Chapter 471: New beginnings (3)
Tyrion eventually found that Penelope had not left to get even with him, but she had moved where she sat.

Tyrion motioned for Matilda to move as he cautiously neared Penelope.

“What is my dear wife doing?” Tyrion asked, looming over Penelope to get a glimpse of the book in her hands.

“I am reading. Unlike some people, others want to have a peaceful morning after moving into a new home. We don’t all get up on roofs and not think about how others would feel,” Penelope answered.

“I am surprised you did not wander off to do something to get even with me. To scare me.”

Penelope snapped the book shut. “Do you truly think I would get on the roof to make you panic? One of us has to be wise. You may rest assured knowing that I would never place myself in danger to prove a point to you.”

“That pleases me. The leak is fixed,” Tyrion informed Penelope. “A little water got in last night, and thankfully, a maid noticed it. Are you still angry with me?”

Tyrion bent down to kiss Penelope’s cheek, but she was quick to move away from him.

“I apologise for frightening you. Didn’t you say you wanted to give me a normal life?”

Penelope shifted in her seat and raised the book to repeatedly hit Tyrion with it.

“You know I meant letting you enjoy a life where everyone doesn’t know you are a prince. Not going up on a roof as though you have done it many times before. When have you ever learned to fix a leak? Did the servants not tell you to get down?” Penelope asked, continuing to hit him.

Tyrion laughed at every hit he received. “It is good to learn. I could not do it if I were in the palace, but now I have the freedom. I don’t plan to get on the roof every time there is a leak, but I can say that I fixed it once.”

Penelope set the book down on her lap. “Could you at least warn me when you are going to do something so adventurous? Why do you not wake me when you are leaving our bed? Will I wake up tomorrow and find that you are not in bed?”

“No,” Tyrion caressed Penelope’s face. “I am only working so our home will be done sooner. There is more work to be done.”

“I am well aware of this. We moved here rather quickly. I am not upset by the state of our home. Since there is a lot of work being done inside, it gives us reason to leave home during the day. When you are done toying with your life, join me for a walk,” Penelope proposed.

“I am done dangling my life in the face of death,” Tyrion said, offering his hand to Penelope.

Tyrion helped Penelope up from her chair and linked their arms.

“I will soon send out letters to my friends so they know we are in town and I have gotten married. I will keep your name a secret for now and share it when they stand before us. What do you think of us hosting a ball in due time?” Penelope asked.

“I am not against it,” Tyrion replied.

“It would have to be when our parents are here, so they can attend and at a good time when our friends can attend. I have always wanted to host a ball, so I think it would be lovely. We would get to dance as long as we want,” Penelope said, imagining everyone standing together.

“Do as you wish,” said Tyrion.

Penelope inched closer to Tyrion. “It must be something that you want as well. I don’t want you to say yes to everything I want. That would bore me.”

“I am not against hosting a ball or any other gathering. It is long overdue that we have one of our own. It would be good if our family and friends could attend,” Tyrion agreed.

“Then it is set. Once our home is finished and everyone can attend, we shall have a ball. I need to get a few flowers in the garden, though they will not last long. A winter ball would be lovely,” Penelope considered.

“At the end of the season, we will need to go back to the palace for my father’s birthday,” Tyrion reminded Penelope.

“Oh, yes. We will be quite busy since my father’s birthday isn’t long before then. Speaking of travelling, when should we venture into the kingdom? I want to see many towns. We must plan it out,” Penelope suggested.

Penelope wanted to see what each town had to offer.

“We don’t need to go right away. Perhaps we could visit a different town each year and stay there for a week or two. I have already thought of some towns we must visit. Imagine how it will be to decorate our home with what we find in other towns,” Penelope spoke with excitement.

“I am looking forward to it. It will create many good memories. So, this shall be our forever home, right? This is where we shall return to after each trip?” Tyrion asked.

Penelope looked around the mansion. “At the moment, it is. There is no telling if we shall fall in love somewhere else. Home is wherever we are in my eyes.”

“This is closest to our families.”

“I know that, but I believe we should live where it feels right. We can always travel to see our families. Do not worry, since I won’t ask that we up and leave soon to find another forever home. I want you to love it here just as much as I do. We should go into the town,” Penelope suggested.

Penelope couldn’t wait any longer to show Tyrion all that she loved.

Penelope pulled Tyrion in the direction of the stables. “We must go to the bakery and have our fill of pastries. Once you have your first bite, you will see why I enjoy them.”
