===== Chapter 53 He uncorked the vial and drank it in one shot.
Almost immediately, he felt the effects but unlike the gang members, he wasn’t shocked or astonished, instead a serious expression came onto his face.
He now understood my intention so he seriously said, “This will cause the gangs to go to war with each other.” It is a blessing to deal with intelligent people.
“Does that mean you won’t do it?” Even though I was wearing a mask, he knew that I wasn’t least bit bothered by it.
He sighed and asked, “What is your reason for doing this?” Of course anyone would be curious about why I was doing it.
The reason, however, many would find outrageous.
“I wasn’t aware I would have to tell you that.” But that doesn’t mean I am going to tell him about it.
“You’re right.
You don’t.” He replied and after some contemplation, he continued, “You do realize that for such a task, the resources used have to be very much.” “I’m aware.” I simply replied and placed 50,000 gold from the get-go.
Of course, it wouldn’t be enough but he now knows how serious I am.
After giving a cursor count to the gold on the table, he said, “Three times more of this, and it will be done squeaky clean.” Which would mean I would have to spend 200,000 gold just for this task.
But there was nothing to be worried about.
I would get almost double of it tonight so I wasn’t stingy with spending money. And besides, what I was asking him to do was an expensive task.
It takes a lot to start a war just as it takes too much to end one.
Reaching an agreement, there was nothing to talk about so I stood up to leave.
“Your task will be done in a week.
The final payment has to be delivered by then.” Before I could walk away though, he placed a paper on the table while informing me.
A contract so I wouldn’t rip him off.
Sowing him my identity would take care of that but this was easier.
I simply pricked my thumb and dropped a drop of blood on the corner of the paper.
“Is that it?” I asked.
He checked the paper and saw that my blood was properly imprinted, he nodded and informed me more about the contract, “If you do not pay by next Sunday, your heart will stop.” “And if you do not perform the task satisfactorily, you will have to pay me back the mentioned price,” I replied.
He was surprised but he wasn’t the only one who could find hidden pieces.
He was quick to get over his surprise and replied, “Very well.
See you next week then.” I left without any kind of a response and straight away, I made my way to the auction house but not before I found a desolate corner to place my disguise in my inventory directly.
===== “Put these on the auction today,” I instructed while passing over two bottles to Talisa.
The one to mainly deal with me was Talisa.
Maybe the others thought she could seduce me while doing so but I wasn’t leaving any opportunities to do so.
I had decided to put up two for the auction instead of one since I needed money for something.
I realized that I didn’t see myself obtaining a werewolf blood essence in a month and a half.
After the integration of the first step, I wanted to directly move on to the next step but it was impossible to get the werewolf essence before the first half of the first year and I couldn’t waste that much of a time.
Hence, I decided to turn to the one person who could.
[Werewolf blood essence Rank: S Cost: 20000000] I had no doubt that I would find almost everything in the shop and once I searched extensively, I did find what I was looking for but the price for it was massive.
So, I decided to sell items to the shop to make shop money.
Problem?
Even after selling all of the monster corpses in the inventory, my funds were still quite a bit lacking.
[Coins: 9000630] I was missing almost eleven million which was a lot of money.
I didn’t even earn this much when I killed thousands of bats in the bat dungeon.
So the only solution left was to use the money from the potions and buy stuff from the outside world and sell it in the shop.
For that, I needed money and I doubt, just this much was enough.
Besides, the money I already had was for Baldwin so at most the money I would earn today is 700,000 to 800,000 gold which I doubt would be enough but I still had some time to arrange the rest of the money.
“Two?” Talisa asked curiously while picking up both of the bottles of the strength potion.
“Yes.
I need money for some things and also,” I replied while procuring another one from my inventory, this time a simple health portion of dark red color and continued, “I will later need your help to purchase some things from the funds procured today and this is for that trouble of yours.” She picked this one and compared the bottles and instantly understood that both of these were different in nature so she asked, “What does this one do?” I wasn’t in a mood to explain so I simply replied, “You can ask Asnor to run an appraisal for you for that.” She raised her eyebrow to my answer but said nothing and stood up to leave.
There was still some time before the auction began so I started to munch on the snacks before me.
Soon, the auction began.
The items displayed this time were somewhat the same as yesterday but none of them interested me.
I did think of buying the mana crystals but then, their worth might not be the same to the shop so I decided against it.
Finally, it was the turn of my product but the host stepped down for this one, and Talisa herself took the stage to sell the potions.
