89: Training Alicia 89: Training Alicia There have been many new supporters but I haven’t been able to welcome them for quite a while.

I hope all those who are new to my novel enjoy it and keep supporting me.

That’s it.

Enjoy!

===== Chapter 89 [61%] [The element of life has been enhanced and evolved by 61%] [Element insufficient] [Integration not possible] Damn.

I was really hoping it would at least double up.

[And now that it didn’t?] ‘Then there is only one thing I can really do.’ Yep.

Back to the tedious training of skills.

I really wanted to focus on this one while I am still very low in strength for the sake of efficiency but it seems I will have to change my plans.

Again.

Standing up and noticing no massive change in my body, I checked the time and it had only been a little less than an hour since I started training.

Just as I was about to leave, I was welcomed with a notification.

[Congratulations] [Your party member ‘Alicia Mon Grante’ is now level 157] Turning to Alicia, I could see her slowly opening her eyes.

She didn’t seem tired at all.

On the contrary, she looked fresh, and not only fresh, she seemed a little brighter.

Her level also didn’t only increase to 150 but to 157 which was a good thing.

“How are you feeling?” Was the first thing I asked while she was still taking in her surroundings.

“Amazing.” She subconsciously answered.

Her progress was good but I wasn’t really that much satisfied with it.

Her progress was on the mana side but I wanted her to equally fare in terms of physical strength as well.

“I see,” I answered and extended my hand which she took to stand up.

I took her to a bench and sat her down while pulling all sorts of delicacies out of my inventory.

“Here.” I said, giving her the dishes, “Have something to eat.” “Thanks.” She replied with a smile and began eating while I measured up the changes inside of her.

She wasn’t just looking bright; she was becoming bright.

She was becoming light itself.

But she was far from that stage yet so I stopped here.

This was barely noticeable.

Just her appearance had brightened up a bit.

From the inside, she was a really long way away from becoming light.

Noticing this, my head automatically turned to Rose to actually realize what a monster she was.

‘Even Alex wasn’t that much of a genius.’ I thought inwardly.

I remembered a boy I took in as a disciple in one of the fragments.

He was a talent and coming from me, that meant a lot.

He was a rare talent whose talent got in his way.

Best of both worlds.

Aura and mana.

However, because his feeble body couldn’t handle all that, he was on the verge of explosion, and using anything only quickened that process.

When I made him the strongest being in that world in just five years, it was mostly because of his talent.

However, looking at Rose, even Alex paled in comparison.

Anyway, I turned my attention back to Alicia.

She needed more physical training because once she fully became light, she would be mostly a long-range fighter.

She needed training to cover that weakness in case someone decided to get rid of her first.

“Once you’re done eating, we will begin,” I said after some more analysis.

“Begin what?” She asked, while cutely chewing her food.

I only smiled and said nothing.

If Rose was not busy, she would have definitely been able to tell what this smile truly meant.

====== “That’s it?” I asked when I saw Alicia sprawled on the floor, disregarding her earlier mannerisms and just lying there with her arms and legs wide open.

‘Yeah, that sounds wrong.’ “I can’t….

I cannot do this….

anymore.” She replied between heavy breaths.

Seriously.

What would I do with these guys?

They can’t even bear the basic exercises.

I worry for the future with a long extended sigh for a dramatic addition.

[Basic?] ‘Yep.’ I purchased a stamina potion and moved closer to her.

“Fine.

You can take a short break.” I said while feeding her the potion.

She drank the potion and regained her energy.

I let her be there for a while and moved closer to Laura in the corner to check her progress.

Laura’s talent was too low compared to Alicia so if Alicia’s breakthrough was this long, I can only imagine how long it would take Laura to get over this.

Measuring her changes, they were also more on the mana side with rarely any change in her physical strength.

Figures.

She was a mana-blessed after all.

I was the one who was turning her into a physical combatant.

But seeing that she has the element of darkness inside of her, it won’t be that hard of a task.

I let go of her and returned to Alicia who was looking okay now so I began.

“Now that I have shown you the exercises you will be doing, let’s do some hand-to-hand combat training.” She heard me calmly and then calmly replied, “I need to focus on my magic training.

I will be leaving now.” She calmly stood up and turned to leave but I grabbed her by her collar from behind.

“Please let me go.

I can’t go through that again.” She pitifully said but I wasn’t having any of it.

I simply smiled and picked her up by her collar from the back and threw her away from the door.

Sometimes, to kick start fighting instincts, you have to beat them up even if you love them.

“I have one simple instruction for you, Alicia,” I said while Alicia was trying to get up.

She turned to look at me while she was still down on all fours so I continued, “Dodge.” ===== “Wrong!!!” I shouted and delivered a hit to Alicia’s stomach.

I made sure to hold back afraid of damaging her too badly.

But considering her physical stats, even my holding back was painful enough for her to stay on the floor for a while.

