Every time Riley’s head tipped back and that slender neck of his came into view, Kael had to fight the primal urge to lean in and claim. To press his mouth to that warm, inviting skin. To drag his tongue along the curve of his throat and leave behind proof of possession.

He wanted to be the reason Riley’s breath kept catching like that.

He wanted to be the beginning and end of every trembling moan slipping past those parted lips.

Was this what they meant by mating for pleasure?

Because the feeling blooming in his chest was not about when and where to plant his seed. Or about searching for a particular scent to trigger arousal.

It was something else. And he didn’t think he even needed his other senses to tell him how aroused he already was.

Kael tried to take everything in, but he didn’t know where to focus.

“Your turn,” he whispered.

His voice cracked faintly, but the words still landed with force.

Riley’s body was trembling. His expression was flustered, cheeks pink and lips parted, and yet his hands reached forward with quiet determination.

“Please touch me,” he said.

Kael could have sworn lightning hit him.

The sound of those words falling from his human’s mouth—pleading and reverent—stilled every breath in his chest. His mind stopped. But his heart didn’t. It thundered wildly in its place.

He hadn’t even moved yet, and still, the golden dragon felt like he was being pulled under.

Then Riley’s hand found his and gently guided it forward.

Kael’s palm met warm skin.

A moan escaped from those sensual lips, and the struggling dragon had to gather self-control as he felt that hot and soft skin against his hand.

He started with that slender waist. Slowly. Carefully. His thumb moved upward first, dragging along the ridge of his abdomen in a firm but tender line, as if memorizing the shape of him by touch alone. His fingers curled slightly, sliding over flushed skin and making Riley shiver with each pass.

His human was so soft. So warm. Almost feverish.

The dragon lord could feel the loud beating of his mortal’s heart, the throbbing, and those inviting nipples. Every time he flicked one, he’d feel extremely compelled to treat the other fairly.

At first, Riley tried guiding Kael’s fingers, but eventually couldn’t continue to guide him because he was drowning in pleasure and arousal.
