57: Warm welcome 57: Warm welcome I would like to address some issues before I begin.

A while back, a comment said that I didn’t explain the MC’s past well enough.

Well, that is because it is a story for the future.

Like how in ‘The Witcher’, two timelines collide, it’s the same here.

Two stories will collide in the future and one of them will be related to the MC’s past.

As for the system, there is a story behind it as well.

Besides, my idea of the system is that it isn’t like other support systems you might have read before but is more like a limiter because of the MC’s past.

I hope it clears up the questions that some of you might have.

That’s it.

Enjoy!

===== Chapter 57 [Integration in ten minutes thirteen seconds] Today, was a day of break, not for me but for everyone else.

I had respectfully asked for a leave which I was granted without any trouble because of my first rank.

The girls were off today and they were free to do whatever they wanted.

As for me, I would finally begin the final assimilation of the first step of the penta enhancement array.

Otherwise known as integration.

If during the absorption, the body breaks, then during integration, the body settles to its new changes.

Consider it like this, when a bone is misplaced and is mended, the bone would settle according to those new circumstances.

If it is settled properly, it will mend itself like that.

If it isn’t settled properly, it would mend it improperly like how it was treated.

You can often see people with misplaced bones.

This is the reason for that.

So today, my body was going to settle according to the new changes made to it.

Of course, the process comes with a lot of pain and unlike the earlier bone problem, there are no painkillers for this one.

[Integration will now begin] Kugh!!!!!

I could clearly feel all my muscles contracting and then expanding rapidly.

My chest, arms, and legs would shrivel like dried twigs and then fill up like an inflated balloon.  There was no variation in shriveling up but there were variations in filing up.

Sometimes, I was too much inflated, sometimes, just a specific part would inflate.

One time, my belly was the only part to inflate and I was horrified despite the soul-shredding pain.

Anything but a fat man.

Fat men aren’t popular.

[That’s what you’re worried about?] I didn’t have the energy to reply to Allison’s remark so I chose to ignore it and focused on bearing the pain.

The blessed part about integration was that it wasn’t very long.

Absorption was a long process but integration would only take a few hours so even though the pain made it feel like I was living, bearing it for decades, it only took three hours for the integration to complete.

Once it did, I didn’t bother to check my stats but first and foremost, chose to pass out.

===== Yawn!!

I yawned as I opened my eyes.

That was a good nap.

I needed that after that kind of pain.

“How long was I out for?” I asked out loud.

Since only I was here, there was no need to ask in my mind.

[Just an hour] I nodded and then checked my stats.

[STR: 172] [AGI: 172] This was the first improvement in almost two months.

For some reason, I wasn’t gaining Exp for good deeds.

I could guess but it wasn’t normal.

I should have gained at least a speck but I still wasn’t.

Anyway, now was the time for the next step.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough coins to buy the essence from the shop yet but I was sure I would after this weekend.

During the past month, I have been going to the auction every Sunday and selling potions of different types for good prices.

Of course, all of my wealth went down the drain after buying stuff.

Still, I think there would be no need after this weekend.

After that, I would lack nothing because one, I was near the mark of filling up my coins, and two, what I was going to sell this Sunday would be sold at a tremendous price never seen before.

Why?

Because of its nature.

I sold strength potions, agility potions, and then defense potions that weren’t so popular but were still sold for good prices.

Stamina potions were also just average in sales.

And since I had already given a health potion to Talisa for her troubles and mana potions to the Wild Turtles gang who were currently embroiled in a silent war with other gangs, there wasn’t any uniqueness left for them.

So that left me with options that might not be so much popular in this world.

There are many that might be, such as potions that could cure any and every disease and all.

But what I know for sure the potion that will sell for anything is the potion of mana concentration.

That is how it is named in the book so I won’t give it some fancy name.

Anyway, this is a kind of potion that halves a person’s mana expenditure.

That’s right.

I can’t take it but if I had mana, then I would only need half MP to cast heal instead of the usual.

Now, it is time to check the changes made to my body.

I slowly stood up despite the slight crackling of my bones.

I flexed my arms and warmed up a bit.

My muscles were a little more defined now.

I wouldn’t say buffed up but more on the lean side.

Not too thick, not too slim.

My abs were also a bit defined now but they weren’t exactly eight packs.

After admiring myself for a while, I checked the time and it was still some time in the noon.

Seeing that I had nothing to do and there was a break today, I decided to just sleep it off.

I thought of upgrading my skills but for some reason, I wanted to sleep like a log today so I did just that.

[Shouldn’t you be working hard?] ‘Let me raise my stats naturally and you will find me cutting my time on sleep to work hard.’ I quipped back.

[Sleep is important] [Go to sleep] Heh!

====== I woke up feeling refreshed and feeling the sun on my face through the window.

Since the sun was on that side, it meant that it was the next day.

I stood up and checked the time.

There was still about an hour before the sandglass renewed itself so that left me with an hour until eight when the classes begin.

I readied myself and when I opened the door, I found Alicia standing in front of it, all ready to leave.

“Morning.” I greeted and she greeted me back with a smile, “Good morning to you too.” Alicia was doing good in her training recently.

