head won’t do anything. You should tighten the screws of those fellows from Iron Hawk.”

Kael paused and rubbed his chin. “Yeah. That’s a good suggestion.”

Gare glared at Chris as if telling him to stop giving Kael unnecessary ideas.

With that, Kael entered the living room.

He felt a strange déjà vu as everyone in the room slowly turned toward him at the same time. Their gazes locked onto him with such intensity that even he felt uncomfortable.

Emilia, Alina, Seraphina, Ariana, and Lyria stared at him with ominous expressions. Their faces were calm, but the atmosphere behind them felt like a storm waiting to explode.

Kael blinked and raised his hands slightly. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

A deep silence followed for a brief moment.

Lyria was the one who broke it. She stepped forward with a perfectly calm expression and bowed her head slightly.

“Congratulations My Lord!”

Kael stiffened, already sensing something terrible.

“You are engaged once again!”

“WHaaattt!” Kael shouted. His voice echoed through the entire building as he jumped up from shock, almost tripping over the table beside him.

His face paled. The girls all let out different reactions, some sighing, some shaking their heads, some hiding faint smiles.

Kael grabbed his hair with both hands. “What the hell do you mean engaged again!”

But Lyria only tilted her head and repeated calmly, “Congratulations My Lord.”

“Now what is this bullshit!”

“It’s not bullshit!”

Kael and the others turned sharply toward the voice. The moment they saw the figure standing there, they felt their souls leave their bodies.

“What the fuck?”

“Gyyyaaayy!”

They all jumped back in fright. Standing in the dark hallway was a hollow, wrinkled-faced human who looked like nothing but a sack of brittle bones.

“Where did this ghost come from?” Vic shouted as he shoved Chris forward. “Chris, go and swat it.”

Chris stumbled and yelled, “Why me…” He tried to turn and run, but Kael smacked all of them on the head.

“Can you stop giving me a scare… It’s not a ghost. It’s the old man.”

Kael looked ahead and snapped, “Old coot. Can you stop doing those things at such an old age? Just look how much you lost.”

“It’s the age you should go to bed early yet you are dragging others to end..Such a shame.”Kael shook his head and covered his face in embarrassment.

“Fuckkk offf!” Ramos shouted, his face turning red. He jumped forward to grab Kael’s neck, but a crack echoed as soon as he moved.

“…”

SWISH!

Following the rustle of air, a scream exploded through the hall.

“AHhhhhhhhh! mmmmy spine…”

… … …

Later, Ramos sat on the bed while two maids pressed ice packs on his back. His blissful expression made Kael feel disgusted.

“Stop…You two can leave.”

“No…It still feels sore..Massage me more.”Ramos pleaded but Kael looked at the maids coldly.

“Haven’t you heard?I am the new Grand Duke.*

The maids bowed and exited, leaving Kael alone with Ramos.

“Damn….You!”

“Shut up and tell me…”

“Tell what’s all this about…” Kael asked.

Ramos glared at him and spoke slowly. “You are engaged with Princess Cassandra Luther… whom you know as Martina.”

“Why this engagement all of a sudden!” Kael’s brows furrowed instantly.

“Chill…It’s not that serious.”
