96: Motivation down 96: Motivation down Chapter 96 Patience.

There is a great saying that patience is a skill, not a virtue.

They say correct.

I have also honed this skill through extensive battles, situations that would break anybody, and pain that would make one want to return to the almighty creator.

But even then, this is pushing it.

Just imagine.

You are in a tub of goo that is slimy as hell and not in a good way, doesn’t hurt but stings like a mosquito bite and smells more horrible than thirteen days old rotten cooked to the perfection fish.

Human psychology is that a person can handle a fall and stand up but lose his patience under the constant buzzing of the mosquito that doesn’t even hurt much.

Same here.

After being surrounded by these slimes for four hours, the skill of patience that I honed through hundreds of thousands of years old several lives, became useless.

[Magic bullet] I broke the magic canon because it would have been inefficient for all the slimes and blasted them away.

Doing this doesn’t get me experience for ‘Magic Canon’ though.

Anyway, my regeneration skill didn’t level up a lot.

First, the damage delivered by the slimes wasn’t enough.

It would take them at least ten minutes to deliver enough damage to repair just once using the regeneration skill.

In other words, it was inefficient.

So I killed all the slimes on this floor that were only about a hundred and moved up to the second one.

Here, I had some luck but even then, after four hours and not a lot of progress, I killed all of the slimes that weren’t even above seventy.

The last floor earned me a lot of EXP in terms of the regeneration EXP and level EXP but the number of slimes here was just twenty-three.

A clear disappointment.

[Regeneration (advanced) LV: 7(34387000)] [You have gained 31,180,000 EXP] [You have gained 1,930,000 coins] [You have gained 98 C- rank slime cores] [You have gained 72 C rank slime cores] [You have gained 23 C+ rank slime cores] I didn’t even level up.

The biggest disappointment after bearing the irritating rash of the acid and sickening smell of these slimes, I didn’t even level up by once.

[Why not try a B rank dungeon next?] ‘It seems like I will have to.’ It was very inefficient to level up like this now.

My level was so high that I needed a new hunting ground to level up.

This small dungeon wouldn’t help anymore.

The problem was that there was no public dungeon above B rank in Bellator City.

I asked Michelle about it and she said that once I advanced to the second year and also advanced to B rank, only then can I visit those dungeons.

[But don’t you have a B rank dungeon of your own now?] ‘I do but going there would take a long time.’ The dungeon Allison was referring to was the hidden dungeon in the new city I had just acquired through the Vermillion family-the cursed city of Caligulas.

The entire land was cursed for some unknown reason for centuries.

The total population of the city was about a thousand even though the land size was almost the size of double Seoul.

Of course, the city didn’t span the entire land but that was the size of the cursed land that came into the city territory.

It is not an opportunity for Eric but a defeat, not only for him but almost all humanity because the dungeon that exists there is not an opportunity but a misfortune.

A Lich’s lair.

The Lich originally belonged to an organization and when it was time for death, he became a Lich and when he was hunted for that, he ran and hid himself in a dungeon which he then later transformed into his lab and created an army of the undead.

The usual B.S.

Anyway, the reason I can’t go there right now is because there is no teleportation circle there right now.

I had asked old man Vermillion to build one there so that once my vacation starts, I can go there immediately and begin the various projects I have in mind.

The problem was that it would still take a month for the teleportation circle to be constructed not to mention that I would owe the Vermillion family a sh*t ton of money after its completion.

The cusp of all of this lengthy explanation is, ‘I have to make do with what I have right now.’ Which would be this dungeon boss who I am currently hoping is the same one as before.

Unfortunately, my luck has been dogsh*t ever since I came to this world.

The slime boss was normal.

A little stronger than a C+ slime.

The reason was that it hadn’t absorbed any slimes yet to increase its power which also means that the drops of this thing would be pathetic.

[Magic canon] I wasn’t in the mood to train any more skills so I simply shot a magic canon and killed it on the spot.

[You have gained 1,000,000 EXP] [You have gained 10,000 coins] [You have gained 5 C+ rank slime cores] [You have gained slime juice x3] As expected, I didn’t get much.

Even the drop rate was pathetic let alone the EXP which wasn’t even a gallon in the current ocean of EXP required.

At this speed, it would take me several months just to level up once if I go with the C rank dungeons.

Losing all motivation, I came out of the dungeon to receive the rest of my payment.

Unfortunately, seeing that I had come out of the dungeon after eight hours, the dungeon master seemed to have taken me as a pushover and decided to rip me off.

But like I said, I wasn’t in a very good mood after losing all my motivation, I ripped a few of his nails and hair after plucking a few of his teeth and took the money I was owed along with compensation for the session.

I wasn’t coming back here anytime soon anyway.

I had enough slime cores for my dress company now.

I headed straight for the training room and checked on the girls after which I headed straight home and snuggled into my bed and went to sleep.