She could now stab me without much hesitation.

Of course, I wouldn’t say she was an ice-cold killa but it would be safe to say that her hesitation has dimmed down quite a bit.

“Good morning, Your Highness.” A maid came to greet me but she didn’t have a message for me as she turned to Alicia and said, “Your Ladyship, His Lordship, the first elder is requesting to have breakfast with you.” I don’t get why they bother with so many titles.

Can’t she say your grandpa wants to see you?

“Grandfather is here?” Alicia asked, surprise written all over her face.

“When?” she asked again.

“He just arrived a few moments ago.

He was freshening up and asked me to get you.” The maid replied.

“I… I see.” Alicia replied and glanced at me.

I knew what she was worried about.

But there was no avoiding it.

“Is there someone else with him?” Alicia asked to which the maid replied, “Some officials.

They have come here on business as far as I have heard.” Business?

Something came to mind when she said business.

But I could be wrong.

“Why don’t you go see him and I will fetch Rose,” I suggested to which Alicia nodded and left with the maid.

I also headed to Rose’s room and knocked on her door.

She opened the door fully dressed in her uniform like she was just about to leave.

“Your Highness.” She hurriedly bowed when she saw that I was at the door.

She was also very much surprised.

After all, what prince would themselves come to their attendant’s room?

“Let’s go.

The first elder is here.” I simply said but from the looks of it, even she was a little worried.

Why does everyone think he will try to kill me?

[Hmmm~~~?] [Now why would he try to kill you?] ‘Shut up.’ I replied to Allison’s sarcastic remark.

I admit that he might still hold some grudges.

[Some?] Okay, a lot of grudges but that doesn’t mean he can take it out on me whenever he wants.

We both entered the dining room to find the grand elder sitting in my seat.

My seat!

There are more chairs in the room dude, sit on them.

He’s definitely trying to get it out on me.

Still, I settled down in one of the other chairs without greeting him.

“Ahem!” He coughed.

I guess he is trying to signal me something so I did what was appropriate to the situation.

“Ahem!” I coughed in return.

Alicia was visibly awkward while the first elder was visibly irritated so I decided to let it go.

“Oh my, first elder.

What a surprise seeing you here.” I spoke with the most charming smile I could utter.

[Let it go, huh?] Okay, that was the last one.

“Yes.

I also find it surprising.

I didn’t know that the Lux lineage was this disrespectful.” His comment didn’t bother me in the least.

I wasn’t from Lux lineage.

“You are absolutely correct.” I still supported him though.

“Just look at him.

You haven’t even begun and he is already eating.” I agreed with him pointing at someone else.

Elliot.

[Have I told you how similar you are to your father in this regard?] ‘Once, I think.’ And why is this old man even more irritated?

I even agreed with him.

“Let… Let us eat.” Alicia broke this bonding session of ours so I also thought it was enough bonding and started to eat.

“What… what brings you here, Grandfather?” Alicia hurriedly asked, trying to deviate from topics as soon as she could.

“Oh, child.

I don’t know if you have heard or not but some fascinating items are being sold in an auction but the problem is that we didn’t get the news until yesterday so the emperor asked me to procure it personally.” The first elder replied, keeping the product’s name concealed.

But I could guess what he wanted.

Still, that doesn’t mean I will show him any favoritism.

He can compete fairly like everyone else on Sunday.

“Also, there has been some news that the granddaughter of Bernard is trying to make them on her own.

He has invited us to a demonstration next Thursday.” He added which made me smile.

So that’s why she hasn’t contacted me yet.

Well, I have no problem with waiting.

But if she thinks she is going to get what she needs out of me easily, then she is sorely mistaken.

“That means you will be staying for quite some time,” I commented from the side.

[Do you have to ruin everything?] What?

I just asked an innocent question.

“Yes.

I suppose you welcome me with open arms?” He sarcastically asked.

I simply smiled, stood up, and started walking towards him while opening my arms to their limits.

Of course, my attempt to warmly welcome him was thwarted by Alicia who hurriedly stood up and hugged me.

“I will accept your welcome instead of my grandfather.” She hurriedly spoke while a blush crept on her face.

A sound of something breaking was heard in the background but wouldn’t it be rude if I didn’t welcome her properly?

So being an understanding person, I wrapped my arms around her and welcomed her with all my heart.

Something else snapped.

It awfully sounded like the dining table was cracking.

I let go of Alicia and turned to the first elder who was red all over and said with a smile, “That is how much I welcome you, Your Lordship.” “Grandfather,” Alicia hurriedly left my side, held the first elder’s hand, and said, “Why don’t you visit the academy with me today?

If I remember correctly, the headmaster is your friend, right?” ‘This is fun.’ I thought while settling back down in my chair.

Everyone else around the table was terrified.

I wonder why?

Well, anyway, it was time to leave for school.

The rest can handle them themselves.

“Let’s go, Rose,” I said and stood up to leave.

“See you in the evening Alicia.” Of course, I didn’t forget to remind Alicia of our training session.

Something snapped in the background but I couldn’t see it.

I would guess it was the table.
