Chapter 311: Fixing Lives
“Mommy, Daddy told us that you were busy fixing your life. That’s why you’re not going home!” Chacha mused in the backseat. The twins were seated between Atlas and Lola, but all their attention was on Lola. “Is it fixed now?”

“Mommy, if you’re not, Second will fix it for you!” Second smiled at her.

Lola smiled, but her eyes wandered to where Atlas was seated. The latter shook his head, telling her that was not what he said.

“Well.” She smacked her lips and excitedly gazed down at the twins. “Yes, it’s fixed now because I finally get to see you both.”

She pinched their cheeks, hugging them again as she deeply missed them. She knew she missed them, but only now did she truly realize just how much she did. When she drew her head back, she gave Atlas a brief look and mouthed,

‘Thank you.’

He nodded at her and let her reunite with the twins. His kids seemed to have forgotten his existence entirely as they just kept talking to Lola, their attention never leaving hers. That was fine and all, but also, why was Lola acting like he wasn’t there as well?

Minutes had passed, and the trio just completely ignored him. Even when he would give some side comments here and there, nothing.

“Ah.” Lola perked up, finally noticing the route they were headed. “Where are we going?”

“To the mansion~!” the twins chimed in. “Mommy, Daddy said we’re moving to a bigger house.”

“Like this big!” Chacha stretched her hands as wide as if to show just how big their new house was. “And there were more people in there!”

“It’s a whole party in there!” Second mused. “Daddy’s friends are also there, trying to fix their lives too!”

Friends? Atlas have friends? No, he doesn’t.

“Is everyone trying to fix their lives?” Lola blurted out, only for Atlas to speak. This time, she looked at him, and the twins also turned their heads.

“The whole place is filled with people for security,” he clarified. “Everyone is there.”

The twins nodded excitedly, beaming at Lola. She nodded in understanding, ruffling their hair and then locking eyes with Atlas.

*****

In the past few days, Lola and Atlas had discussed moving into his place. His exact words were: “It was the safest place for them.” At least, they could sleep without worry, or they didn’t need to sleep with one eye open.

With what happened, Lola didn’t object. Besides, everything was free.

Lola expected that the place was exclusive and secure, considering how Atlas gave her details of the perks. She had slightly raised her expectations, knowing Atlas. However, despite raising her expectations, she realized just how limited her standards were.

With wide eyes, she stared at the wide gates opening for their vehicle. It was bigger than the Youngs’ or even the Lancasters’ gates. Ahead was a long driveway, a fountain in the middle, and then the massive residence.

I’ve seen mansions, as I lived in one. But compared to the Young Residence, this place is… luxurious.

Every corner of the place screamed the sound of the cash register. And being involved with construction, which also includes everything in it, her mind just automatically estimated this place’s costs.

This is probably the biggest lot in this place.

But aside from the stunning landscape in this wide lot, one thing stood out the most: the people. There were countless people around, with some of them just idling. She perked up a little, catching a group running laps on the east side of the lot.

Slowly, her mouth fell open, trying to count how many people were in this place. Her mind gave up before she could even start. What she realized, though, was that Atlas’s men covered at least a few meters of the lot. So someone trying to intrude on the place would surely be caught before they could even get into the residence.

This is more secure than the prime minister of Novera’s home.

Lola pursed her lips as she snuck a look at the twins and their father, who were indifferent to all this. Given that the twins grew up with a lot of people around and Atlas hiring all these people, their indifference was understandable.

“There are a lot of people here,” she commented, her voice light.

The twins and Atlas turned to her; the children just smiled while Atlas nodded.

“It’s safer here,” he said, and she responded in her head.

Too safe.

Her eyes then fell on the twins, and she smiled, nodding in relief. She ruffled Second’s hair, and looked back at Atlas.

“It is,” she said. “I feel more reassured.”

Having said that, the trio finally pulled over in front of the steps up to the grand mansion. As soon as Lola walked out of the car, Slater’s voice echoed.

“Sis~!” Slater dramatically ran to her, his arms wide for a hug.

Seeing him, Lola smiled and slowly raised her hand as well. Just when everyone thought she would accept his embrace, she moved her hand ahead and placed it on his chin, moving him out of the way.

“Eh?” Slater instinctively moved to the side, catching Lola walking past him and stopping in front of Penny.

“Big sister~!” Penny grinned. “Was the trip long from here to your office?”

Lola smiled. “No, it’s fine. It’s a good thing the office is located close to everything, so…”

As she continued, Lola walked alongside Penny while the twins quickly held their mother’s hands to follow. Atlas, on the other hand, just stood in the same spot and stared at Slater.

“…” Atlas blinked, watching his little brother slowly turn around to face him.

Slater pointed at himself, asking, “Did she just ignore me?”

“You visit her every single day,” said Atlas flatly. “Why would she miss you? Even I would ignore you.”

He then resumed his steps and walked past his brother. Zoren and Allen were just standing near the pillar of the residence’s entrance, watching Atlas take the steps up, when their eyes fell on Slater’s figure.

Allen tilted his head. “Is it just me? Or did Sir Atlas stay behind just to say that to him?”

“They’re both my brother-in-law and I do not want to hurt their feelings by answering that question,” Zoren responded plainly, giving Allen a short smile. “That’s First Brother’s job, and he’s been doing that perfectly for years without fail. You should ask him instead.”