“Ladies and gentlemen, you would be glad to hear that I was able to convince the seller of mysterious and magical fluids called potions to sell his product.
He has also stated that he has another one in stock and if tonight’s response is better than last time, he would put up his last vial for the auction.” Talisa began with a long explanation while a pedestal was dragged to the stage.
Unlike yesterday, it wasn’t covered in a red cloth but displayed for everyone to see.
“Now, ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, let us begin today’s special auction.
The bidding begins at 50,000 gold with an increment of 20,000.” Talisa announced.
Although the increment had increased, there was no opposition from the audience.
It was safe to say that today, every man was for himself.
There will be no alliance today.
“Let the bidding begin!” Talia declared the beginning of the bidding war and immediately, the price reached 200,000.
“210” “230” “250” There was no sign of slowing down let alone stopping.
Alas, the funds of the people weren’t unlimited and soon only two people were competing for it.
“410” “430” “450” And it stopped at 450.
Since there was no more call for it, the potion was sold at 450,000 coins and now I was starting to feel massively guilty for selling something worth only 1000 gold for such a large price.
Still, the worth of the potion was massive if taken by someone of a divine grade being.
Just consider, if the emperor of the Cortum empire takes it and doubles his strength even for an hour, who in this world would be able to stop him?
After all, the potion wasn’t limited to someone’s rank.
Anyone could take it so it wasn’t an unfair price for the product.
“Sold!!!
To the gentleman in the fourth booth.
Congratulations!” Talia loudly announced with a smile on her face and ended the bidding.
Shortly afterward, when the potion was taken away from the stage, Talia said, “Ladies and gentlemen, please give me a few moments to confer with our client to see if he is indeed satisfied with the sale today.” Talisa left the stage but just for the show.
She wasn’t coming to confer with me.
And as expected, she shortly returned after a few minutes and announced, “Respected guests, our client is indeed very satisfied with the sale today and has entrusted us with another potion to sell.” It wasn’t long before this one was sold too but at the price I wasn’t expecting.
The same two competitors from before bid against each other as well but this time, the other one won instead of the one who won the first time.
A whopping 510,000.
Combing all my funds at the moment, my personal wealth is at least a million gold.
It is enough to raise a small army.
[They bought it at unnecessary prices] Of course, their intention was shingly clear at this point.
They will try to reverse-engineer the potions to see if they can make something like this.
Of course, it would be near impossible.
[Near impossible?] [Not impossible?] [Half of those ingredients don’t even exist anymore in this world] Of course but that doesn’t mean we should forget human creativity.
I have seen people make something out of nothing at some times.
Even if they might not be able to make the same potion, I have no doubt that given a few years and some great minds, they will surely be able to make something like this although in much inferior quality.
But until then, I will be amassing wealth like crazy.
Even still, the expenditure I was expecting to spend on rare items to buy through Talisa was about five times my current wealth or even more.
====== The auction ended and I was paid my money.
816,000 gold which would make my entire wealth about 900,000 gold.
But that was useless when I told this businesswoman what I needed.
“These are all rare items.
Getting monster corpses of A-class monsters isn’t so difficult but these herbs and crystals would be a headache to get and also very expensive.” She informed.
“How expensive?” I asked to which she replied after some calculation.
“You will have to sell about five more potions at the same price.” That would be difficult.
There was no guarantee that they would sell at the same price as no doubt, the price would go down somewhat when I would introduce such a large amount.
Then perhaps, there is a need to change the product overall.
I smiled and pulled out another item from the inventory.
If before I gave something to physical combatants.
Now was the time to introduce something for assassins or speed-based combatants.
A sky blue color potion was presented to Talisa who curiously took and looked at me for an explanation.
“Sell it in next week’s auction.
I will try to attend and even if I can’t, I will come to retrieve the money and these items next Sunday.” I instructed while I pulled three more from the inventory.
In total four might sell for quite a price.
I also didn’t tell Talisa about the effects and left it for Asnor again to tell her.
“For now just get the herbs and monster corpses.
As for the crystals, leave them for when I have enough funds to buy them.” For now, I will make a variety of different potions for the next week’s auction.
I don’t care if their prices fall down a bit, they are only on the market temporarily.
Once I have what I need for the second step of the penta enhancement array, I won’t need to buy anything anymore so I will stop selling these as these are an advantage I’m not willing to let others have.
After all, there is no telling who I will be fighting in the future.
If these end up in their hands, it might make things difficult for me in the future.
