The Archangel of Death - Chapter 97
97: Two week training 97: Two week training Chapter 97 I was on my way to Michelle’s office when a more important notification appeared which made me change my direction from her office to my training room.
[Your party member Laura Ravenknight is now level 150] At last, Laura leveled up which also meant that she had broken through to C rank.
Her progress was extremely slow not to mention that it took almost a month for her to break through.
This just showed how low her talent was.
Using darkness to increase her strength was a good decision.
Fantastic even.
Even if she can’t break through to S rank, she will be able to become strong enough to contend against Divine-ranked beings on her own this way.
I opened the door to my training room and found her and Alicia chatting.
“Feeling okay?” I asked.
As soon as she saw me, she threw herself at me.
I caught her in my embrace and she replied, “Great now that you are here.” After a while of hugging and under the narrowed stare of Alicia, we had to end our hug.
She let go of me and said, “Alicia tells me it has been almost a month since I went for my breakthrough.” “Yes, it is.” I simply replied, keeping my observation of her talent to myself.
“For now, eat something,” I said as I pulled all sorts of things from my inventory.
She was happy to see everything and began eating.
Alicia joined her since what I pulled out was enough for ten people.
Rose didn’t leave the array but from a single glance, I could see that it was time to level up the intensity of the array.
The lightning wasn’t even making her frown anymore let alone wince in pain.
I made a mental note of everything to do and left the training room to go to my original destination, Michelle’s office.
I also had a favor to ask her.
===== “You want me to do what?” She incredulously asked as my favor was almost unreasonable.
“Is it not possible?” Still, I didn’t give her a chance.
If I agree that my favor was too demanding, I wouldn’t be getting anything out of this.
“No, it’s not.” She replied in a little louder than usual voice.
“Is that so?” I still remained oblivious, never giving her a chance.
“You are asking me to pardon you a leave for that long time even when you don’t have an impending breakthrough or anything important?” She asked loudly, frowning at me.
“It isn’t for no reason at all.
It’s to train and become strong.
Isn’t that what the academy is for?” I argued.
“Yes, that is what the academy is precisely for.
But what you are asking for has nothing to do with the academy.” She replied with annoyance laced in her every word.
[She has a point] ‘Whose side are you on?’ “Please do me this favor.
I would be eternally grateful to you.” I shamelessly replied.
In the first place what I was asking for was only unreasonable, not impossible.
It could be done with a head professor’s authority and Michelle could easily grant me one.
She just needed a little persuasion.
I let her cook for a while until she came to a decision, “Fine.
But know this.
You will majorly owe me one.” “I will majorly owe you one,” I replied, totally agreeing with her.
“Which means the next time a mission or several come, you will do them for free.” She elaborated.
“Very well,” I replied.
That reminds me, ‘Don’t I have a reward pending from this quest?’ [You dismissed it] ‘Oh yeah.
I was kinda disheartened by the whole level-up thing.’ [Want to receive it now?] ‘Let’s first get out of here.’ Michelle wrote me, Rose, Alicia, and Laura a leave of absence which stated that for the two remaining weeks, we could take the off time from classes before the test.
She also made sure to get across that she won’t be granting me another favor next time.
Not like this one anyway.
I thanked her and left.
Just as I came out, I checked the quest reward even though it was kinda late.
[Quest complete] [The will of the dead] [You have obtained 50 APs] [You have obtained 100,000 coins] [You have obtained the dagger of Desaant] Stat points and coins aside, the dagger was something I was curious about so I checked its description.
[Dagger of Desaant Rank: B+ The dagger that was left behind by the assassin of the middle era who crafted it himself from a fire wyvern’s tooth he himself hunted and then sharpened with the bones of his victims.
Effects: +100 attack +30 Agility 10% chance of a critical hit There is a random chance of the ‘Burn’ effect applying Limitations: Can only be used by the user] Wow.
The effects are something for a B+ rank item.
I mean, Rose’s dagger doesn’t have that many options even though it is of the same rank.
It is a bummer it is only limited to me otherwise I would have sold it after using it for some time.
Also, the other thing I was interested in was, ‘What’s my current critical hit rate?’ I had never delivered a critical hit before so I was a little curious about that.
[Without the dagger, 0%] ‘Why?
My luck is high enough.’ [Not enough] ‘How high does it need to be?’ [At least three hundred] My current luck was at 193 so even if I invest all the APs into it, it won’t get up to that point so I discarded it for later.
I pulled the dagger out which I would have to say was masterfully crafted so I doubted the description by the system that it was sharpened with the bones of people was true.
Its hilt was of dark black metal that I couldn’t identify.
There was a perfect melted attachment holding the hilt of the blade and the dagger part together.
The dagger itself was of blood red color.
There were inscriptions on the sharpened side indicating the inscription related to the burn effect.
Other than that, the dagger wasn’t that special.
