409: 409 409: 409 CLANG!

CLANG!

CLANG!

The air split apart with each strike.

Two blurred figures moved faster than the eye could follow, their swords clashing again and again.

Each impact created bursts of light and wind that tore through the surroundings.

The ground cracked under their feet.

Ground shattered into splinters.

Rocks turned into dust as shockwaves rippled out in every direction.

Kael and Roman moved after images as their blades cut through the air.

Every swing carried deadly force.

Sparks flew each time their weapons met.

The pressure was suffocating, and the sound of their battle echoed through the valley like thunder.

BOOOOM!

A massive explosion erupted as Kael’s strike met Roman’s defense.

The force blasted apart the nearby hill, scattering debris across the battlefield.

Flames flickered through the dust-filled air.

The ground was scorched black, and the heat made the air tremble.

Amidst the chaos, Roman’s eyes narrowed.

He felt something-a faint trail of mana slicing through the air behind him.

His instincts screamed danger.

He twisted his body just in time as a golden flash cut through where his neck had been.

SWISH!

The golden sword strike missed by inches, cutting a deep line through the ground.

Roman turned his head sharply and saw Roosevelt stepping into view, his golden aura flaring like fire with his eyes burned with fury.

Kael clicked his tongue, his expression turning grim.

“What about that bitch?” Roosevelt’s jaw tightened.

“She escaped!” he shouted, his voice filled with frustration.

He clenched his sword tightly, clearly blaming himself.

Kael’s eyes darkened.

“Wr should end this first.” The two of them rushed forward, their movements blending together.

Their swords slashed at Roman from both sides.

The air whistled with the speed of their attacks.

Roman blocked one strike, then another, sparks flying as steel met steel.

He slid backward, boots digging into the cracked earth.

Then, suddenly, a deep, guttural roar tore through the battlefield.

“RAAAHHHHHH!” The sound was inhuman, powerful enough to shake the mountains.

The air vibrated like a living thing.

Roman froze mid-step.

His eyes flickered toward the direction of the voice, and for the first time, his expression hardened into real concern.

He muttered in a low, sharp tone, “I need to leave…” Kael and Roosevelt exchanged quick glances.

Their instincts told them something was wrong.

They both lunged forward at the same time, not willing to let him go.

Roman’s eyes glowed crimson.

He thrust his sword into the ground, and the earth began to glow with dark red light.

“Domain of Arrogant Sovereignty!” he shouted.

A wave of oppressive energy burst from him.

The ground cracked open and huge stone pillars rose around them.

Black lightning danced through the air.

A pressure so strong it felt like the sky itself was collapsing pressed down on Kael and Roosevelt.

Kael gritted his teeth.

“Shit, he’s creating a domain!” Roosevelt tried to cut through the energy, but his blade barely moved an inch forward.

The force was overwhelming.

The world around them warped, as if reality itself was bending to Roman’s will.

Roman stood in the center, his eyes glowing like fire.

“Stay in that prison of mine,” he said coldly.

His voice echoed as his figure began to blur.

Kael shouted, “Don’t you dare run!” But it was too late.

Roman’s body turned into a streak of red light that shot into the distance.

BOOOOM!

The domain collapsed behind him, exploding in a wave of dust and energy.

Kael and Roosevelt were thrown backward, rolling across the cracked ground.

When the air finally cleared, Kael slammed his sword into the ground and stood up, breathing heavily.

Roosevelt rose beside him, blood trickling down his forehead.

“Damn it,” Kael muttered, his voice low and sharp.

“He got away.” Roosevelt clenched his fist.

“Next time, I’ll make sure he doesn’t.” “By the way… what was that power?” Roosevelt asked, his voice still shaky from what he had seen.

He had fought countless battles and was close to reaching SS rank, but nothing like that had ever appeared before him.

“That’s a sort of domain,” Kael replied quietly, his tone heavy and serious.

“Domain?” Roosevelt muttered, trying to understand.

He frowned and looked at Kael.

“Can we do it?” Kael looked at him with calm eyes and asked, “Do you have God’s blessing?” Roosevelt shook his head.

“Then no,” Kael said simply.

Roosevelt’s shoulders dropped.

He glanced at the scorched ground where the domain had spread moments ago.

“So only those blessed by gods can do that?” Kael nodded slowly.

“Only those with God’s Blessing can materialize the power of their blessings over a wide area.

Like those demons who use the origin of their sins.” “Wait a moment..You don’t know about domains..”Kael looked at Roosevelt with a questioning gaze.

“That….I think I heard it somewhere but can’t remember it.” “….” Kawl stayed silent for a moment, watching the dark smoke rise from the distance.

