405: 405 405: 405 “Hisss…” Groans echoed softly across the cold air as a strange purple mist spread through the field.

It slithered along the ground like smoke, swallowing everything in sight.

The horses neighed wildly as their eyes rolled in fear.

Kael’s mount jerked hard, throwing him off balance.

He stumbled, spun in midair, and landed roughly on the ground.

He groaned and pushed himself up, his hands pressing against the cold earth.

The fog around him shimmered faintly, and his vision blurred.

When he looked ahead, his eyes widened in shock.

A group of women appeared all around him.

Their skin glowed faintly in the mist.

Some stood barefoot over the snow, their long hair flowing as if caught in an unseen breeze.

Their eyes were deep and strange, drawing him closer.

They smiled softly, their voices echoing in his head.

“Come to me…” one whispered.

“You must be tired,” said another, her tone sweet and gentle.

“Come rest in my arms.” “Let me make you forget all your pain,” another voice purred beside his ear.

Kael’s heart skipped a beat.

His body felt heavy, and his head became dizzy.

He could feel the pull of their charm, soft and dangerous.

He clenched his teeth, shutting his eyes tightly.

“No,” he muttered, forcing himself to focus.

He steadied his breathing and began to circulate his inner power.

His mana rushed through his body like a wave of cold air, clearing his thoughts.

When he opened his eyes again, the illusion vanished like smoke in the wind.

But what he saw next was far worse.

All around him, soldiers were trapped in illusions of their own.

Some men laughed with empty eyes, their arms spread wide as if holding someone invisible.

Others screamed and struggled, swinging their swords at shadows only they could see.

“Ahh… no… not there…” someone moaned.

“Ooo… I’ve never felt like this…” another soldier whispered dreamily.

“So beautiful… please marry me…” cried one more, kneeling on the ground.

Kael stared at the chaos.

His eyes narrowed as he searched through the mess.

Then, among the motionless bodies, he saw Roosevelt standing still, frozen like a statue.

“Your Highness!” Kael shouted, running toward him.

“Your Highness, wake up!” Suddenly, Roosevelt’s voice cracked out through the air.

“Stop!” he shouted, his voice trembling.

The tone startled Kael for a moment.

Kael slowed his steps, watching him carefully.

He could hear Roosevelt mumbling under his breath.

“Lady, don’t you dare touch me,” he muttered.

“I’m a single-lady man.

I don’t have the habit of sleeping around.” He screamed like a righteous man however her expression said otherwise.

Kael blinked, his face twisting in disbelief.

“…At least say that without that expression,” he muttered dryly, noticing the bright line of blood running from Roosevelt’s nose.

He stepped forward and slapped the back of Roosevelt’s head lightly.

Roosevelt twitched, his eyes flickering for a moment before rolling back into the illusion again.

“Damn you,” Kael hissed.

“Get up, or else the dem-” He stopped mid-sentence, his thoughts snapping together.

He looked around slowly.

The demons should have attacked by now, but the battlefield was strangely still.

Then he saw it, demons were also rolling on the ground, groaning and shaking.

Their bodies twisted as if something had taken hold of them.

Some clawed at their heads, others bit into the earth.

The scene looked absurd.

Kael frowned.

“It must be that bitch Selena and her puppeteers…” he muttered.

“I need to locate her first.” He tapped his forehead, closing his eyes.

His mana spread out like ripples in water.

The world around him shrank, fading into shades of white and gray as his senses expanded outward.

He could feel the energy of hundreds of living beings across the battlefield – and then, far away, a stronger presence pulsing faintly.

“Gotch,” he whispered under his breath.

He turned to Roosevelt, cracking his knuckles.

“I need some help.” A few seconds later, a loud scream split the air.

“Kyaaaaaaahhhh!” ….

The sound came from a distance, echoing along the cliffs.

Far above, near the edge of a jagged cliff wall, a beautiful woman stood with her hand pressed against her lips.

Her body looked elegant and perfect, but her expression twisted with rage.

A thick vein pulsed on her forehead, and she bit her lip hard, trembling in anger.

“These fuckers!” she screamed.

“Didn’t they say they could handle my illusion?

