The Archangel of Death - Chapter 410
410: Do Not Read 410: Do Not Read Chapter 357 {Return} Wei Jun heard the sound of Morial, the red-colored wyvern, while he was heading in the direction of the lair of the monster, the boss of that dungeon, the Behemoth.
The warning uttered by Morial resonated with deep fear.
It wasn’t just fear of the strong but fear of someone above you, the natural instinct of fear of someone you serve.
[Wyverns are a race that serves dragons] [Dragons of course are terrifying existences to them] The system said, solving that mystery.
Still, that didn’t explain the inexplicable fear in Morial’s voice.
‘Why are you so afraid?’ Wei Jun asked Morial, ‘What’s so special about this dragon?’ {…} {One of the five dragon gods} {The supreme dragon} {Humans called him Behemoth} {But his real name was…} [Dark Dragon: Guardian] The system interrupted because Morial’s voice was becoming more and more fearful as he spoke and he stopped speaking once he arrived at the name part.
‘Great dragon gods?’ Wei Jun asked, posing another question.
[The first of their kinds] [The guardians of the dragon race] [Among them, Guardian was a little too enthusiastic about his job] [If dragons were hunted] [He’d drown the cities in the fire] [The other dragon guardians were dissatisfied] [But none of them could speak up to Guardian] ‘Why?’ Wei Jun curiously asked.
[I can’t answer that] ‘…’ Wei Jun was left wallowing in silence.
If the system said no, then there was no way he was going to get an answer out.
So, Wei Jun turned to another source of information.
‘Why was Guardian so special?’ Wei Jun asked Morial, the red wyvern who still seemed to be trembling in fear.
The mark on Wei Jun’s palm was itching as if Morial was trying his darn best to get out and get as far away as he could but breaking the seal required focus and he was the most unfocused he was in his life at the moment.
So, he gave up, surrendering himself to his fate as he replied… {No one knows the exact reason} {But it was said because of whom he served} ‘Served?’ Wei Jun asked.
{No one knows} {It’s almost like a fairy tale} {A being came from beyond the tears of space and time} {A being whom all the races feared and served} {The dragons being its closest servants} {Among them, only Guardian served that being out of loyalty, not fear} {The most zealous follower} {In return, he was granted power more than others} {The others feared him, were jealous of him} {But they couldn’t stand against him} {He stood behind Gaurdian} {That was why even though Guardian was so unreasonable} {No race could do anything against him} {If not for his power, then out of fear of the one who stood behind him} {The one he served} ‘What happened then?’ Wei Jun asked.
{An outsider in the end was an outsider} {He returned where he came from} ‘Let me guess, Guardian was resentful of that?’ Wei Jun asked.
{Some say so} {Others say he knew the being was going to return so he was perfectly fine with it} {That part is actually unknown} {What is known is that once he was alone} {All those who held resentment for him, attacked him} {All the other dragons with the exception of the great red dragon banded against him, even involving other races} {Primarily humans} {They were all led by the great gold dragon, Belazar} {The battle turned the world upside down} {Guardian’s strength was known to the entire world} {Showcased in full} {Trillions of lives of different races suffered} {Green dragon Zathor lost his life while the silver dragon Pennith was gravely injured} {The great gold dragon, through his sheer power and cunning, managed to survive and defeat him once Guardian was on his last breath} ‘But he didn’t die?’ Wei Jun asked, guessing the story.
{The word god meant something after all} {Not to mention, the being whom they all served granted immortality to Guardian} [Near immortality, I’d say] The system interjected but it remained silent after that.
Wei Jun didn’t ask any questions and addressed Morial once again, ‘What then?’ {He couldn’t be killed} {So they opted to imprison him} {They harvested his heart since that was the core of a dragon} {Rendering him unable to use mana} {His strong body could be held after that using tremendous mana} ‘What happened to his heart?’ Wei Jun asked.
{…} {You know, don’t you?} [Did you know, host?] [The heart of a dark dragon is the purest] [One bit, and safely consumed] [And even a god-given illness like infertility can be cured] [Just imagine what the heart of a great dragon could do] [It could do wonders] [Such as…] ‘… Purifying an inhabitable world.
Or at least some part of it.’ [You couldn’t take your eyes off of it, could you?] [Ever since you came to the city, the Citadel…] [You couldn’t take your eyes away from it, could you?] ‘It was calling for me.’ [You now know who they served, don’t you?] ‘He’s excited.’ ~~ Wei Jun and his party arrived before what seemed like a cave.
Wei Jun could feel the intense pressure coming from the giant cave, and he wasn’t alone in feeling so.
Everyone else, especially the general, could feel the strong burn of it more than the others.
He could tell that the battle up ahead would be a difficult one.
He swallowed nervously and turned to everyone, “Listen up!” Once everyone was attentive, he breathed in deeply, letting out a long exhale before he said, “Many of you might not be able to but I can tell.
The battle up ahead would be dangerous.
We’ll most probably die.
There is little less than half a day before the entrance to the dungeon opens and the monsters within rampage outside.
Especially this one,” He pointed behind himself with his thumb and said, “This one is special.” “If this monster went outside, the limits on it would be removed and it would be unstoppable.
Nothing and I say no one would be able to stop it.
Not while it’s out there.
But inside, in here, it is still limited.
We may not be able to defeat it still, but we can injure it greatly, increasing the odds of those outside.” “Steel yourselves!
You will die beyond this point!
This is not your choice.
You don’t come inside, I will kill you here and drag the rest of you inside!” [His pep talk is…] ‘He’s scared.’ Wei Jun could tell.
The others might not be able to tell, just as they couldn’t tell the power of the being inside the cave, but Wei Jun could.
He could sense the great fear in the general at the moment.
After all, he could also see the same darkness looming around him.
Suffocating, mesmerizing, beautiful… But, he imagined it wasn’t as beautiful to the general as it was to him.
Wei Jun sighed and said, ‘This will be easier to handle thanks to that.
No matter how strong a human is, he will always find excuses to avoid power like this.’ [I see] [You intend to use his fear] Wei Jun nodded and let the general motivate, or at least that was what he could say, the rest of the team while he made preparations of his own.
He took a deep breath and stepped forward.
For a few steps, it was fine but as soon as he stepped inside the cave, just one foot… Dhum!!!!
A pressure assaulted him from above, urging him to kneel.
But he could resist it.
As if it wasn’t intended for him at all.
It was intended for… “Kugh!!” “Argh!!” Were they supposed to fight that thing?
They were all thinking that.
How were they supposed to do so?
They all questioned themselves.
They couldn’t even step inside.
They told themselves.
It is better to give up.
They convinced themselves.
“Forget about them and come inside.” A voice penetrated his mind.
It wasn’t like he was the only one who could hear it, the others could do it.
But, he was the only one who could understand it.
As if the language was his primary language.
He could tell what the voice was saying even though it was his first time hearing the language.
[Dragon language] [You can understand due to the inherent mark on your soul] The system nonchalantly said as if the situation wasn’t threatening at all.
Wei Jun trusted that nonchalance and stepped forward, under the gazes of everyone who was frozen in their places, unable to move, speak, or even think.
Wei Jun began to walk, and he kept on walking.
He walked and walked, and walked.
He must have walked for about two hours under that intense pressure that wasn’t even intended for him.
It was almost as if it was just there.
Not meant to harm or intimidate anyone.
The pressure of a presence.
That was all it was.
And just that was… “Welcome!
My lord!
I welcome you to my humble abode!” Terrifying.