“Let’s head back,” Kael said at last, turning away.

The two of them made their way toward the camp.

The path was filled with wounded soldiers and broken weapons.

The stench of blood and burnt soil still lingered in the air.

When they finally reached the camp, the sight before them was completely different.

The soldiers were cheering.

“We did it!” “Victory for humanity!” “Those demons can’t stand against us!” Voices rose across the camp, loud and full of pride.

The men were smiling, laughing, and clashing their weapons together.

Small fires burned around as food and drinks were shared.

The air felt lighter after the tense battle, but beneath the laughter, there was exhaustion in everyone’s eyes.

Kael walked through the crowd silently, his eyes scanning the lively scene.

Then he noticed someone shouting from the center of the camp.

It was Verion, drunk and standing on top of a barrel.

“These demons are nothing in front of us!” Verion shouted loudly, waving his cup in the air.

“Did you see how they ran the moment they saw my brother and brother-in-law?” Kael stopped walking and turned his gaze.

“Cheers for my brother in law.” “???” Kael blinked, confused.

“…” Roosevelt stood beside him with a blank face.

Kael turned his head toward Roosevelt.

“Do you know anything about that?” Roosevelt lifted his hands defensively.

“Don’t give me that look.

I don’t know anything.” Verion was about to continue his drunken bragging when a sword scabbard slammed down on his forehead with a sharp thud.

THWACK!

He fell instantly, clutching his head and groaning.

Martina stood behind him, holding her sword, her eyes cold and serious.

“Sorry,” she said flatly, looking around at the staring soldiers.

“This guy has a habit of talking too much after drinking.” Without another word, she grabbed Verion by the collar and dragged him away while everyone watched in silence.

A few soldiers coughed awkwardly.

“Cough… Cough…” one muttered.

“Don’t mind him.” Kael nodded slightly and turned to leave.

But before he could take more than a few steps, Roosevelt spoke.

“By the way,” Roosevelt said casually, “what do you think of my sister?” Kael froze for a second.

His steps didn’t stop, but they quickened immediately.

“Hey, where are you going?” Roosevelt shouted, chasing after him.

“At least answer my question!” Kael ignored him, walking faster but Roosevelt’s question still followed behind.

…

Later that night, a meeting was called inside the main tent.

The air inside was thick and heavy.

Fred and Hobbins stood at the front, their faces lit by the dim firelight.

Around them sat Kael, Roosevelt, Martina, Hans, and others who had taken part in the battle.

Fred spoke first.

“Everyone here fought bravely today.

We held the line when it mattered most and pushed them back.

I thank all of you for giving your best.” He paused and then continued.

“Special thanks to Kael and Roosevelt, who managed to hold Selena and even Roman at bay.

That was no small feat.” The others nodded in agreement.

Fred then looked at the rest of the group.

“Martina, Hans, Riley-you all did great work leading your divisions.

The men are alive because of your efforts.” There was a brief moment of pride in the room, but Kael soon broke the silence.

“Update on the current situation,” he asked firmly.

Fred nodded and pointed to the large map spread across the table.

“There are four routes that lead to the other side.

We attacked two of them today.

The result was decent,we damaged the enemy lines, but the effect wasn’t significant.” “If only we had taken down one of their generals,” Hobbins said, frustration in his voice.

Martina frowned.

“That gluttony monster we captured, wasn’t he one of their generals?” Fred shook his head slowly.

“Sadly, no.

We first thought he was from Beelzebub’s clan, but after studying his body, we realized something’s off.” “Off?” Roosevelt asked.

Fred’s voice turned grim.

“He was just an experimental monster.

Not a true demon.” The words sent a chill through the room.

Everyone went silent.

“Experimental… monster?” Hans repeated softly.

“Yes,” Fred said.

“We’re sure now.

His structure, aura, everything is different.

He wasn’t born like the others.

And don’t forget, high-ranking demons always take humanoid forms.

This one didn’t.” The realization darkened everyone’s faces.

“Do demons even experiment on monsters?” Martina asked quietly.

“We don’t know the full details,” Fred replied.”But someone is behind this.” Kael, who had been silent the entire time, finally spoke.

His tone was low and steady.

“It must be them.” Everyone turned toward him.

“Then who?” Martina and Roosevelt asked together.

Kael’s eyes shifted toward Hans, then back to Fred and Hobbins.

“The group that worships the Outer Gods,” he said.

“It should be them, right?” Fred and Hobbins looked at each other.

After a long pause, they sighed.

“There’s a high chance it’s them,” Hobbins admitted.

Kael rubbed his forehead, his expression dark.

“Then this victory won’t last long if we don’t take precautions soon.” The tent fell silent.