Now what is this mess?

Gyaaa!” Selena, the succubus queen, was furious.

The plan had been simple.

She had cast a wide illusion domain of seduction to trap the human soldiers.

Every demon chosen for this mission was supposed to be strong-hearted.

Those who had long given up love and lust.

They had sworn they were perfect for the job.

Now, most of them are twitching on the ground.

“Lady Selena, what should we do now?” one of her subordinates asked, her voice shaking.

“Should we call for reinforcements?” another succubus suggested.

Selena frowned, her jaw tightening.

Then a cheerful voice cut in.

A male succubus tall, pale, with playful eyes – clapped his hands and licked his lips.

“Why don’t we just go there and suck them dry?” he said, grinning.

“Kekekeke…” Selena turned toward him, ready to snap.

But her eyes suddenly caught something strange a flicker of movement, a streak of light cutting through the mist.

Her pupils shrank.

“Jump!” she screamed.

BOOOOM!

A huge explosion ripped through the cliffside.

Rocks and dust exploded into the air as the ground cracked open.

The shockwave sent the succubi flying, their bodies spinning helplessly through the air.

The sound of collapsing stone echoed, and thick smoke covered the area.

Then, through that haze, a voice rolled like thunder.

It was deep and furious, shaking the air.

“Ladies…” The voice grew louder.

“I swear I am a single-lady man, so how dare you seduce me…” The next roar tore through the air.

“ARGHHHHH!” A wave of dark energy burst from below, and a demonic aura spread like fire.

Even the succubi froze, their faces pale as the heavy pressure filled the air.

…….

“How is the situation?” Martina asked, uneasy.

She looked at Han, who kept staring ahead.

Han lowered his scope and turned to her with a tight smile.

He handed the scope over.

Martina raised it and peered through.

Her face changed.

“Damn… that’s dirty,” she breathed.

“Still, they should handle it.

We must strike from other fronts too.” Verion watched from the side and muttered under his breath.

“Damn… is this guy a pervert.” Martina shooed him away and focused ahead.

“Don’t worry,he will manage.” He followed the scene as the dust cleared and saw a squad of succubi lying on the ground.

They were dressed in thin, revealing clothes.

Their hair spilled across the snow.

They squirmed and flirted even as they tried to stand.

One of them slid a hand over her belly and begged in a plaintive voice, “Big brother… Why did you attack us?

We meant no harm to you… we just wanted to ease your pain.

How cruel.” Roosevelt paused with his hand on his sword.

He did not move right away.

He did not know how to respond to their act.

Then a cold voice reached him.

“Remember one thing,” the voice said.

“A woman will always lower the speed of drawing the shield so you should be careful.” The warning sounded almost polite.

A thin red line flashed across the sky.

In the next moment the head of one succubus near Roosevelt fell.

Her head rolled over the snow.

Roosevelt stared in horror at the cruel sight of a beautiful face severed and lifeless.

“This… this is too cruel,” he whispered, causing Kael’s steps to falter.

He stared as if the world had tilted.

“Since when did this guy become soft?” someone hissed nearby.

“Arghhhh!

You really killed them.” The accusation cut through the cold air.

A killing intent rose at the center of the field.

The air thickened.

Dust swirled as a new figure appeared.

She moved like a storm.

Her presence shut the murmurs down.

She looked like a perfect goddess.

Her face was calm and terrible.

Two curved horns rose from her forehead, but otherwise she could be mistaken for a woman.

Her eyes locked on Kael and Roosevelt.

She pointed at them with cold calm.

“You killed my kins… I will skin you alive.” Her voice was low, and every word hit like a stone.

Bang.

The ground shook as she stepped forward.

Snow and dirt burst up.

Her movement left a raw, dangerous space between her and the two men.

The succubus around them gripped their weapons harder.

The light seemed to dull for a moment.

Roosevelt swallowed.

Kael drew his sword slowly, watching the horned woman with a flat stare.

He was about to step up when Roosevelt shoved him aside.

“Leave her to me..Go and take care of other succubus.” With that Roosevelt image blurred as he shot ahead leaving behind after images.

Next moment,a loud blast echoed.
