The Grand Duke's Son Is A Heretic - Chapter 404
403: 403 403: 403 A huge allied army marched slowly through the snow, their boots pressing deep into the frozen ground and leaving behind long trails of footprints.
The cold wind howled across the field as they advanced toward the North, where the main demon camp was said to be waiting.
After a long march, a faint mist began to appear in their vision.
The fog grew thicker before it slowly shifted, revealing a massive stretch of dark, endless camps ahead.
Between them lay a narrow ravine cutting across the white land like a wound.
The allied troops stopped at the edge with their eyes fixed on the land beyond.
“Damn!
That’s quite a suitable place for a camp,” one soldier muttered.
“Of all places, did it really have to be behind a ravine?” another complained, shaking his head.
“There’s a frozen lake around that area,” someone pointed out quietly.
“So, it seems we’ll need to move from the other side,” another voice replied.
With the ravine blocking the way, the allied army halted their march and began setting up temporary camps.
The sound of hammers striking wood and soldiers shouting orders filled the cold air.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the ravine, a soft, teasing voice echoed through the mist.
“My, my…” the voice hummed.
A beautiful woman sat on top of a pile of snow, crossing one leg over the other.
Her figure was quite curvy and seductive, and her dark hair flowed down to her waist.
Her skin was pale like moonlight, and her eyes glowed a deep crimson.
She wore an outfit that left little to the imagination, her every movement exuding charm.
“The humans are finally here,” she said with a grin, licking her lips.
“Now I can really play with them to my heart’s content.
It’s going to be so enjoyable… Kekeke.” Her shrill laughter echoed through the frozen air.
“Selena!
Don’t fool around,” a deep, cold voice interrupted her.
A tall demon stood beside her.
His body was lean but powerful, his face calm and sharp like carved stone.
His dark horns curved backward, and a heavy aura of pride surrounded him.
“I’m warning you again,” he said.
“Don’t mess this up.” Selena pouted, tilting her head playfully.
“You demons from Pride are always so serious.
Shouldn’t we relax and have some fun, my dear Roman Lucifer?” she said in a sweet tone, her eyes glimmering mischievously.
“Shut up,” Roman said sharply, glaring at her.
Before either could speak again, a loud growl echoed nearby.
“Haaa… I’m so hungry,” a massive demon muttered.
His body was round like a pig’s, and his stomach was shaking as he rubbed it.
“I haven’t eaten anything since I heard the humans were coming.
I want to eat a big beast.” Roman and Selena froze for a moment before slowly turning toward the source.
The fat demon’s greasy grin made Selena click her tongue in disgust.
“These Beelzebubs are disgusting,” she muttered.
“Someone should really teach them manners.” The fat demon ignored her, still rubbing his belly.
A bit away, the demon clicked his tongue “Anyway, these humans must have brought many treasures.
I’ll loot everything from their remains and sell it all at a high price.
Then I’ll finally be rich!
Hahaha!” Roman’s face darkened, and a thick vein bulged on his forehead.
“Wealth?” he said coldly.
“Yes, wealth!” the fat demon shouted proudly.
“You know how poor I am.
Fighting in this demon army doesn’t pay well, so I have to plan for my retirement!” Roman let out a long, frustrated sigh.
He looked at the group of demons before him – each one acting like a fool.
‘Can you all be serious for once?’ he thought bitterly.
‘We are here for war, not entertainment.
Do you even understand what will happen if we lose?’ He wanted to shout, but seeing their careless faces only made his head hurt.
Finally, he waved his hand tiredly.
“Do whatever you want,” he said in a low voice.
“Just make sure you don’t get killed by the humans.
As long as we keep winning, you can act however you want.” The cold wind howled again, carrying the faint laughter of demons across the frozen battlefield.
……
After the camps were set and the soldiers finished preparations, the higher ranks were called to gather.
A steady line of officers moved toward the center of the assembly ground.
At the center stage stood four figures: Hobbins, Fred, Crebs, and Michelle.
The sight of them made the air tighten.
