Chapter 409: How Is That Possible?
Lola’s day started normally; her morning routine was the same as always. On her way out of the residence, she stopped and turned toward Atlas.
“Hmm?” she hummed when she caught him looking at her.
“Not going to the hospital?” he asked again.
She shook her head with a smile. “There’s no need for me to go since I’m not his match. But his beloved daughter is. I’m sure they’ll be fine. Melissa will happily save her father’s life. Meanwhile, I still have a role to play.”
“I see.” He nodded lightly, glancing at the children already waiting in the car. “I’ll see you later, then.”
“Mhm.”
With that, Lola turned to leave and was about to get into her car when Atlas spoke again.
“Later.”
His voice made her stop and look back. “Dinner.”
Her brows rose before her lips curved into a smile. “Mhm. I know. Dinner.”
He studied her face for a moment before nodding and signaling her to go. Lola returned the smile before finally stepping into her car. Atlas watched her go before joining his children.
Moments later, several cars rolled out of the residence — Atlas and the twins in the first, and Lola’s car following behind.

“What?”
Lola raised a brow, sensing the glances from both Izu and Baby in the front seats.
“Nothing, Young Madam,” Izu replied quietly.
She darted her gaze between the two, then smiled faintly. “I’m okay,” she mused. “If you’re worried about me because my dad was suicidal, you don’t have to be. I don’t feel guilty at all.”
Baby looked at her through the rearview mirror while Izu glanced back briefly.
That’s not what we were thinking, they both wanted to say, but stayed silent.
“I’m okay,” she repeated under her breath, looking out the window with a short smile. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
Lawrence would live for sure — unless there were complications. The surgeon had said so himself: Lawrence was a fighter. It was even a miracle he’d survived the fall. And Melissa… she might have her issues, but she loved her parents dearly. She only hated Lola.
“I guess hell isn’t ready to take him in,” Lola whispered. “I hope he recovers fast.”

Meanwhile…
“Daddy, are you going to propose to our mommy later?” Chacha asked excitedly. “Are you getting married?”
“I want to carry the ring at the wedding!” Second chimed in. “A ring and a pillow!”
“Should I wear the same dress as Mommy on her wedding day?”
The twins happily interrogated their father on the way to the company, eyes gleaming and smiles wide. Atlas remained calm despite their barrage of questions.
“Mhm,” he hummed. “Today is a perfect day.”
Just as he’d planned — the weather, the venues, every detail was perfect. The only stain on the day was Lawrence’s attempted suicide the night before. Fortunately, one of his daughters had been a match, and Lola had assured him Melissa would do everything to save her father.
“Sir,” Allen called from the passenger seat.
Seeing his assistant’s expression, Atlas glanced back at his children. “Put on your earplugs.”
The twins blinked at him with wide, innocent eyes.
“I’m going to say a bad word.”
“Okay~!” Without hesitation, they dug out their little earplugs and popped them in. With Chacha holding a small phone, the twins began bobbing their heads to the metal music blasting in their ears.
Satisfied, Atlas lifted his gaze to Allen. “Did Baby find out anything last night?”
“He sent a few of our men to talk to the first responders and the police investigators,” Allen began. “They concluded it was a self-harm attempt.”
Atlas arched a brow. “But?”
“But something about that day was strange — or at least, that’s what Baby and our contacts said.”
“How so?”
“Earlier that day, Lawrence had already filed for bankruptcy,” Allen explained. “He went home after days of trying to salvage his company. Once there, he fired all the remaining house staff. According to reports, the helpers said he looked haggard and seemed drunk. That’s why authorities classified it as self-harm under the influence of alcohol.”
He continued, “But logically, the attempt happened at night — several hours after the last helper left. Meaning, Lawrence couldn’t have been drinking that entire time. It’s enough time for him to sober up. He couldn’t have still been that drunk when it happened.”
Atlas listened intently, his expression hardening. “What else?”
“And then, there’s this Mike person,” Allen added. “No one saw him at the house hours before the incident. But when the emergency call was made, he was already there. It’s likely he was in the house when it happened.”
“And their excuse?”
“They said he was staying the night. Supposedly, it’s not unusual since he’s part of the Young family.”
Silence filled the car as Allen continued his report. The findings were unofficial — mostly circumstantial — but still, Atlas could tell something was off.
“Anything that isn’t circumstantial?” Atlas asked. “I want details — undeniable facts.”
Allen nodded, already expecting that question. “It’s about this Mike person, sir.”
“What about him?”
“Jasmine and everyone claim he’s her cousin,” Allen explained. “But we checked Jasmine Young’s family registry. He’s not in it — not even as a distant relative.”
That finally caught Atlas’s attention. “Who is he, then?”
“Our men asked around,” Allen said, handing over a folder. “From what we gathered, he’s actually Jasmine Young’s former lover. We have contacts who can confirm it — people who knew them in the past.”
He hesitated briefly, then added, “And, sir, one more thing — this man runs an illegal gambling business and has been in and out of prison until Jasmine married Lawrence Young.”
Allen exhaled before finishing gravely, “And according to those same people, Melissa might be their child. Jasmine was already pregnant before her affair with Lawrence began.”
“Sir.” He let out a deep breath, his gaze holding Atlas’s sternly. “If this is true, then Melissa Young… isn’t Lawrence Young’s daughter.”
“…” Atlas’ brows knitted at his assistant’s words. “How is that possible? Melissa Young is Lawrence Young’s match.”
