The Archangel of Death - Chapter 370
370: No Mercy 370: No Mercy Chapter 370 “Wha-What just happened?” “Did he use trickery?” “Did he use the power of the demons?” “It-It must be the power of the heretics.” “Yes!
That must be it!” Speculations rose through the tent as ten thousand men just dropped down on the ground, unresponsive, dead or alive unknown.
However, one thing was known throughout the army now, even if the ten of the nobles refused to believe it.
“My threat was real.” The young man walking towards them softly spoke but it was like the voice rang up in their heads.
The entirety of the army heard his voice, loud and clear, in their heads, and they could tell.
The gait of the young man never stopped.
He never even paused when he utilized the strange power in his hands to neutralize thousands of archers.
“Too bad you have already made your choice,” The young man said and a sword appeared in his hand.
He kept walking, without stopping.
Seeing that, many were intimidated but since no one knew what it was… “Stupid.” The young man spoke which once again was heard clearly by everyone.
Everyone shivered, an involuntary reaction their body had.
It was like other than their brains, every other part of the body knew what mistake they were making.
Unfortunately, as the young man said, it was too late.
Shaa!!
The young man planted his feet firmly on the ground and pushed forward.
In the blink of an eye, before anyone could react, the young man waved the sword that appeared in his hand.
No one knew when it appeared and how it appeared.
All they knew was that the young man was across hundreds of meters in an instant and before the knight at the front could even ready his shield.
Slick… A simple slash and hundreds of heads fell.
The young man didn’t even let the soldiers digest what happened let alone recover from the fact that the war had already begun.
The young man slashed his sword again, cutting through droves of monsters like they were made of butter and his sword was a hot scalding knife.
There was no mercy in those movements and whoever came into the path of that sword was split in half.
Of course, there were times when some were lucky enough to survive, but for some reason, their bodies wouldn’t move.
They would just fall on the ground, no better than dead.
As for the young man, he said a few words, and glowing robs appeared around him.
While his sword covered his front, his back and sides were covered by those glowing orbs.
They would strike anyone coming from the sides or the back and then new ones would replace those orbs.
It was like an infinite cycle of defense and his offense was an entirely different story.
His sword, his third one, because the first two broke during the first four minutes of fighting, was also cutting through his enemies but it was dulling by the moment.
It wasn’t long before the third one broke as well, its fragments embedding themselves into the flesh of the soldiers before him and new sword replaced the broken one.
The battle had started roughly seven minutes ago and in those seven minutes, around one fourth of the army had been killed or neutralized.
“Ma-Magicians!
Do something.” The duke yelled.
Following his directives, the magicians chanted attack spells such as thunder, and blaze, and threw them at the fighting young man, completely disregarding their own allies.
While it was cruel, there was nothing that could be done.
The young man was just too much into the army.
‘Since I’m not the one killing them,’ Adrian thought.
His rule in life was to never kill an innocent.
However, with such a heavily concentrated attack, there were sure to be some innocent deaths.
But since he wouldn’t be the one killing them, he didn’t have to save them either.
Also, ‘I thought they would never do it.’ Mana.
The cosmic power of the world, the main one at least.
It was so heavily ingested into the world that even the atmosphere was laced with it.
However, every person’s mana signature was different and once a person emitted mana, they would leave a single trace laced with mana from the emitted mana to the user.
In other words, a trace, leading back to the mana user.
[Celestial Guard] Adrian used his defensive skill and fortified it a lot with MP.
Then he raised his hand and a similar transparent power appeared in his hand.
He waved his hand while he paused.
Since the magic attacks were coming, the nearby soldiers were running away.
Adrian could have run away as well but then it would be difficult to pick up the mana trace.
He waved his hand around him in a circular motion and the soul power floated in that area.
The power of the soul was the strongest after the four universal cosmic powers of death, life, time, and nature.
No other power was superior to it, not even divine or in this case, mana.
As the spells landed on Adrian, loud explosions soon followed and blew anything and everything around the area including everyone away from that spot.
“Hah!
What a fool!” The duke rejoiced in the fact that his enemy’s arrogance had gotten the best of it.
Had he not been so confident, he would have been easily able to get away.
Of course, with the scale of the explosion, there still would have been damage, but it wouldn’t have been to this extent.
“That is the end of the arrogant ones,” Another noble standing near the duke spoke.
“Correct, indeed,” The Duke agreed.
However, before anyone could celebrate, the commander of the mages yelled, “My lord!” As the duke turned to the made commander, he saw the worried look on his face and then his gaze turned to the mages.
They fell, one by one, just like the archers, their fate was the same.
Whether they were dead or alive was unknown but it also didn’t matter.
What mattered was that the enemy they attacked had somehow retaliated just like before.
And that was only possible if the enemy attacked wasn’t harmed.
With a bad premonition, the duke turned to look at the spot where there was a giant crater now.
There was still some dust to settle but for a blessed like him, it was no problem to see through the dust and what he saw made him feel like his heart was about to leap out of his chest.
There he stood, with his expression the same, cold as ice, his hair waving in the air, protected from the dust, and most of all, the absence of wounds on his being.
He was as pristine as polished jade and there was no sign of an injury anywhere to be seen.
He casually dusted off his left shoulder even when there was no dust on it and said, “That’s it?” That indeed was it.
The strongest attack force in the army of the nobles had been neutralized.
The only ones left were the high-ranking ones such as the archer commander, mage commander, knight commander, warrior commander, and the personal guards of the nobles, their ranks ranging from S to SS which was a terrifying force if not considering the fact that such an attack force wouldn’t have come unscathed from the combined attack of so many mages.
Yet, the young man was as perfect as he was since the battle began.
Sure, they still had great numbers but they were useless.
Anyone could see how they were being cut in half, some even in more pieces.
It was very difficult to find an opportunity within the attacks of the young man.
There was no opening whatsoever and the high ranking ones had made sure of that.
No matter what strategy they utilized, they were sure they wouldn’t be able to find an opening in such a perfect sword technique or the impenetrable defense which was just another form of defense.
“Lo-Lord Carmon.
May-Maybe there is no meaning to this battle.” The same noble who was just agreeing with Duke Carmon to ridicule Adrian said.
The other nobles agreed as well and even their bodyguards knights also agreed, even though their opinion didn’t meant jack in the presence of the nobles but if they wanted to walk away and surrender, then no one could stop them.
They were making their stance clear.
Surrender or we will leave.
The knights had seen the power of the young man and given that the warning of the young man at the beginning had proven to be true, they were now truly afraid.
“I-I surrender,” However, before they could do anything, a knight at the forefront dropped his shield and announced his surrender.
He wasn’t the only one.
Soon more and more knights began to raise their hands in surrender, dropping their shields to the ground.
The warriors also followed although they hadn’t been attacked yet.
They had seen how terrifying the young man was and it was always better to survive than cling to their pride.
“How cooperative of you,” The young man said.
Code of the battlefield, or maybe the code of every organization that upheld honor.
Accept the surrender of your enemies.
[Magic cannon x1000] “But,” The young man said, “Didn’t I say it in the beginning?” The knights in the tent widened their eyes as they remembered the words of Adrian that he had said at the beginning.
