Chapter 213: The Dragon’s Lesson
Kael didn’t say anything at first. He simply looked at Riley, studying him the way one might examine a rare creature that had just confessed something outrageous.
Then, with a slow movement, he lifted a finger and pointed toward his cheek.
“This one,” he said calmly, “was during that meeting. In front of everyone.”
Riley blinked. “What?”
Kael’s hand moved again, this time to his lips. “Then here. When you jumped at me and kissed me… only to break skin.”
The human’s face heated up. “Wait! You asked for that one, and I even got permission!”
“My body—” Kael began, but stopped when he saw that the twig’s expression had turned scandalized.
“What body?!” Riley blurted out, already certain he had no idea what was coming next.
The golden lizard continued as if he hadn’t heard him. “There was that instance… when you had to be brought into the bath and wouldn’t stop pressing against my body.”
“That was medical! A medical emergency!”
Kael ignored the interruption entirely. “Just moments ago, even my fingers ended up in your mouth. Then, just the other day, your leg kept rubbing against my—”
Before he could finish, the embarrassed aide clapped a hand over the dragon’s mouth. “Stop! Okay, I get it already!”
Kael’s eyes gleamed mischievously. He slowly licked his lips, the movement deliberate and sensual.
Riley jolted where he sat—on the dragon lord’s lap—and pulled his hand away as if burned.
“See, all of those,” Kael said, voice smooth, “I learned from you.”
The mortal’s poor brain short-circuited. “What?! Did you seriously learn to make out from that?!”
The golden dragon tilted his head slightly. “How incompetent would someone have to be to fail to learn from someone so eager to teach?”
His brows furrowed as his tongue clicked softly, clearly displeased by the question.
Riley could only stare at him, completely dumbfounded.
Ignoring all else, surely, this guy was the epitome of all golden children. Not only had he been born quite literally golden, but even his learning ability was golden!
Although that mouth. That mouth was really just a little too scandalous for a mortal’s pitiful heart!
“But that’s not the issue here, is it?” Kael continued, his tone dropping lower, his gaze narrowing. “The issue is how you’ve learned all of those things… and yet I haven’t heard of anything. So, who were you planning on using that knowledge on?”
“!!!”
Riley froze, flabbergasted and utterly mortified.
“I—what—no one in particular!” he sputtered, hands waving in frantic denial. Because it was true. It wasn’t like he had even planned on using the things he learned.
Well, at least not until today.
Then, red to the ears, he burst out, “On you! Dammit! I had no actual person to use them on before, but I mentioned all this now so I can use them on you!”
Kael blinked.
Riley took a breath, his chest heaving and his patience shot.
“So, My Lord,” he said, his voice trembling but resolute, “before I lose my nerve, please shut up and kiss me.”
__
If nothing else, for someone so overbearing, the golden dragon had always been strangely obedient in fulfilling his twig’s commands.
Long and deft fingers pulled Riley’s head closer, just before hot lips crashed into his.
A sound escaped between them—a low, startled moan that melted into a shiver.
Kael’s hand slipped to the back of Riley’s neck, pulling him in until there was no space left, no air left to take. The kiss wasn’t soft. It wasn’t careful. It was urgent, desperate, as if Kael had been dying to do this all along.
The golden dragon tilted his head, deepening the kiss further, lips and breath colliding, seeking better access even though they were already impossibly close. Riley’s pulse pounded against his chest as Kael’s tongue brushed against his, slow at first, then demanding.
Riley was undone.
The jelly of a human nearly turned to liquid, his knees weak, his hands clutching at Kael’s shoulders for balance. The moment he realized that all this hunger, all this heat, had been meant for him, his spine tingled and his breath caught in his throat.
Maybe, Riley thought hazily, he really was capable of teaching him like this.
Kael’s mouth moved against his again, slower now but no less consuming. Riley’s arms rose instinctively, winding around the dragon’s neck. His fingers tangled in the thick strands of golden locks, gripping, tugging, holding. When he finally pulled, the dragon lord’s lips broke away from his, and the air rushed back between them in shaky breaths.
Riley was panting, his chest rising and falling rapidly. His green eyes, half-lidded and bright with heat, looked far too enticing for Kael to possibly think of stopping.
But Riley didn’t let their lips meet again. Instead, he leaned close, his breath warm against Kael’s ear.
“There are several types of kisses,” he whispered, “and several areas that you can kiss.”
He started slow.
“There’s these,” he said softly, and pressed a tender kiss on Kael’s temple. Then another to his forehead, and another still against his cheek. Each touch was reverent, gentle, almost innocent—as if he was taking all of Kael’s firsts for himself.
Because he was.
Because how could he not be greedy for this dragon?
“Then you can kiss here,” Riley continued. His lips brushed along the dragon lord’s jawline, following the sharp curve upward. His mouth moved closer to Kael’s ear, and before he could overthink it, he nibbled lightly at the edge.
Kael inhaled sharply, his body tensing for a brief moment.
That single reaction—small, barely visible—sent a rush through the human’s body.
He had been nervous at first, uncertain, but seeing someone like Kael react to his touch awakened something deep inside him. He sure as hell understood why humans were so obsessed with giving pleasure to their partners.
Curiosity overtook hesitation.
Riley’s lips trailed downward, finding the dragon lord’s throat. He licked first and noticed Kael’s back straighten at once. His breath hitched, rough and sharp, while Riley pressed small, fluttering kisses along the spot, tracing the line of his pulse.
When he finally pulled back, the human’s hand was still on Kael’s neck, fingers brushing along his jaw as his eyes met the dragon’s.
In that room lit by the faint hum of mana, Kael wasn’t sure if he imagined the subtle change he saw—the flicker of light in Riley’s gaze—but he was distracted when Riley spoke. His voice was steady, low, and filled with intent.
“Kael,” he asked softly, “can I mark you as we humans would?”
Kael blinked. His heart raced as his hands gripped the edge of the table. “A mark?”
His voice came out rough. “You want to mark me?”
“Yes,” Riley whispered. “I’m not sure if it would even work on you. It’s not permanent—it would fade unless I make a new one. And others might not know it came from me…”
“But I would know. We would know.” His thumb brushed Kael’s jaw again. “Just how I marked you.”
Kael’s eyes slitted, pupils narrowing, his entire body trembling with restrained hunger. The table beneath his hands groaned, threatening to break under his tightening grip.
“Then mark me well.”
Riley’s breath caught. Slowly, deliberately, he leaned forward, lips finding that spot on Kael’s neck that made him twitch. He licked first, a teasing glide of tongue against skin, then sealed his lips over it and sucked.
Kael’s breath hitched again, rough and deep, his hands gripping the table tighter. Riley’s lips moved in slow, deliberate motions—licking, kissing, and returning—each pass leaving heat in its wake until a faint red mark bloomed against the dragon’s golden skin.
The sound that came from Kael was low, strained, and filled with something raw.
When Riley finally pulled back, he licked his lower lip, his voice barely a whisper.
“There,” he said softly. “Now it’s your turn to learn that, too.”
And Kael, whose heart thundered in his chest, thought faintly that perhaps one mark would never be enough.
Then again, apparently, his twig was just starting.