I did feel lighter while holding it so that was a good increase in my agility as well.
Storing it back inside the inventory, I headed for the training room to resume my training with the girls.
No doubt they will be in a lot of pain for the coming two weeks but they will turn out to be better after that than they are right now.
===== “Listen up,” I said to gain the attention of the girls.
They stood in a line to hear the announcement I brought them today, “From today onwards until the test, almost two weeks, we will be training with all our might.” They didn’t say anything but their expressions became a bit wary at the mention of training.
Well except for Rose.
She was looking forward to this.
“We will only sleep for four hours.
One hour for eating, twenty minutes for each meal.
A personal time of one hour for bath and bathroom stuff.” I relayed the regime of our training for the next two weeks.
“That leaves us with eighteen hours of training.
Out of which, for one hour, I will train with Laura, who will then train on her own like how I will tell her.” Laura nodded at my plan and said nothing in return.
“Alicia and I will train for seven hours.
Six hours for element integration and one hour for physical training.” I detailed Alicia’s plan who also nodded and said nothing in return.
Laura made a face that relayed, ‘Why does she get more time than me?’ I didn’t bother to explain because she would soon understand.
“As for Rose, she will mostly train on her own but for two hours, we will do dagger practice.
Any objections?” Once I was done relaying all of my plans, I asked just to make sure.
There were no voices of complaints even though Laura looked like she had many but said nothing.
That will leave me with eight hours for which I will solely train all of my skills.
My leveling was out of the question since the C rank dungeons don’t do it for me anymore.
I need to hunt at least B- rank monsters.
Focusing on my skills was the best choice for now.
====== Can’t say I am satisfied with the grilling of these two weeks.
[Your party member Laura Ravenknight is now level 159] [Your party member Alicia Mon Grante is now level 172] [Your party member Rose Roosevelt is now level 234] Laura’s progress wasn’t very satisfying.
An increase of only nine levels out of which mostly was because of integration.
A clear testament of her low talent.
As for Alicia, I would say it was just all right.
She was mostly focused on fighting techniques than element integration so the resultant progress wasn’t that much apparent.
As for Rose, I took it slow myself.
I needed her to be at most level 249 before the third test.
There was still quite a bit of time before that.
Considering her talent, she would easily level up to that point before the test so I took it slow and taught her the most basic dagger art of my master.
Of course, for this world, that basic part was more than enough but even then, if she didn’t have the appropriate power to back it up, that was useless so I stopped after the basic techniques and let her focus on element integration.
As for myself, well, I wasn’t satisfied in my case either.
[High Heal LV: 5 (010,000)] [Celestial guard LV: 5 (010,000)] [Magic cannon LV: 5 (0100,000)] [Sacred blessing LV: 5 (010,000)] [Congratulations] [Skill ‘Decay’ has evolved to the next stage ‘Eclipse’] [Skill ‘Regeneration’ has evolved to the next stage ‘Moon Shift Vitality’] [Eclipse LV: 1 (0100)] [Moon Shift Vitality LV: 1 (0100)] The EXP requirement for the life branch skills wasn’t as uniform as I had first thought but increased drastically.
I needed to use all of them at least ten thousand times more to increase their level each and for magic canon, well, I won’t even say anything about that.
That’s why I didn’t level them up anymore and stopped at five for each.
Leveling up the skills would now take specialized timing.
I would need to focus on them separately.
As for Decay and regeneration, they evolved to the next stage so I stopped with them as well.
Nevertheless, the amount of coins I spent on MP recovery potions was quite a bit significant.
Almost a quarter of my current revenue was gone and my revenue of current coins was in billions.
Anyway, What I needed now was to level myself up because other than stats, my MP was too low for my skills as well.
After this test, I will be attempting the third level of the Penta enhancement array.
The good news was that, unlike the second step, I didn’t need enormous wealth for this one because I already had the prime ingredient for this step.
The bad news was that I didn’t have the necessary amount of death element required to purify that ingredient.
The dark mana crystal I obtained with the help of Allison from Monica.
The problem was that it wasn’t dark element but there was also mana in it.
To separate mana and dark element, I need a specific amount of death element to hold on to the dark element and push out the mana.
I could do it easily if I had mana but I’m not hardwired that way.
I can’t at the current level of death because even though I have taken almost a million lives, the single strand of death element hasn’t doubled yet.
So either I will have to somehow arrange a dark crystal on my own, multiply my death strand, or ask someone for help to whom I already owe two favors and that wasn’t a great thing.
The good thing was, she also owed me a favor but I was hoping to save it for something more important.
Something that doesn’t have another option, unlike this problem, that already has other solutions.
[Why don’t you rack your brain on it later?] [You’re going to be late] ‘Sure thing.’ “Come on.
Let’s go.” I asked the girls who were raring to go right now.
===== Today’s chapter is a little early because I have a class in the evening.
