88: Enhancing the Life Element 88: Enhancing the Life Element Chapter 88 My ears are itching.

[Let me guess] [Someone’s thinking about you] ‘You forgot to mention, ‘I hope it’s a hot woman’.’ [I hope you know you are playing a dangerous game] ‘As dangerous as it gets.’ “So, what have you got for me?” I asked Balder who was staring at me solemnly for a while now.

“Nothing new.

The war is still silent.

They are only disrupting each other’s businesses for now.” He replied.

“I hope no innocents are getting involved,” I remarked.

“Do you think those who handle their businesses would be innocents?” He sarcastically remarked in return.

“Touché.” I said and then asked, “Then why are you looking at me like I am an ugly farmer’s beautiful wife?” “You flatter yourself.

And I cannot make a judgment with that mask on.” He replied.

But before I could retort back, he continued, “I’m just wondering what kind of monster you are.” “A handsome one I believe,” I replied.

“A cunning one, I believe.” He replied, pressing on ‘I’.

“A little.” I didn’t defend myself since I was one hell of a cunning man.

“They are moving as you had predicted.

The nobles behind them are also pressing them.

The Wild Turtles are cornered.

It won’t be long before they resort to a full-fledged war as a desperate measure.” He informed me of the statistics of my little side project.

I smirked and pushed a large amount of gold that was recently delivered to me by the Vermillion family as sales and said, “I hope this much would be enough for a large-scale evacuation.” He gave a cursory glance to the gold and replied, “Half.

You need the same amount more to deploy the full services of the mercenary guild.” I figured.

One thing about Balder is sure that he doesn’t try to rip me off so if he is saying this isn’t enough, then it isn’t enough.

And a large-scale evacuation of the by-standing civilians is something I want but it is a big task that Balder can’t handle alone.

The entire mercenary guild would have to be hired for that and it is my luck that they are only charging a million gold for that.

“I will try to get the rest by the weekend,” I said and stood up to leave.

He didn’t bother to move and just collected the gold coins on the table.

“You do know that a relationship is built on trust.” But Balder’s words interrupted me and I halted my steps.

I chuckled, “We are not at that stage yet.” I replied.

“Really?

Because I thought starting a war and almost another one was enough for us to acquaint ourselves properly.” He replied sarcastically.

I know Balder is insecure about being embroiled in my games.

Mercenary guild is good but I am not the only one who knows that.

The powers at work aren’t stupid either so sooner or later, they would figure it out.

Balder had no doubt that the mercenary guild would sell him at that moment to save their own necks.

He needed to know whether this relationship of ours was simply built on money or beyond that because soon, he would need a friend to turn to when things got difficult.

“You are absolutely correct.

So l will begin as a gesture of goodwill.” I replied and simply handed him a piece of paper.

He was skeptical because that wasn’t what he was expecting but when he read it, his eyes went wide.

“You…” He was speechless, and couldn’t say anything.

He didn’t know what to say.

“Now it is your turn, Balder,” I said and stood up to leave for sure this time.

This time he didn’t stop me given how shocked he was.

===== I left the mercenary guild and straight away went to the Vermillion estate.

I can only hope that the old man Vermillion hasn’t left yet.

If he has, then my company initiation would be pushed forward for a while.

“Grandfather left today,” Sophien informed me with a smile that still stunned me for a second even though I was seeing it for the third time.

“What do you need him for?” She asked next when she saw the disappointed expression on my face.

“I wanted to show him the merchandise that I plan to launch for my business,” I informed her since I didn’t see any harm in withholding this information.

“You mean our business.

Right, Adrian?” She asked with a sweet and innocent smile that didn’t stun me this time.

Yeah.

That beautiful smile won’t last for long if she keeps getting on my nerves like that.

“Then I must say your contribution to our business has been nothing but useless,” I replied with the same kind of smile but unfortunately, I failed to remove that annoying smile from her face.

“How can I interfere when a genius such as yourself is personally handling it.” She replied with the same smile.

Fine.

I lose.

I can’t just bash her face so I will admit defeat before I do.

“Since he isn’t here, I will get going.” I informed her before getting up but was interrupted when she said, “What is the hurry, honey?

You haven’t even talked to me yet.

You are not getting bored of me are you?” My left eye flinched at her sweet and playful words.

“Okay,” I started before I continued, “I think you need to know that if such a thing is said by a beauty like you, you are just fanning the fire inside of a man very badly.” I made sure to relay that she was playing a very dangerous game.

“Oh?

What are you going to do to me?

I am curious.” She sensually spoke in a low and soft tone that fanned the fire even more.

If something was controlling me, then it would be Rachel with her drawn sword in the background.

These vixens.

I will get back to them for sure.

“It seems I have wasted my time coming here.

I will let you get back to work.” I said and turned around to leave.

“Wouldn’t you show me?

