The Archangel of Death - Chapter 85
85: Spirit manifestation 85: Spirit manifestation Chapter 85 “Kghh…” I braced myself as a strong earthquake shook the surroundings around me while I was running to the place where Eric and the rest were.
It was a mistake sending Eric there which I realized after completely figuring out the grudge of the painting.
[Why?] ‘Because Eric is a cheater.’ [He is?] ‘Not right now but he was in his past life.
He cheated on Sera.’ [With whom?] ‘Rose.’ [That’s some drama] ‘Yeah.’ And it never came to pass because in the novel, Eric and the party didn’t get to the bottom of this in the first place.
They simply found the evidence that pointed to Vincent for the murder of his wife and the case was closed.
[But you sent a cheater to a ghost who slices and dices cheaters] ‘Yep.’ Just as I replied, another powerful, stronger shock passed through the entire ground.
But this time, it wasn’t just the earth, the sky was shaking too.
Looking above, I saw the sky splitting into two like someone had cut it with an incision knife.
It was a tear that seemed like glass was being smashed.
In the middle of that tear, nothing could be seen.
Although I could see darkness, there wasn’t anything in there.
Not even darkness.
[If I’m not mistaken that’s……] ‘A spatial disintegration.’ The dimension was collapsing on itself.
[But how is that possible?] ‘Because Eric is dying.’ I replied while increasing my speed to the maximum.
The distance to my destination seemed longer than it was under all this tension.
[I don’t understand] [How can a single being be so connected to this?] ‘He isn’t.
He is connected to something that is connected to the stability preventing the collapse of an entire reality.’ [What?] ‘The world laws.’ [What?] ‘The system that Eric possesses.
It isn’t provided by the world’s laws.
It is the law itself.’ ===== Asmara, seeing no other choice, put her entire strength into moving the table she was trapped underneath to somehow escape but even after expending all her effort, she couldn’t do anything.
The same went for Zefton.
‘We need someone with long-ranged attacks.’ She thought inwardly.
Just then, a light bulb turned on inside her head.
“Layla!” She shouted to get Layla’s attention who herself was trying to move the chair on her with her strength.
Asmara’s shout garnered her attention as expected and Asmara said, “Use your ice blessing.
Try and freeze her.” Layla realized how stupid she was being in the moment of crisis.
She was a mage blessed not a physical one.
She had to use that.
So realizing her mistake, she hurriedly pointed her open palm at the spirit.
A number of ice crystals left her palm but unfortunately, they passed through the spirit.
Meanwhile, the cut that was slowly appearing on Eric’s wrist was almost halfway through and still going slowly and painfully.
Seeing that her attack didn’t work, Layla turned to Asmara for further directions because she was zero at using her brain.
Asmara also saw that Layla’s attacks hadn’t worked so she thought of another method.
“Freeze the furniture on top of us.
First Zefton.” Layla didn’t hesitate and did just that.
Zefton was the only one with the strongest physical capabilities among all of them, so freeing him first and foremost was the most logical decision.
Layla’s open palm extended above Zefton and froze the heavy sofa on top of him.
The freeze was applied down to the last molecules of the wood and Zefton, knowing what to do hurriedly struck his fist and broke the furniture.
He stood up and was about to go help Eric when Asmara interrupted him.
“Don’t.
Free us first.” This was one of the rare times when Zefton didn’t object to being ordered and hurriedly lifted the chair on top of Layla who had just finished freezing it.
Zefton freed Layla and then they both freed Asmara.
“What do we do now?” Layla asked Asmara once they were freed.
“I have no idea but let’s just try to use your divinity.” Asmara proposed.
She wasn’t an apostle or a saint nor was she blessed by a god or goddess so she couldn’t use divinity.
But Zefton’s and Layla’s divinity was top class due to their status as apostle candidates.
Layla nodded and infused divinity in her ice crystals.
It began to glow and turned a little golden due to the golden color of the divine energy.
She shot the crystals at the spirit and to their utter delight, this experiment didn’t fail.
The ice crystals stuck the spirit that threw it across the room.
The strong wind stopped and the doors and windows opened by themselves.
Eric who was floating in the air also fell down.
Since none of them was a healer, the best they could do was stop the bleeding by wrapping Eric’s badly bleeding wrist with a cloth.
Just as they had rescued Eric, a few pieces in the direction where the spirit fell started moving.
They turned to look in that direction only to see the spirit standing again, not damaged in the least.
“What now?” Zefton quietly asked.
Asmara did some contemplation before she replied, “Although it doesn’t seem damaged, it was at least disrupted with the attack earlier.” Getting the go, Zefton surrounded his gauntlets with divinity and ran in the direction of the spirit.
The spirit of a little girl raised its hand and Zefton froze mid-way.
Just as Zefton was about to be thrown away again, another bout of ice crystals struck the spirit and it was once again disrupted although it didn’t move much from its spot like before.
Seeing the window of opportunity, Zefton again ran towards it and struck it in the face with his fist.
The attack was successful and the spirit was once again thrown to the corner of the room.
Zefton didn’t allow it a moment of rest and ran after it and pinned it down on the floor while mercilessly hitting it wherever he could with his gold-covered fists.