Vic’s face darkened at once.
He muttered under his breath, clicking his teeth and eyes flicking with open dislike.
“I understand the other three but why is that bitch standing there…Does that bitch even deserve to stand there?” Heads turned around. Some stifled surprised noises.
Herion gave Vic a light, teasing pat on the shoulder and raised an eyebrow.
“It seems she really pissed you off.” Vic flared his nostrils and tightened his grip on his sword hilt.
He paced around filled with restless.
“Pissed me…Fuck no…Her presence is enough to make go crazy…I really want to go ahead and slap her face..If only her parents taught her well she wouldn’t have behave so wantonly after growing up..” He would have kept talking if Kael had not reached out and grabbed his face in a quick, rough move.
Kael’s voice was low but sharp as he pulled Vic back from the edge of losing control.
“Damn man…Shut up…We are going to be killed because of you..” Kael turned away from the gathering and scanned the officers’ faces.
He spoke more quietly now, a warning in each word.
“See if everyone heard this we might be beaten by everyone so control your anger after all this isn’t real world.” Handle stepped close and put a calming hand on Vic’s shoulder.
“Yes Vic…
Control that damn temper of yours..” Vic took a long, forced breath.
He clenched his fists, then let them fall as if letting out steam.
He started to relax, shoulders dropping.
“Yes My Lord!” Just when silence began to settle, a loud voice rang from the stage, full of practiced scorn.
It echoed over the ground and pricked at everyone’s patience.
“What is this stupidity?” The speaker’s tone was filled with disgust .
A ripple of annoyed murmurs went through the crowd.
“Can’t you see who is standing here..We four are your superior…Don’t you need to greet us with a bow..” “Haven’t you been taught about manners and decent courtesy..” Vic shot a look at Kael, blinking slowly as if the earlier restraint was being tested.
“Vic!” “Yes My Lord!” Kael leaned in and snorted softly with a serious look.
“During the war…Find a chance to kill that bitch..I have enough …” Silence fell like a weight.
People’s expressions shifted a bit.
Vic looked at Kael with an incredulous, blinking gaze, equal parts hurt and disbelief.
“My Lord..I might look like an idiot but did you literally take me as one..” “If I harmed her, wouldn’t the Church chase me to the ends of hell for real.” Kael ruffled Vic’s hair in a quick, almost affectionate motion, trying to smooth the tension.
“Don’t worry I will protect you.” Vic rolled his eyes and crossed his arms and screamed.
“The hell I believe you…” A cough cut the air.
A nearby officer cleared his throat as if warning him.
‘Sir if you don’t stay silent then we might be silenced eternally for real.’ …….
The four figures stood on the platform, with their eyes fixed on Michelle, who still looked stubborn and proud.
Her chin was lifted high as if she refused to bend even a little.
The others beside her Hobbins, Fred, and Crebs exchanged looks of disbelief.
Around the stage, many soldiers bowed, easing some of Michelle’s irritation.
Yet, the few who remained standing caught her eye, and her calm expression turned sour.
Her lips parted, ready to scold them, but before she could speak, Crebs raised his hand slightly.
His calm yet deep voice carried across the camp, amplified by a wave of mana.
“I hope you know what we are going to do next.” The sound rolled through the crowd like thunder.
The chatter died instantly.
Faces turned grim, and the air thickened with tension.
Fred stepped forward beside him, his boots crunching softly against the snow.
He pointed toward the far end of the horizon, where dark fog drifted beyond the frozen ravine.
“On that side that you are seeing stands the fort that marks the beginning of the Demon Continent,” he said in a clear tone.
“One of the most gruesome and devastating places in the world to be born.” ………..
[Author Talks.] At this point,I don’t even know if you are following the seriee but I really have to confess..
The current arc is a mess..No,it’s horrendous.
Initially it was meant to showcase Kael’s past but now it’s just all over the place… The past months had been so taxing so I wasn’t able to plan the sequence of events properly.
So I will try to wrap it up sooner with the current war.
Apologies from author.