===== “Good morning.” Layla greeted me as soon as I sat down on my chair.

Her greeting me like this attracted the attention of the entire class as they turned to look at me.

“Good morning,” I replied regardless because I didn’t care much about the looks they were giving me.

“You have some time?” Layla asked, cutting straight to the chase.

“Sure,” I replied.

She smiled and sat on Rose’s seat while saying, “I can’t understand these parts.

Can you help me with that?” I saw the theory she was talking about and I nodded.

Before I began to explain she asked, “Is it difficult?” “No.

it’s actually very easy.” I replied.

“See.

I knew you would say that.

Sophien made it sound so difficult.” She replied.

“Maybe Sophien said it keeping your capability in mind.” I joked which she wasn’t so pleased about as she stared at me with narrowed eyes and sternly asked, “Are you saying….

I’m an idiot?” “Well, not idiot per se, but intellectually challenged would be a good term,” I replied which was a technical insult carrying the same meaning as an idiot but Layla was intellectually challenged as she didn’t understand what it meant.

“Is that so?

Anyway, just please explain it to me.

I can’t understand any of it.” She begged exaggeratingly and I chuckled at her childish actions.

Still, I explained it all to her.

“Consider this, we have two things.

One that transfers all of the mana put into it, and a second one, that doesn’t transfer any of the mana input into it.

So what will we do if we want to control the mana output?” I explained in simple terms and then asked.

“I don’t know.

Combine them maybe?” She replied somewhat unsure but she wasn’t too far from it.

“Exactly.

We combine them according to the mana we want to control.

Say if we want 80% output, then we would mix 80% of the first material and 20% of the second material.

Similarly, if we want only 10% output, then we mix the materials accordingly.” She listened with great attention and after making sure she understood this, I came to the mana side.

“Now all you have to do is change the material with a circuit.

Construct two circuits, one that transfers all of mana and one that doesn’t.

Then change their concentration level by controlling the mana input and interlocking them that way, and there you have it, a controlled circuit.” “That is how you decide how much mana input you need to control the intensity of your skill.

For example, a fireball can be the size of a grape if you limit the mana but it is still a fireball just the intensity is lowered.” I explained in as simple terms as I could and she nodded.

She replied and then asked, “I get that but when I try to do with my skills, I can’t succeed.

Isn’t there a way to put this theory to practical use a little easier?” Hmmm… I couldn’t help her there.

I mean I was no expert in mana in the first place so there was no way to put that theory into practice.

I could, however, point her to the person who could.

“I’m not that good when it comes to practical practice but try Sophien.

I have a feeling that even though it isn’t her element, she would be able to give you appropriate advice.

And if that doesn’t work, then try Desmond.

You may not know it but Desmond is the strongest in terms of talent when it comes to the Bellator Academy.

Even greater than the current headmaster.” I wasn’t speaking out of my a*s.

Desmond was the strongest character in the novel.

He was also the future headmaster of the Bellator after the current headmaster’s incident.

As for why Sophien?

Well, although Sophien was cold and stuck up, her talent couldn’t be ignored.

She was this strong even though most of her focus was on research.

She wasn’t Rose but she was fairly talented by my standards.

Layla nodded and stood up, “Thanks.

I will try what you said myself and if I can’t, then I will seek Sophien’s help.” I nodded with a smile and she left.

The class finally started and Desmond explained some new things regarding dungeons and gates that were useless pieces of information for me so I only kept my eyes open and mind closed during the class.

Michelle’s lecture was also uneventful.

However, just before her class ended, Desmond entered the class and announced, “I have an announcement to make regarding the second test.” As soon as he mentioned the second test and announcement, everyone stopped whatever they were doing and sat back in their seats.

Seeing that we were all attentive, he began, “The second test is also an artifact test of inheritance.

However, unlike the first test, this one would be a team test.

Two teams of twenty-five students divided up equally.

The division can be made by students so you have two weeks to carefully plan and choose what team to make and who would be the leader of each team.” He stopped to let the information sink in and continued after a short break, “The scenario will be revealed on the test day.

Any questions?” I immediately raised my hand and asked, “Are there team points?” In other words, I could officially be in a team but do whatever I want after the test starts.

“Yes.

If you act separately, it will be counted and your individual points will be lowered.” Desmond replied in detail which was enough for me.

This means solo play was out of the question.

I again raised my hand and asked, “Would there be extra points for a leader?” Was becoming a leader fruitful?

Or was it just a waste of breath?

“Yes.

Leaders get ten extra individual points than everyone else.

You need 50 points which would amount to a C grade to pass.

Similarly, the SS grade would be 100 points.

How you obtain points will be revealed on the day of the test.” I had no more questions after this and when no one else asked any more questions, we were done.

Leaving the class, my next destination was Michelle’s office to receive my full payment.
