It only meant that they were all the more dangerous.

“Get out of her!!!” I said as I increased the force behind my attack to the point of even burning up the divine power I was absorbing from her.

Of course, the process of emission and absorption wasn’t done at the same pace so I was still absorbing a great deal of life elements, filling up that gauge.

“Why not try and free her yourself, heretic?” She said.

What pissed me off more than that was the fact that she was too calm.

Sure, she was offended at the beginning but once she saw my condition worsening, she didn’t mind losing a bit of divine power.

Oh yeah, worsening.

If I absorbed more than the allowed limit, I’d risk exploding into bits and pieces.

Even my soul would be damaged.

After all, the soul always came after life itself.

While the soul was more complex than life, life was far stronger than it, making it a force to reckon with.

But, I couldn’t just give up.

I rained everything I could on her and she took it like a champ.

At the moment, I was the strongest in this world if I didn’t count the guardian beings and she was close to defeating me so easily.

There was only one option left and I didn’t have much of a choice but to use it.

Time was passing by and if I took too long, the damage to it would be permanent, making it difficult for me to do anything.

All of this would be pointless then.

His wounds healed on their own and his speed was enhanced once he used the skill [Breath of Life] on himself and healed himself to the peak condition only to be attacked again but this time he was prepared and dodged the attack.

The shockwave still grazed him, leaving his left arm invalid but his other arm was working, the one that attacked Veronica once again, absorbing a good amount of divine energy from her again.

However, there was once again the limit of absorbing the power hindering his path.

He tried to attack her with the injured arm as it was healed but Veronica utilized her own weight and dropped to the ground, getting beneath Adrian and punching him in the gut.

Adrian stomached the pain since he could do that much at least and attacked Veronica from above on her head but she moved to the side, spinning, she kicked Adrian’s legs, throwing him to the ground.

While it didn’t appear to be so, she was well versed in hand-to-hand combat as she brought Adrian down to the ground on his back.

However, Adrian was much better.

He also spun on the ground by using his left hand and kicked Veronica straight in the face.

It would have been better had he kicked her in the stomach but he could do that or else there would be no point in fighting right now.

He was holding back.

He couldn’t go full out against her, worried that he might hurt her.

So he was absorbing her divine power with each exchange, whether she was the one to hit or he was the one to hit or touch her, he was absorbing her divine power.

But it wasn’t working.

She had thoroughly infested herself in Alicia, making her divine energy directly connected to her true form in the dimension of the Supremes.

Of course, the tunnel supplying that divine energy was narrow so her divine energy wasn’t exactly overflowing, but it was still enough for the residents of the world to handle at the moment.

Even the capital was being evacuated at the moment so there wasn’t much damage to others but even with such a massive skill that covered almost all of the imperial palace in white ice, Veronica was kicking just fine.

She covered herself in a golden hue that was comprised of her divine power.

As her divine power kept the cold at bay, she tried to attack Adrian once again but Adrian opened his mouth, smoking emitting from his mouth.

Even Veronica felt a bad premonition as she saw that.

She hurriedly brought both of her hands to the front, dismissing all ideas to attack and focused all of her power on defense.

[Dragon’s Breath] With colored flames that were hot and scorching enough to melt the foundations of the world they stood upon fell on Veronica with an intensity she never expected.

Her hands, even with the divine-powered shield in front of her, began to melt and her flesh followed suit.

If there was one part of her body that wasn’t burning, then it was her stomach.

‘He’s protecting it.’ Veronica was easily able to deduce.

Not only that, she was able to figure out Adrian’s weakness but her divine power was fading faster than she expected.

The first and foremost priority was to make it out alive, in a sense, so she could at least use the newly learned fact about Adrian.

However, that was easier said than done.

The flame coming from Adrian was different.

It wasn’t just hot, it was extinguishing.

Burning and erasing the very essence of a being.

That was what that flame was doing.

In Veronica’s case, it was the divine power that infested Alicia’s body.

If Adrian managed to burn that away, Veronica’s connection would become too weak to maintain her sentience within Alicia’s body.

She knew that well enough so grit her teeth and endured.

But just enduring wasn’t enough.

The flame was becoming stronger as seconds passed by and although it had only been three seconds since that flame assaulted her, her presence was more than half gone.

Two more seconds and she would be gone.

‘There is no other choice.’ She decided.

Life was nothing but a series of choices and the risk presented with those choices.

If she was extinguished right now, she would have to wait for the next saint candidate for possession again.

She couldn’t wait that long again.

Especially now that the connection of the apostles with the gods was being severed, she was at the risk of her connection breaking as well.

If that happened, then even if there were hundreds of saints in the future, her connection would take millions of years to regain again just like it did this time.

‘I will not let that happen.’ She decided.

She decided to take that risk.

The tunnel that provided her with her divine energy, the connection between the dimensions, she had to widen it.

A risk that would take effect not only on her but the other of her kind as well.

However, as long as her connection remained, even faintly, there would be a chance to resume all of their plans.

‘Expand!’ She forcibly drew power from the tunnel, making it unstable but sucking more of her divine power from it.