The problem here was very simple.

Her gauntlet training was getting in the way.

Whenever I hit her, instead of dodging, she would fight back and she hadn’t even been able to hit me for two days.

Of course, I hadn’t missed a single time as well.

This meant I had thrashed her for two days straight except for the time when I was in the class or she was sleeping or exercising.

I asked her to keep skipping classes.

The academy didn’t know she was finished with her breakthrough so there was no problem anyway.

“Say Alicia, how many years have you been practicing with the gauntlets?” I asked Alicia.

She was still on the floor, clutching her stomach where I hit her.

The reason I asked was that even though her stats are pitiful, her form was amazing and perfect so her training wouldn’t have been half-assed and it wouldn’t have been for a few months.

“Seven years.” She replied.

I was amazed.

Seven years of training and her attack power was just this much.

Why the hell didn’t she give up sooner if it was this useless?

“You do know you are pathetic in that term, right?” I asked bluntly.

[Smooth] Alicia didn’t reply which meant even she was aware of this fact and had no answer to refute that statement.

“Why do you train then?” I asked next, seeing that she had no answer.

Once again, she didn’t reply but this time she had an answer so I pressed on.

“You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to,” I said, saying completely opposite of what I wanted.

She hesitated at my words.

“It’s not that I don’t want to tell you.

It’s just that I don’t know how to.” She replied.

I knelt in front of her.

She had also straightened up but remained on the floor.

“You just have to say it like you trust me,” I said with a smile.

She smiled in return and simply said, “It was my mother’s technique.” That was all the explanation I needed.

[It seems you will have to change your plans again] ‘How would you know?’ [You were planning on making her an archer, weren’t you?] I had no answer to that.

I was planning on making her an archer.

If trained right and given the right techniques, even a noob could become great at that.

Besides, her having the light element would enhance the effects, range, and damage of arrow attacks.

The problem was, even if her talent was somewhat decent, it was only enough to learn one of my downplayed techniques.

Teaching her two would be a waste of time.

I doubt she would be able to show any talent in that regard.

Seeing no other choice, I decided to give up on archery for now and teach her gauntlet fighting.

But even for that, she would need extensive physical training and dodging.

So the training menu didn’t change much.

It only increased by a few levels.

“Very well then.” I spoke as I stood up while making her stand up with me, “If you show the right will, I will make you the strongest gauntlet fighter that even the apostle training with gauntlets would be left far behind.” I encouraged her, referring to Zefton.

She smiled and nodded.

However, that smile faded the next moment when I said, “But for that, the training will increase by a lot and you still have to dodge.” She was about to say something in return when my fist launched at her again.

I will make sure to not hit her in the face.

==== “Don’t look at my fist.

Keep your eyes on mine.

My eyes will tell you where I will hit you next.” I said as I once again struck Alicia in her stomach.

She hadn’t gotten over her urge to fight back and hadn’t dodged even once.

She was, however, making another fatal mistake.

Follow my movements.

First of all, given her stats, she can’t follow my attacks with her eyes, and following them with her senses is impossible because she hasn’t developed any yet.

And second, how the hell does she think she can follow my movements by looking at my fists?

Not me, but when an average fighter tends to attack, he or she would definitely or subconsciously look at the spot where they are about to hit before delivering a strike.

She should know that since she had trained in close combat.

Who the hell trained her?

For her sake, I was even doing such an amateurish thing but even then, she wouldn’t keep her eyes on mine but try to follow my movements which was an even more amateurish mistake to make.

She didn’t reply as she was clutching her stomach but she knew that I was right.

I waited until she got over to it.

She turned to me while still on the floor and asked, “Isn’t there an easier method to do this?” “Of course there is.

Making a deal with a demon will make you an expert overnight in exchange for your soul.

Want to try?” I told her the easiest and fastest method.

Of course, I wasn’t talking about the demons of this world but the true demons of hell but that is a story for some other time.

She didn’t reply and just stood up.

Seeing that it wasn’t working, I decided to go with another approach.

“Tell you what, if you dodged me ten times, I will do whatever you want.

Of course, it has to be within certain limits.” I decided to offer her this incentive.

This worked best in many scenarios.

She contemplated my words and a twinkle passed through her eyes that for some reason, made me uncomfortable.

Still, the words had left my mouth and she seemed somewhat motivated, so I just decided to go with the flow.

“Okay.” She replied, raising her fists up to her forehead.

It seemed like she was planning to attack but what she really wanted to do was block.

This was also a good approach.

Sometimes, to dodge, one has to learn the pattern.

Two ways to do that.

Either learn with your body or block it until you are confident enough to have familiarized yourself with your opponent’s attacks.

“Very well.” I also prepared myself.

Just because she was motivated, it would be very difficult for her to dodge.

Just this ten times dodging would be harder than getting through a dungeon alone for her.