The rest only watched with bated breaths while Eric was starting to lose consciousness because of massive blood loss.
‘No something is wrong.’ Asmara thought inwardly.
While everyone else thought it was working, they had missed a piece of vital information.
The second time Layla attacked it with her ice crystals, there wasn’t much reaction from the spirit.
‘It’s getting used to it.’ She thought and then another thought crept into her mind, ‘Divinity?’ Just like mana, divinity was also an energy that wasn’t infinite.
Not only was the spirit getting used to it, they would soon run out of it as well.
“Zefton!
Stop and return!” She shouted but it was already too late.
Just as she finished, Zefton was thrown like a bullet to the other side of the room and broke through the walls of multiple rooms to end somewhere on the other side.
Layla was about to engage when Asmara stopped her.
“Don’t.
We don’t know what it is capable of.
Right now surviving is the priority.
Wait for Adrian.
He must know How to deal with it.” Layla didn’t argue and shouldered Eric along with Asmara and both of them headed out of the room.
They saw Zefton on the way who was trying to collect himself.
He was still disorientated when Asmara grabbed him by the arm and dragged him with them to the exit of the house.
Unfortunately, just as they had approached the main door, it slammed itself shut.
They turned to see the spirit of Sara standing in the hallway, staring at all of them.
“Hit it with your crystals.
Once she is distracted a little, we will run for the door.” Asmara instructed and Layla acted without waiting.
Unfortunately, this time, it didn’t work.
The crystals didn’t even shake the spirit let alone distract it for some time.
They were simply ineffective.
“Unfaithful.” Another word left the spirit’s mouth and once again, all of them were flung in different directions by some mysterious force.
This time, there was nothing atop them, they were simply being crushed under a mysterious force while being plastered to a wall.
Only Eric remained where he was.
He was still floating in the air held by a mysterious force from his neck.
Once again, the cut on his wrist slowly started to deepen and at the same time, earthquakes once again struck everything.
Eric’s hand was almost cut from his body when the spirit once again called him, “Unfaithful.” Only this time, there was a reply.
“He is, isn’t he?” Before it was grabbed by its shoulder by what seemed to be a hand and thrown like a toy to the other side of the room.
“But you know, infidelity at most leads to a divorce.
Not a death sentence.” The same light voice said once again while the owner of the voice grabbed Eric before he fell to the ground.
“High Heal.” Adrian applied heal swiftly on Eric’s wrist which attached itself back and then he applied it two more times to compensate for the blood loss.
The rest also fell on the floor.
Among them, since Zefton was in the direst situation with his head bleeding, Adrian applied another healing on him.
Once he was all right, he checked the conditions of both girls.
Since Asmara had a sturdier body, she was fine compared to Layla who had taken a strong impact on her body.
Adrian healed her as well and stood up, just in time for the spirit to appear before them again.
It blew them away once again but for some reason, Adrian was unaffected.
It looked at Adrian puzzled, tilting its neck.
“What?
Are you surprised it doesn’t work on me?” The spirit didn’t speak but the way its eyes moved, it was expressing its curiosity.
“Well, you see.
That’s simple.
I am a superior being than you.” And then Adrian disappeared from its spot and once again grabbed the spirit by its arm and threw it to the other side of the hall.
The rest once again fell on the ground.
However, they were well this time.
“Gather around, everyone,” Adrian spoke and the rest didn’t hesitate.
“Those who use weapons, get them out.” Without saying anything else, Adrian grabbed Zefton’s hands and a glow appeared on his gauntlets.
He did the same to Asmara who had just drawn her sword.
“I can’t do it for you since you don’t use a weapon so use divinity instead.” He said to Layla before Adrian moved on to Eric and grabbed his sword.
At the same time, Eric received multiple notifications from his system.
[Blessing of the highest being had been granted to your weapon] [For the next hour, your weapon will deliver attacks stronger than when enchanted by divine energy] [Current power increase: 100%] Eric’s eyes widened to their limit when he saw the notification and its effect on it.
Even his divine power only enchants his sword by fifteen percent and never for this long.
“Now listen up everyone,” Adrian spoke once he was done with everyone.
“That over there is a spirit.
Spirits are creatures that need spiritual energy to survive.
Different kind of spiritual energy than the spiritual energy that is from the branch of life.” “Anyway, to compensate for that spiritual energy since it is not in this world, a spirit acts on its grudges.
Very strongly.
In this case, it would be killing adulterers.” Adrian explained everything in detail while everyone was puzzled as to why they weren’t heading out.
“But why is it after me?” Except for Eric of course.
“I haven’t done anything of the sort in my life.” “Not in this one you haven’t,” Adrian replied which puzzled everyone but before they could ask questions, Adrian continued.
“Now, spirits can be killed but it is impossible for me to do this at this stage.
So all I can do is send it back to the spirit world.” Eric flinched when Adrian mentioned the spirit world.
All of them were filled with questions but Adrian wasn’t allowing them to ask anything.
“Now go and attack it.
Your attacks should now work on it.
Keep it busy until I finish here.” Just as Adrian’s instructions finished, another voice was heard, “Unfaithful.” “Well, go on now,” Adrian said when he saw everyone hesitating.
