Chapter 419: Good With Faces
“This guy!”

Haji’s voice echoed inside the small store near the set as he pointed at the CCTV footage playing on the monitor. “I saw this guy at the hospital.”

Standing beside him, Izu raised an eyebrow. “You sure?”

“Did I tell you I’m good with faces?” Haji deadpanned. “I’m sure of it.”

He leaned closer to the screen, studying the paused frame. “That’s him. I saw that guy today. Why don’t you ask your men if they caught this person on the hospital’s security footage?”

The two exchanged looks before Izu picked up his phone.

Izu didn’t think much of Haji. For him, Haji was a man who was built like muscle, not management. A goon with too many scars and not enough patience. Still, Izu wasn’t stupid. For all his rough edges, Izu knew better than to dismiss things outright.

With Baby away, Izu was left in charge of the investigation. He couldn’t afford to mess it up, even though a part of him still wanted to believe it was nothing but an accident.

He dialed one of the men stationed at the hospital. When the line connected, his voice was flat and direct.

“Did you check the footage?”

“Yes, captain,” came the reply. “We just retrieved it and are about to send it to you.”

“Did you find anything?”

“Not much, but a suspicious person is loitering around the hallway near Miss Lola’s ward.”

Izu’s brow arched. He glanced sideways at Haji, who smirked knowingly.

“Send it,” Izu ordered, then hung up.

Seconds later, his phone chimed with an incoming file. He played the footage immediately, and both men leaned in.

The video showed a man pacing back and forth, occasionally peeking into Lola’s ward before walking offscreen.

Izu’s expression hardened. He paused the clip and slowly lifted his eyes toward Haji.

“What?” Haji asked, extending his hand. “Let me see.”

With a sigh, Izu passed him the phone. Haji’s grin widened as he replayed the footage, comparing it with the still image from the set’s CCTV.

“See?” he said, snapping his gaze toward the screen where both frames were frozen side by side. “Told you. I’m really good with faces. Now the real question is—who the hell is this guy?”

“That won’t be a problem,” Izu replied. “We’ll know within the hour.”

Haji blinked. “Wait—what?”

Before he could ask more, Izu had already turned and started walking away.

“Hey! Wait up!” Haji called, jogging after him.

As they walked, curiosity got the better of him. “You’re just gonna report it like that? Don’t you people, I don’t know, investigate first?”

Izu shot him a sidelong look. “Once we arrive, we’ll already have a complete profile of this person. Staying here is just a waste of time.”

“Oh…” Haji nodded slowly, mildly impressed. “That’s new.”

He followed Izu out, his curiosity piqued. Haji had been part of an organization once too, but these people operated on another level. He’d seen Baby and Izu guarding Lola before, but he hadn’t realized there were others—shadow operatives moving unseen under Atlas’s command. He didn’t know how large the network was, but he intended to find out.

Much to his surprise, Izu wasn’t exaggerating.

When they arrived at Summit Partners, they headed straight for Allen’s office. The man was standing near his desk, reading glasses perched on his nose, a folder in one hand and a stack of papers in the other.

Allen looked up when the door opened, his brows rising slightly.

“I didn’t expect to see you here, Mr. Haji,” he remarked with a polite smile.

“He wanted to tag along,” Izu explained. “And since he was the one who spotted something off, I figured it wouldn’t hurt.”

“Of course not.” Allen’s smile widened faintly. He studied Haji for a brief moment before giving him a nod.

“Did we get a profile of the person?” Izu asked. “The boss would want to know if this has any link to the incident.”

Allen chuckled lightly. “Already taken care of. The report’s been sent to him. Good work, Izu.”

“Huh?” Haji blinked, thrown off. “Wait—what? That’s it?”

Allen and Izu both turned to him.

“Good work, Haji,” Allen said smoothly.

He frowned. “I’m not asking for credit. I mean, that’s it? You already found out who that guy was?”

“Yes,” Allen replied matter-of-factly. “As soon as Izu sent us the images from both the set and the hospital, we ran facial recognition. We have a match.”

“Wow,” Haji muttered, genuinely impressed. “That’s… fast.”

“Our boss values efficiency,” Allen said with an amused smile. “He hates wasting time—unless he’s doing it on purpose. And even then, that’s not wasted time. It’s strategy. We live in a complicated world, Mr. Haji.”

Haji nodded slowly. “I see.”

Allen straightened his papers. “We’ll handle it from here.”

Izu lowered his head and turned to leave. Haji hesitated, looking between them before following, though something about Allen’s tone lingered in his mind.

As Izu reached the door, Haji stopped and glanced back. “Wait—am I allowed to ask who that person was?”

Beside him, Izu let out a faint snort.

“Who told you you can’t?” Izu replied sarcastically.

“Huh?” Haji blinked.

Allen chuckled softly. “It’s not forbidden to ask questions, Mr. Haji. It’s just that most of us—especially Izu—prefer not to.”

“My job’s done,” Izu muttered. “They’ll take it from here. So, there’s that.”

“Ah.” Haji nodded, mildly surprised. “That’s… surprisingly obedient of you.”

Allen hummed and stepped closer, holding out the folder. “You really want to know who that man was?”

Haji hesitated, then took it. His eyes scanned the profile and his expression froze.

“Huh?” he muttered. “This guy is…”

Allen finished for him; his voice was calm and deliberate. “Jasmine Young’s self-proclaimed cousin.”

Haji’s brows furrowed. “What the—”

Allen smiled faintly, though there was a sharpness behind it. “Now that I think about it, Mr. Haji… do you have a minute?”

“Me? Why?”

Allen’s eyes flicked briefly toward the window before meeting Haji’s again. His smile didn’t fade, but his tone dropped lower.

“Because I’m about to make a decision,” he said softly, “and I think you might help me understand whether it’s the right one.”

The air in the room suddenly changed. Haji gulped as his brows drew together.

“What kind of decision?” he asked warily.

Allen’s smile lingered, but his eyes said something else entirely.

“The kind,” he murmured, “that could change who lives and who doesn’t.”
