The Archangel of Death - Chapter 340
340: Target (2) 340: Target (2) Chapter 340 As I arrived at the wall of the camp, I saw the reason for the despair on the soldier’s face.
There must have been around 20,000 of them or maybe more.
However, one fact that couldn’t be overlooked was that there wasn’t just the silica among them.
There were also humans.
Or would it be more correct to say that there were human silicas among them?
‘Plastic humans’ would be a better term.
Anyway, there were about 5,000 human-looking silica and the rest were silica that only had the creepy mouth on their faces.
Another thing about them was that they were carrying the weapons.
When I first arrived here, I noticed the signs of battles but they were the signs of the typical man-against-man battle, not of the battle of man against monsters.
Seeing the monsters and men there, it was clear that this was a coordinated attack and that someone was controlling these monsters.
How was the real question here?
‘I need to get to their base.’ It was clear that these things were artificially manufactured.
They didn’t just come into existence due to some sort of virus.
Typically, the results of such viruses turn humans into monsters, not become humans themselves so these things weren’t natural.
They were artificial.
But before all that, I needed to deal with this army before me.
Their number was astonishing and even I wasn’t too sure about dealing with them.
Of course, I was bound to win.
It just wouldn’t be an easy win was all.
“Form a defensive line.
Only shoot those that cross the 200-meter distance mark from the base.” I instructed and stepped forward.
As I did, I fell and landed on the ground.
Behind me was the gate that led to Becca.
These monsters were here for Becca.
However, saving Becca was a little difficult at the moment.
Ignoring the fact that I wouldn’t be able to handle these many of them by myself so quickly, also the fact that there could be silica in my base was enough for me to know that saving Becca was impossible at the moment.
But was I willing to use her as a bait?
Hell no.
I was cold but not that cold.
In no way was I going to put Becca and her unborn child in danger by using her as bait to lead me back to the base of the silica.
It would be the right thing to do and it would save millions, but it simply went against my morals.
So, let the fun begin.
I picked up my speed and began to run in the direction of the silica.
It would have been great if I had Eric’s sword but since I didn’t, I had to make do with the ones in my inventory.
Still, most of them were damaged and required repair so I had to purchase a new one.
[Sword of the valiant knight] [Rank: A] [Effect: All stats +10 when fighting alone against ten or more enemies] [Cost: 1,000,000] It was very cheap for an A rank weapon but given the effect, it wasn’t anything amazing.
However, that was the case in the world of Isis.
This wasn’t Isis.
Here, superpowers didn’t exist so I could easily slice through the silica using the simple swords from the world of Isis.
Even if I had an E rank sword, it would have been enough.
This was an A rank one.
So it made sense when with just one slash of my sword, hundreds of silica were slashed into two.
However, there were way more of them and they were way faster than me just slashing my sword.
With each slash, hundreds of them came closer, and soon enough, they were very close to me.
[Magic Bullet 500] I had to break down Magic Cannon into Magic Bullet because even one was enough to kill two of these monsters.
However, even that wasn’t enough.
Just as the ones near me died, they were replaced by even more than that.
Still, I never stopped.
I must have slashed about a thousand times, or maybe even more, and replenished my MP to use [Magic Bullet] again and again.
I did all of that without a moment’s breath.
In the end, I was tired even with my stats.
Still, I was the only man standing on the battlefield.
Not one of these monsters had made it past the point I had selected.
However, the reason for that wasn’t because I managed to stop them all.
It was because… “Continue to fight for us, Sir,” I saw the smirk on the face of the soldier captain.
His smirk, along with the smirk of the others was clear what was going on here.
“Since when?” I asked.
“Since the beginning.” He replied.
More and more people were making it to the wall, slowly covering the entire base.
There were men, women, children, elderly, and each and every person in the base there.
From the beginning, they were all silica.
And they were very good actors.
“We needed you, after all, Gabriel.” And not just them as well.
As I said before, there were two groups attacking.
About 15,000 silica, and 5,000 turned silica.
The latter hadn’t moved ever since they arrived.
They were at the back of the army led by a man in what seemed to be a traditional Italian suit.
And for some reason, he knew my name.
They needed me.
To research the silica?
No.
To take care of the people?
No.
The only thing I had done ever since I came here was to tend to Becca.
No.
Not just that.
I had fed the power of life to her baby.
Something only I could have done.
“I won’t ask how you know me,” I said since I had somewhat arrived at a conclusion.
It had my father written all over this.
Not this scheme, but bringing me here.
I was supposed to go to Isis but somehow ended up here, in the domain of someone else.
What I had to do was clear.
So that wasn’t what I was curious about.
Not in the least.
What I wanted to know was just this… “Do you think you can get away from here alive?” I asked, looking at the man who was slowly making his way over.
“Haha,” The man in the Italian suit chuckled and said, “Not even in a million years.
There’s no way I can hold the great Gabriel Smith back.
The destroyer of universes, the conqueror of worlds, and the son of death.
It would be foolish of me even to assume that I can defeat you, even with this many of us around.” “However,” He paused before a sinister grin appeared on his face as his body began to expand which caused his clothes to rip, he said, “Stalling for just five minutes is an entirely different story.” “Why the girl?
Why is she so special?” I asked.
“How would I know?” He asked, his voice a little heavier than before, “You weren’t supposed to appear here so we had to improvise.
But whatever it is, I’m sure the great being has a plan for this.” ‘The great being?’ There it was, the cliché setting once again.
If you knew who it was, just say it.
Why create any unnecessary mystery?
Anyway, I braced myself for impact.
Not all of them, but this one for sure wasn’t normal.
He was as strong as me, but with the sword, I was a little stronger.
Just enough to defeat him.
~~ Boom!
Boom!!
Becca heard the sounds coming from the outside, the battle in full swing.
She didn’t know what to do because no other defensive battle had lasted this long.
It had been almost an hour since Gabriel left but he hadn’t returned yet.
She was worried.
She stood up, even though it was very difficult for her to do so, and made her way outside the ten.
Outside, however, she found no one.
She looked around.
Usually, there were soldiers outside the infirmary, guarding her upon Gabriel’s instructions, but at the moment, there was no one around, even in the fields.
“What the hell is going on?” Becca mused.
The sounds coming from the battle were still as lively as before so the fight was ongoing.
However, what she found amiss about this fight was the simple and sole fact that there was no sound of gunshots.
Usually, Gabriel would just kill the ones at the forefront and leave the stragglers for the soldiers.
She had followed him many times to the battle so she could see.
Lying in the infirmary was a little hard for her every day.
However, in this battle, she heard no sounds of gunshots.
When she made her way to the wall of the camp, she saw everyone, from civilians to soldiers, at the wall, just standing there, doing nothing.
“What the hell are they doing?
Gabriel needs help.” Becca mused to herself and was about to make her way to them when she heard someone speak from her side, startling her, “Because Gabriel doesn’t need their assistance.” “Miss Marleen!” Becca said out loud, admonishing the middle-aged woman who had just spoken, “You scared the hell out of me.” The middle-aged woman smirked and grabbed Becca’s wrist, “Trust me, sweet Becca.
You haven’t experienced anything for that.” “What?” Becca confusedly asked before she tried to shake her wrist free from the woman, “You’re hurting me.” “No, I’m not,” The woman replied before she said, “The real pain is yet to come.” “What are you saying?” Becca was even more confused but instead of answering Becca’s question, the woman simply raised her other hand to reveal a cut on it which was badly bleeding.
Before Becca could even point it out, the woman spoke, “Ha Mun Re Ni Tepedzi.” And in the next moment, Becca disappeared from her spot, leaving behind an empty husk that was once Miss Marlene.
