357: The future 357: The future Chapter 357 A familiar sight.

A terrifying feeling.

Everything was the same as before.

As the two times before.

Only this time, there was one tiny difference.

Mixed in with all that divinity, there was something else.

Something extra.

Something… deadly.

Max stumbled as he saw the pillar of white light extending from the ground all the way up into the sky.

It was brighter and more powerful than before, but that wasn’t what made it different.

The dark tendrils felt like they were of lightning but they were of something else entirely mixed in with the massive pillar of light.

Rose was in the same condition as well.

She felt something from those dark tendrils that reached down deep into her heart and gripped it.

The same was true for everyone.

Everyone except for two individuals.

Even the demons in the army of angels felt something deep down but all they had was fear.

But to Laura and Sophien, what they felt was entirely something else.

Something familiar, and although it was terrifying, it was soothing as well.

Laura and Sophien felt something reacting in their hearts, something that belonged to them.

Sophien closed her eyes and began to focus on that feeling.

The familiar feeling of her power.

She had to convert her mana into that power every time she needed to use her power.

Yet today, she felt like something else was happening.

That power that converted her mana every time, the same power that was never under her control, the power that was arrogant as hell, was tame.

Today, Sophien felt like that power had seen something more powerful than its previous owner which was obviously the gods that granted her that power.

However, today, that owner was changing.

She began to assimilate that power, order it to merge with her mana.

That power, without a moment’s hesitation, began to do so.

As if it was immensely terrified, the fear it felt was transmitted to Sophien as she absorbed that strand of power and she knew where that fear was coming from.

She opened her eyes to look at the white pillar in the distance but closed her eyes again to absorb that power.

She was soon engulfed in something dark and began to change.

A similar scene was occurring in another room where Laura was sitting on her bed, feeling the immense power of darkness engulfing her.

To her, unlike Sophien, the process wasn’t strange and new.

It was something she had felt before.

Many times before when she trained with Adrian.

When he converted her mana to pure darkness, making her physically strong as well.

She didn’t feel the slightest of fear from the power she felt.

Instead, she felt happiness.

‘He has returned.’ Her beloved was back after so long.

~~ As I opened my eyes, the world felt different.

Different in a good sense.

It meant the process went alright.

I looked around, the place was… how should I say it… destroyed.

Well, that was the only word that could describe the state of my surroundings.

I only hoped Max had evacuated.

If he hadn’t, well, that would be unfortunate.

Since there was no party member dead notification, I was sure he was alive.

[A new body has been reformed] [All powers have been fully assimilated and greatly enhanced] [MP +10,000] [SP +1,000] [Assimilation with the element of life at 70%] [Assimilation with the element of death at 70%] [Composition of the element of life at 6.7] [Composition of the element of death at 7.9] [All stats +200] The familiar notification I hadn’t seen in a while as well as a little bit of disappointment.

To be fair, I expected more from a dragon king’s heart.

The increment of life and death was decent.

Not great but at least decent.

As for the rest of the increments, I definitely thought my SP would have increased by at least 5000.

I didn’t know MP worked so I had no comments on that.

It was too pure for Adrian’s body so I only attempted to use it once and even then, the consequences were so dire that I never attempted it again.

The stat increase was… okay.

I was expecting more, but it wasn’t disappointing as well.

‘Is that it?’ I asked.

[…] [No] ‘What do you mean, no?’ I asked.

[It’s a dragon’s heart] [You think you’re going to obtain everything the moment you chow it down] [It will show its effects slowly over time] [Be prepared to go through the same thing at least two times] ‘…’ I remained silent.

She was right.

Well, I had consumed the hearts of dragon kings before but I digested them instantly so I wasn’t familiar with this part.

Since that was the case, I stood up and made my way to the outside.

[Hartmann’s suit has been equipped] My previous suit was ripped to nothingness when my body was reconstructed so I equipped the new one.

I looked around and saw nothing but open grounds.

It was nighttime so there was dark all around.

I made my way towards the castle in the distance.

Since I knew something like this would happen, I held my training session at the far end of the city, a long way away from the people.

In the distance, I could see a pink-haired girl standing along with a terrified man in white armor.

I chuckled seeing Max’s current state.

I took a step forward and appeared just beside them, freezing both of them in the place they were.

“My-My liege?” Max questioned with wide eyes as he looked at me.

The same was true for Rose.

Well, my appearance must have changed a lot with the new body and all but that was for later.

“So?

What did I miss?” ~~ While my appearance change was quite big news, it settled down after a day or two.

The most imminent issue was… I missed a lot.

As it turned out, I had been away for almost eight months.

The pillar of light was emitting for two months at least.

In that amount of time, there had been a lot of visits from the empire, asking for me to return.

However, ever since the formation of the white pillar, they stopped since they couldn’t even make it to the city due to the terrifying power leaking out of it.

One good thing did come out of it though.

The power getting out of me benefitted everyone.

Even the demons were purified of all their traits and their mana completely converted to darkness.

The same was true for every other race.

My entire army’s rank was raised to the peak of A rank and some of them were even S ranks.

The greatest improvement was for Sophien and Laura.

While Laura’s mana was already converted, she only felt enhancement while Sophien finally managed to convert her mana to shadow attribute, completely freeing it from the influence of the Supremes.

She was no longer an apostle.

The same could be said for Sasha but she wasn’t completely free from the influence of the Supremes.

Well, we’ll get there as well.

As for Derrell, well, he wasn’t an apostle the moment I initiated the blood bond with him so he was in the clear.

The only person I was troubled about was… “How do you feel?” I asked Alicia who was training in the training room of my castle.

“I am feeling great,” Alicia replied.

She was blushing a bit at how intensely I was staring at her.

“Is-Is there something you need, Adrian?” “No,” I replied, my eyes still fixed on her.

I was worried about her, to be honest.

As I said, being freed from the influence of the Supremes was vital for everyone, even those who weren’t in my group.

For Alicia, however, the case was a bit strange.

She wasn’t just an apostle; she was a saint.

A saint was different.

If the apostles were given borrowed powers of their respective Supremes, Saints were slightly different.

Their blessing was directly shared by the Supremes.

In simpler words, their proxy.

Freeing Alicia from Veronica, the Supreme whose power she shared, would be very, very difficult.

Especially with the brain damage in the equation.

I didn’t know to what extent Veronica had infiltrated her mind.

Although I had absorbed all the divine power that was foreign in her brain, there was no telling if there was something more to it as well.

Alicia couldn’t be freed from Veronica’s issue as long as she was either alive or her brain had somehow been changed.

Completely expelling her from Alicia’s mind would be something I didn’t know how to do.

I had never come across such a situation after all.

I was worried about this issue.

The more she grew, her connection with Veronica would also strengthen, making her susceptible to her possession.

I couldn’t risk that.

Especially since some new information had come to light.

“My liege,” Max entered the training room while Alicia hurriedly turned around to hide her tomato-red face.

“What?” I asked, still keeping my eyes on Alicia.

“A silver knight is here to see you.” Max simply replied, not going into the details of the silver knight’s rank or name.

“Haa…” I sighed and turned to the exit of the room, “Those damn geezers.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Bad_Wolf_7811 Creation is hard, cheer me up!
