297: The past?

297: The past?

Chapter 297 Seeing the guards outside my chambers wasn’t actually a good sign for anyone inside.

But if they still left them like this, then whoever was inside didn’t really fear me.

They should.

I opened the door with my own two hands, stopping Max who was about to do so, and entered the room to see even more guards slash knights.

Wearing a golden and green mixture of armor, with the insignia of the falcon on their armor, they were all exuding overbearing pressure.

It wasn’t their power that was overbearing.

No.

It was the thick sickening smell of blood that only a killer like me could pick up.

Anyone who had experience with killing could pick that smell up.

I learned to hide mine at a young age because it made many assassination attempts fail.

In the real world, it was fine but in any of the fragments where there were supernatural powers, exuding the smell of blood wasn’t a good sign.

And then my gaze fell on the individual who was sitting on my couch, her legs crossed and her expression relaxed.

A rosy pink-skinned beauty with black hair and dark brown eyes.

She was sitting but I could still tell she was tall for a girl.

At an estimate, she was at least six feet two, maybe a bit more and her curves were magnificent.

I repeat, they were magnificent.

One distracting part of her body which although wasn’t on clear display, could still attract the eyes of any male, or even some females, was her chest.

I thought Asmara was big.

Well, I was wrong.

However, I couldn’t be blamed for that.

Logically a chest that big cannot exist.

Even I had only seen one with plastic embedded into it and as an experienced man, I could tell that there was no plastic in this one.

[Can we move on from your pervy thoughts?] ‘But have you seen a chest that big?’ I still couldn’t believe my eyes.

[I have] [Mine] ‘What do you need for your manifestation again?’ A chest bigger than that; I have to see even if I have to bend the universal laws to their limit.

“Good evening, Your Highness,” The girl on the couch said, her voice as soft as silk and her expression as benevolent as a mother.

Yet, all I saw was a mask.

A mask hiding nothing but pure cruelty behind it.

Now I wasn’t someone to judge because I hid a lot of things behind a mask as well.

She was also doing a praiseworthy job of hiding it.

That, there, was a perfect woman.

Well, near perfect.

The only flaw she had was her motive.

She was here to take advantage of me.

Now we all know how those kinds of people end up.

I didn’t answer to her greeting.

For one because it was wrong.

It was late afternoon, not evening, and second, her disrespect.

She didn’t even get up even in my own crib.

Now how was I supposed to take that?

[Not kindly that’s for sure] Damn straight.

“You’re in my seat,” I said as I walked past the couch in front of her and took a seat right next to her.

Her expression, however, which I expected to show some change, didn’t change.

She really was good.

Her knights, on the other hand, weren’t so bright.

When they saw me taking a seat so nonchalantly next to their princess, they all moved a little but instantly, the girl next to me raised her hand.

There were about thirty knights in my room which was a great show of disrespect in itself.

Attempting to put me in my place by even showing the intention of drawing their sword was worse.

So whoever this chick was, she was connected.

“You look very different since the last time we met,” Rebecca said.

I smiled and said, “Do make sure to introduce yourself.

I’m having a hard time remembering who you are.” Her expression still remained all smiley as she said, “This one’s name is Rebecca Mikhail.

It saddens me that Your Highness has forgotten about me.” Her fake sadness was fooling everyone and no one.

Rose didn’t believe her one bit and I wasn’t the type of person she could fool with that clumsy display.

“Well, I had a hard reset a year and a half ago.

I’m now a completely different person.” I replied, leaving the word ‘literally’ out.

“Yes, I heard of the unfortunate accident that occurred to you.” Rebecca said with her sad expression before she added with a cute chuckle, “But I also heard how naughty you were to cause that accident.” Now, now, was that just me, or did this chick really insult me just now?

[That was definitely an insult] Sounded like one as well.

“Please watch what you say to His Highness,” While Rose wasn’t intelligent enough to figure out the true meaning behind Rebecca’s words, Max was and he made sure to remind her as well.

I guess his loyalty was stronger than his hesitation in this situation.

“Oh my,” Rebecca made a shocked expression on her face and looked at me, “You have quite the rowdy subordinate.

He has the guts to speak to me like I am beneath him.

Do you not think that is wrong?” I looked at her, my gaze unwavering and straight.

That was enough of an answer for her.

She closed her eyes momentarily and then opened them again, her masked expression gone.

What replaced her was a cold expression that was full of cruelty.

She looked at me deep in my eyes and said, “You sure have changed, little Adrian.

If it was before, you would not even dare to look at me like that, let alone talk back to me.” ‘Little Adrian?’ I thought to myself as I listened to this chick yap.

‘What’s the story behind them now?’ ~~ “Who is she?” Sophien asked Alicia who still hadn’t calmed down yet.

Her anger itself was an indication that it wasn’t a small matter.

But as big as it was, it was also deep enough to be hidden within the imperial family because Asmara didn’t know about it.

With her status, she could have easily obtained information about the imperial family yet there was something she didn’t know about.

Surely, it was something big but secretive that the imperial family didn’t let it out.

An embarrassment.

“She is the one who made Adrian who he is.” Alicia said before she corrected herself, “Who he was before he lost his memory.” “You mean his rotten past?

Was that not always his nature?” Sophien asked.

Alicia shook her head and said, “No.

Adrian used to be a benevolent boy.

He was kind and didn’t hate anyone.

He did not even care about the fact that he could not manifest mana.

Although he was the embarrassment of the imperial family, not many hated him for that.

Even the servants treated him respect even when power was what earned you respect in the imperial family.” “Somehow I find that hard to imagine.

My first encounter with him was anything but pleasant.” Sophien remarked.

“Same.” Asmara chimed in.

“That is because you both met him after the damage was done.

After that bit*h had ruined him.” Alicia replied, anger increasing in her tone with each passing moment.

Sophien was now all the more curious and so were the others.

Laura especially wanted to know because the Adrian she was familiar with was none of those.

She wanted to know what Adrian’s past was.

Of course, she couldn’t ask him that because he had lost his memory and the topic never came up as well so there wasn’t a reason to ask.

“That is…” Alicia began… ~~ “Stop,” Adrian said.

He raised his hand to stop Rebecca who was about to recount the details of their past.

Rebecca stopped, a little offended by her expression, and looked at Adrian with dissatisfaction-filled eyes.

“What do you mean?” She asked.

“Who do I mean?” Adrian asked before he added, “Do I look like someone who would be interested in a flashback?

Especially when it’s someone else’s.” Rebecca didn’t understand half of what Adrian said but she understood the essence of his words.

He was clearly relaying that he didn’t care about their past deal.

Before Rebecca could say anything, Adrian continued, “I don’t care what relationship we had in the past.

I’ve seen enough from your actions so far but even if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have cared.” “Whether you spread your legs at the sight of me or I spread mine for you doesn’t matter.

What matters is that in this case, you will be the one doing the spreading and wagging your tail, which I will personally shove in you, with your tongue out, barking like a little bit*h you are.” Stunned silence enveloped the entire room.

Adrian’s words were half foreign and half confusing but once again, they relayed the intentions he was trying to convey.

Shiikk!

Shikk!!

Shhiiikkk!!!

Swords were withdrawn, and massive bloodlust enveloped the entire room.

And seeing that scene, Adrian’s smirk widened.
