363: The coming of Death 363: The coming of Death Chapter 363 [Warning] [Warning] [The wall between the dimensions is becoming thinner] [The wall between the dimensions has weakened] [Warning] [Warning] [Fragment of G*h*%*$ is not strong enough to bear the descent of Death] [Damage will be reverted] [Fragment 13001 has been eliminated] [Fragment 1211100 has been eliminated] [Fragment 18817666 has been eliminated] [Fragment 0007761SS has been eliminated] [Fragment 554198….] [Fragment 88132….] [Fragment 991…] [Fragment 61….] [Fragmen….] [Frag….] What was a fragment?
If put into more of a fancy term, then it was a miniature universe with people in it.
Lives, which were just like the real earth where I was from.
Right now, however, universes were being wiped out.
They were being erased from existence so that this world could survive the descent of my father.
Why was such a sacrifice necessary?
I didn’t know.
Maybe he wanted to save this world because my child, his grandchild was here or was it something else?
However, I knew my father well enough to know he wouldn’t needlessly kill anyone.
Even for me, he wouldn’t take a life.
He sure as hell wouldn’t sacrifice hundreds of billions of lives to save one.
I was sure of it.
[Is it faith?] ‘It’s a belief.’ […] [The fragments being wiped are inhabitants] [Life either hasn’t born on them yet or has extinguished] [Leaving behind zombie or dark universes] Relief washed over me as I heard Allison’s words.
I wanted to save my child, I really did.
But even I wasn’t willing to sacrifice so much to save it.
I just couldn’t.
Step… A single step echoed in my ears.
My body was still badly damaged so I couldn’t see but I was healing slowly and my hearing was the first sense to be fixed.
A single cold step.
I had heard that before.
The sole of my father’s shoe, interacting with the cold hard ground to produce that sound bundled with the weight behind that step.
The weight of the powerful.
My father was here.
~~ Rafael could see his granddaughter standing still just a little away from him.
The shocked expression on her face resembled that of fear.
He wanted to rush over to her and grab her.
He wanted to save her.
But, he was overwhelmed with fear himself.
He could see his companions, the divine ranked beings of the world, beside him.
The people whom even the worst catastrophes of the world couldn’t stop.
The very same people he could always rely on for support.
Yet, they were overwhelmed with fear themselves.
He tried to raise his head to look up but he couldn’t.
The air, the surroundings, everything, trembled.
Not just the people, it was the world as well.
The world was overwhelmed with fear itself.
Step… And in all that, someone passed by him, his breath stiffened as he heard that sound.
He couldn’t raise his head.
Love, hate, anger, or whatever emotion he had at the moment extinguished like a candle under a storm.
Only one thing remained.
Fear.
Deep, instinctual, inherent, fear.
He couldn’t even dare to look at the feet of the person passing him by.
The same went for everyone else.
His companions beside him, Adrian’s companions or whoever was left in the capital, no, whoever was left in the world was stricken with fear.
The sounds of steps stopped.
Although he couldn’t raise his head, he could hear it.
He could tell where those footsteps were heading.
He wanted nothing to rip that fear out of him and rush where that figure was.
To save his only granddaughter, he tried and tried but all in vain.
He couldn’t escape that fear.
But, if someone was stricken with fear, then it was none other than the being in Alicia’s body.
Veronica.
She wanted to tremble, but she couldn’t even do that.
As she looked at the figure coming closer and closer to her, the idea that she was the god of this world seemed laughable.
A joke.
The power she thought was enough to blow up the world wasn’t enough.
The power she had was… “Insignificant.” Just one word, just one word left the lips of the figure standing before her.
Yet as that world was said, the entire world, and the worlds beyond, all trembled.
A wave passed through them all and they nodded in acknowledgment.
Before the mighty power of the figure before Veronica, everything was… insignificant.
Veronica could see the figure before her, his dark eyes darker than black, his hair pitch dark that it was difficult to even differentiate between the strands on his head.
His skin pale but full of life which sounded ironic because the figure before her signified death itself.
The coldness in his eyes, the cold that could paralyze the soul of the existences worlds away.
The same figure was looking, peering deep into her soul and finally, that figure found what it was looking for.
He smiled, a smile that wasn’t directed at Veronica, but she could feel who it was for.
And… she knew her efforts were in vain.
“Hello, Alicia.” The man said as he extended his hand and placed the tip of forefinger on Veronica’s, no, Alicia’s head and said, “Nice to meet you.
I would be your father in law.” “AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” A scream that spread to the corners of the world.
A scream that couldn’t be unheard even if one tried their best.
Strangely enough though, the source of the scream was silent.
Alicia’s lips were locked shut.
The scream wasn’t hers after all.
“What… What is happening?” In a pristine palace, a man asked as the woman before him just started to scream out of nowhere.
He wanted to help her, he wanted to move and take her, pull her away from that spot but… The fear was too much for him to move.
He couldn’t move nor could he extend his hand to help.
All he could do was just sit and watch as the woman in the middle of the room screamed in nothing but pain.
Just… pain.
Sitting on the throne in the room, a woman of ethereal beauty could also not move.
She could feel the presence of the being in the world beyond the dimension.
But, just like everyone else in the room, she couldn’t move.
All she could do was see as the woman on the carpet, the woman who had decided to take her place in possessing Alicia just to be on the safe side slowly burned and her existence faded away. “Nara…” Her name left her lips but she couldn’t look away just like she couldn’t do anything.
All she could do was, watch, and see how her sister in arms, the person who was willing to sacrifice herself to make sure their connection with the saint of light, the holy saint was stable, and there was no threat to Veronica’s life, burn away in darkness.
Death engulfed her as her presence, her will, her existence, her soul, slowly, fraction by fraction, faded away into nothingness.
Not to the next world, but nothingness.
The world of void some would say.
“No…” She wanted to move, but she couldn’t.
Her body wouldn’t.
The same sensation she felt when she was a child.
The same scene when her grandfather was killed by that monster right in front of her eyes.
The same scene was repeated once again.
She was losing someone again, someone to a powerful monster, the monster with the same presence as back then but different as well.
The monster from beyond.
~~ Alicia looked at the man before him and all she saw was warmth.
Like her mother who stared at her in warmth, the man was doing the same.
Only his gaze wasn’t just directed at her but at her stomach as well.
So, her gaze went to her stomach as well.
Her hand moved, only she wasn’t frozen in the entire universe, no, in all of the universes.
Her hand, while found its way to her stomach and in an instant, relief washed over her.
‘It is safe.’ It was safe.
Her child was safe.
She couldn’t bear the relief and finally gave in to the innumerable exhaustion and fell but before she could hit the ground, two hands gently caught her.
White hair and white eyes.
Concern and worry, those were the only two emotions that could be seen in the eyes of the young man who had just caught Alicia.
Yet, relief was soon to set in as he saw her safe and sound.
As he saw the life within her safe and sound as well.
Pat.
A palm on his head, a gentle pat he hadn’t felt for thousands of millions of years but he remembered the sensation just right.
The loving touch of his father.
“Gabriel,” The man said, the warmth from his hand intensifying, “I will always choose you.” Six words.
Just the first one was enough to let him know how much his father loved him.
The rest of the five were just an answer to make sure he would never forget it.
Shaa… A gentle breeze blew past him.
The hand was no longer on his head, the being was no longer in the world.
But… The warmth stayed.
[You have a good father] [Gabriel] “Hmm.” He couldn’t help but agree.
He had a great father.