The merchandise.” She once again interrupted my leave.

However, this time it was for a good reason so I didn’t mind.

Also, there was now a way to get back at her.

“Of course,” I replied with the same sweet smile that for some reason, made her shiver.

What?

She can smile but I can’t?

Talk about Injustice.

‘Buy it.’ I pulled out a box from my inventory that surprised both of the girls a little and said, “Although this is what I intend to sell, I think Lady Vermillion would be uncomfortable to wear this.” I slid the box on the table in front of me and she took it.

She was curious about the contents of the box so she opened them in front of me.

Inside was a simple piece of clothing that every girl wears.

Only this one was a little, how should I put it, risqué?

She froze when she pulled the pink garment out of the box, completely stunned at the see-through nightie.

She was speechless when I garnered her attention, “I told you, didn’t I?

You wouldn’t wear it.

But if you want to try it, I would like to see how our product is faring in a woman’s opinion.” She slowly turned red as she looked at the nightie.

I could tell that she was thinking how she would look in it and it made her embarrassed rather than angry.

And the fact that she wasn’t angry, made her angry.

“You!!!” She seethed with a crimson face.

I innocently asked, “Is there a matter?” “GET OUT!!!!!!!!” A loud voice that would have torn my eardrums if my stats were on the low side.

I smirked and simply stood up to leave.

Not before annoying her a little more though, “Have fun.” Mana began to coagulate around her which was my cue to leave so I ran straight for the main door.

====== It’s a pity that old man Vermillion wasn’t there but I’m sure once he hears that I was looking for him, he will contact me somehow soon.

In the meantime, I instructed the team to make more dresses.

Since the first one was a trial version, I instructed the mages to cast an auto-fitting array on the dresses too.

This way, we don’t have to worry about the proportions of different sizes.

Magic surely is convenient.

Anyway, now that I was done with almost everything, I returned to my personal training room to see Rose sitting in the array with her teeth tightly gritted and her fists tightly clenched.

I had increased the electrical level by one.

I was skeptical at first that she wouldn’t be able to take it but she took it like a champ.

Although she is in pain, it isn’t to the point she can’t bear it.

Naturally, her progress had increased as well.

The other two were still undergoing their breakthrough but since Allison had personally assured me that they were all right, I decided to focus on my own training.

Not the skill training but the elemental training.

Just like the girls, I also needed to integrate the elements with my body completely.

The problem would arise when I would have to make them coexist.

If I just have to keep them in my abdomen, I can focus on keeping them in harmony no matter what because of my practice of thousands of years.

But doing so in the flesh is a different story.

In the abdomen, they are stationary and I can control them if somehow a conflict arises, however, once they are integrated into my body, which element would achieve the upper hand was a different story because then both of them would be in constant circulation like blood.

Even for me, it is very, very difficult to track that part.

So what I intend to do is to line them up next to each other and isolate both of them at the same time like a wire.

Both different and opposite nature wires would perform in perfect harmony and do what they are supposed to do, empower me.

Because they are just lying dormant in my abdomen and supporting skills, they have no effects on stats points but since I would need stat points because of the stat limit, I have decided to go with this method.

I would have never done this unless I needed it absolutely.

I have attempted this method before just once in another fragment.

It was a rushed process and the effects were disastrous.

If I didn’t need to absolutely do this, I wouldn’t have attempted this because it ended up killing me.

Although I can’t die, once I die in a fragment, I can never go there ever again so I try to avoid death usually.

Now, how do I intend to tackle this issue?

The answer was given to me during this mission when the spatial rupture occurred.

The distortion occurred because of Eric and I intended to use this fact to cut myself a deal.

That deal is how I will control the element of death.

As for life, I will have to do that myself.

Hence why my main focus from now on would be life until the tournament.

And to achieve that, I have this.

[You have changed a lot of fates] [You have succeeded in figuring out a hidden piece] [You have protected the world laws] [Rewards will be given] [Would you like to receive the rewards?] ‘Yes.’ As soon as I said yes, a warm current passed over me entirely.

[Your level has increased by 12] [You are now level 184] The difference between the level up from saving lives and death is entirely different.

Leveling up from killing feels like someone is combining power inside me forcefully while leveling from saving lives feels like soaking myself in a tub of hot water.

‘Yeah.

Not the best example.’ Anyway, that wasn’t the main attraction that I gained.

That was just from saving lives.

The real reward was this.

[You have changed the fates of 37 people] [Calculating birth influx] [Number of lives affected 133311927] [You have been awarded Life Essence] Just as the notification passed, the light element inside my abdomen began trembling at a fast pace.

[Warning] [Light particles at critical] [INT stat sufficient] [Light element suppressed] [Evolving] [10%…

31%…

54%….] […] [.] CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Bad_Wolf_7811 Your gift is the motivation for my creation.
