Chapter 445: 445
A slash of water shot out so fast that the space around it wavered. The attack stretched far across the battlefield like a narrow blue line that was sharp enough to slice the world open. The sound of it cutting through the air resembled ripping steel.

Two devastating forces rushed toward the Archangel of War. The golden force from Edward and the slicing water arc from Ramos pushed against each other for a moment and then fused, amplifying the destruction even more as they charged toward her.

The Archangel of War flapped her wings in panic. She launched herself upward and the gust of wind that followed knocked chunks of earth loose. Her eyes widened and she quickly summoned her own power. A bright crimson light formed around her hands as she raised them.

She screamed.

“Divine Punishment!”

A barrage of red beams shot down toward the two men like meteors trying to stop the attacks. However before her attack could even land, a giant beam of energy shot out from below and struck her in the chest.

“NOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

BOOOOOOOOOOOM!

The blast swallowed her whole and the sky erupted in light. A dense pillar of energy blasted upward and pierced the clouds. Then, high in the sky, it exploded.

The explosion spread in a massive ring, sending shockwaves in all directions. The clouds twisted violently and the heavens shook. The blast lit up the entire sky like a second sun. The ground rumbled and even distant mountains cracked from the pressure. Loose stones jumped into the air as the shockwave continued to roll outward in layers.

Seeing the whole sky brighten like a grand firework, Kael slowly lowered his hand from his eyes and snorted lightly.

“Woah. The familiar sight of godly fireworks. It never ceased to amaze me.”

Edward, still breathing heavily, glared at him.

Kael tilted his head slightly.”Calm down.”

Kael raised his hand casually and tossed something toward them. A corpse..no a figure who had been twisted beyond one could think of hit the ground with a dull thud.

“He is alive.”

“An inquisitor,” Ramos murmured as he frowned. He crouched down slightly to look more closely.

Kael shrugged as he watched their reactions.

“These folks knew what was going to happen but they still did nothing to stop it. The more chaos the world suffers, the more people will follow God.”

“That’s the truth.”

Edward looked at the figure while tightening his grip on his spearless hand.

Kael lifted his chin and spoke in a calm voice.

“You want to know who I am? Then I am someone who opposes both the God and the Outer God. In the end, I want to bring an end to the reign of those lofty bastards who manipulated us humans.”

Ramos narrowed his eyes and raised his sword again.”I beg to differ.*

“You seem to be more dangerous.”

Ramos muttered this under his breath. His grip tightened on his sword, and all of a sudden he slashed toward Kael without any hesitation.

‘Fuck!’

Kael controlled his urge to curse.

Kael exhaled softly as if he had expected that exact response. When Ramos suddenly struck, Kael reacted instantly. His sword moved in a clean arc and their blades clashed. Sparks shot out from the collision.

The force shook the air around them. For a moment their swords pressed against each other and then the pressure broke apart in a burst of wind.

‘Damnmm… Of all the people, why did you have to take the first step.. If it was someone else I would have surely flipped the shit out of him.’

Ramos attacked again. He moved fast and cut through the image of the masked figure in front of him. The figure split cleanly in half.

However, what Ramos cut was only an afterimage.

Kael’s voice echoed behind him. “Can you stop this old man?”

“Of course not..” Ramos snorted. He did not turn around. His eyes narrowed sharply.

“There is no proof that you are him..”

“The Lord of Chaos….. Whoever you are, you are now at the weakest phase of your life so I can’t let this opportunity go.”

Ramos raised his sword again to strike. His arm tensed and he stepped forward. But before he could bring the blade down, something warm spread across his chest.

“Spurt!”

His eyes widened. He froze. He slowly looked down and saw a long, clean cut across his chest. Blood dripped along the blade line.

“Step back..”

A deadly chill ran down Ramos’s spine. Kael’s cold voice came from behind him, sharp enough to make the air feel heavier.

“I swear that if you take another step, I will cut you apart into a thousand pieces.”

Ramos did not move. He felt the threat like a blade against his throat.

Kael continued, his voice calm but filled with something deeper. “Remember… I was and will never be your enemy.. My only enemy is God.. Both of this world and outer..”

As he said this, Kael’s body flickered like smoke being blown apart. His figure wavered and faded.

Ramos blinked and swallowed. Just as he wondered where Kael had gone, he noticed something behind him. He turned his head slowly and saw the remains of the Archangel’s body disappearing into nothing at a steady pace.

Kael’s voice echoed faintly. “Let me take this as it’s quite useful for me..”

“It’s a pleasure doing business with you. We will meet next time. Bye!”

Before either of them could blink, Kael’s figure vanished completely. There was no trail left behind. Not even a ripple in the air.

No sound echoed. Only empty space remained where he had been standing.

The battlefield stretched across the land in devastation. The ground was torn open in deep scars. Smoke curled from broken rocks. The air trembled softly from the leftover energy.

It looked like a place where gods had fought. No one spoke. Silence hung for a long moment.

Edward looked around weakly. His breath shook and he finally could not hold it in. He started coughing hard.

“COUGH!”

“DAMN!” Ramos cursed. He rushed toward Edward as he collapsed, coughing blood, and grabbed him before he hit the ground.
